Secondary education and 10+2

Progressively, in 2005 and 2006 we extended our support to secondary schools. We answered to a request coming from people which desired to give better education to their children. Furthermore foreign sponsors give help to children form ECDs to primary and they requested to go on with educational support to them. At the end of 2006 we had 11 teachers sponsored by us (with community contribution) in lower and secondary schools.

We provided text books and other school materials to 321 students to avoid drop out for expenditures which could not be sustained by family.

We organized coaching classes twice at year for more than 127 students to help them in overpass examinations.

During our community meetings, most of the people and teachers requested help to establish the first high secondary school (10+2) in the area to permit local and poorest students to follow studies. Before only few family can afford to support courses in Kathmandu for their children. The new school was inaugurated in december 2006.

We agreed with local stakeholders to assure a quota from underprivileged students and girls throughout sponsorship.

People collected several hundred thousand of rupies to register the school in Ministry of Education and to contribute to the new building. Members of the local committee ask former residents in the villages, now living in Kathmandu or abroad, to contribute to the project.

The day of inauguration a long banner with thousand names of contributors showed the committment of the people. Some of them gave only few rupies other thousands. The implementation of this project (10+2) showed how is possible mobilize people for a common goal and how NGO could help to manage and support community needs. From the middle of 2007, these projects have been cancelled by Centro Cooperazione Sviluppo ONLUS due to the diminishing of funds, they declared to the stakeholders.

Yesterday, the Journal of Commerce quoted Deputy CBP Commissioner Jayson Ahern on the imminence of the 10+2 ruling. Ahern said the ruling would be out in "days or weeks" and that there would not be a pilot first: "'I’m not interested in any pilot that’s going to delay implementation.' Ahern said, Importers are going to have to 'focus on reality' and realize they are going to have to comply with the rule."

Not exactly your usual indecipherable bureaucratic fog, is it? Supply Chain Digest has a good summary here, for those of you who have trouble getting access to the original Journal of Commerce article (which may lurk behind a registration firewall).

The big wave does, indeed, appear to be heading for shore. You can surf it or you can drown. Those are really the only choices.

Oh, what a silly episode. Cartman, having won an essay contest and allowed to speak when Kathy Lee Gifford comes to town, decides to bulk up by eating weight gain supplement. I once did a horrible science fair experiment in tenth grade using weight gain supplements on mice. It was a total failure and my parents were not down with a basement with with mice whose backs I'd used food coloring on.

In any case, Mr. Garrison, forever despising Kathy Lee for beating him in a talent competition as a child, decides to assasinate her.

God Bless is written on the bullet proof traveling shield used by Kathy Lee. What does it mean for her to say that? Is it totally exploitative of people's feelings about God? Is it an empty and hollow saying?

Laziness

Yes, I know it has been a week since I updated. I really haven't been lazy though! This week was quite busy. I'd elaborate but I need to study for my Math 240 AND Psychology 102 tests which are BOTH on Monday morning. Joy!

Anyway I will be posting again after my tests. Have been taking pictures and made several good stories :) Please pray for the connections between my neurons (which are made of dendrites and axon terminals communicating through synapses) to be able to fire electrical impulses reliably while covered in a myelin sheath (which is composed of fatty glial cells), the neurotransmitters to fire out enough endorphins so that I won't need any agonists, and my Limbic system along with other higher level brain structures such as my amygdala and hippocampus will perform superbly. (There's my two hours of studying Chapter 2: Neuroscience speaking). Thanks!

Check out this video of a 102 year old Iranian man working out at the gym. He gardens and enjoys his life. Who would expect to see a 102 year old man this active. Amazing! I am not sure if I want to live that long, but I want to have clear mind and be healthy when I am old. Take care of your health.

After reading Meg's post on on risk and keeping an eye on the recent hurricane, I was reminded of a publication by AMR Research around better understanding the impact of Risk in the supply and the finance chain.

The book covers 4 sections:

Enterprise risk - An overview of the types of risks which for an enterprise and looks at methodologies and concepts for better managing enterprise risk.
Regulatory Risk - How can compliance or non-compliance for SOX or other mandates which are just emerging like 10+2.
Supply Chain Risk - A detailed section on supplier risks and the nature of a global supply chain
Practitioner's Guide - An over view of how to implement better data management, automation and ensuring you have a successful plan to address risks.

Yesterday, I went to the USS Hornet museum, in Alameda, CA.

The ship was launched in 1943, when Importer Security meant being part of a convoy.

After serving in WWII and Vietnam (she was in drydock during the Korean conflict), the Hornet went on to a historic role as the Primary Recovery Ship for the Apollo 11 and 12 moon missions.

It’s an interesting arc: From an age before computers to an age made possible by them. The logistics industry has undergone a parallel evolution. Physical changes, from sail, to steam, have been overtaken by changes in information and the technology used to handle it.

Now, a new threat is met not with a purely physical response (more intrusive inspection, say), but with a call for information. There are three things implicit in this request:

The right information, correctly processed, can help flag those containers you really need to look at closely

The necessary information is available

Whew, ok I am alive, just to quickly clear that matter up :P This first week of college has been hectic, but I'm fairly sure I'll to make it. I'm going to wait to tell about my dorm and all until I get it looking okay (Right now it's boring white on my side). My roommate has some cool flags hanging up which I actually thought about doing, but guess that's out now. So I guess I'll give a quick summary of my classes....

Psychology 102- My only eight O'clock class (Praise the Lord!). I was expecting to be half awake through this period but surprisingly I discovered something. People can actually wake up before ten.... and function normally! I know, shocker right? The professor is a grad student who keeps the class fairly funny and non-boring. So far I'm liking it, but I reserve the right to flip sides when we get to Freud.... lol. Oh and we have these cool clicker devices. Basically at the end of class he polls us on questions from the lesson that day and then the results get put on a graph. Very cool, especially once we found out that we could change our votes back and forth even after the poll was already on the screen, thus constantly shifting the columns..... I don't know who would be amused by something like that...... *cough* *cough*....

Chemistry 100- This science class really seems like a simple review so far. I'm definitely not complaining though :) Dr. Upali has got to be one of my funniest teachers by far. He keeps the mood pretty light and laughs ALOT. It seems he doesn't know how to work a computer very well though, as it took approximately twenty minutes of our first class for him to take roll.... now we just pass a sheet of paper around. Today I was close to exploding with laughter. The windows update on his computer kept popping up wanting to restart the computer every five minutes. The whole class was waiting to see if the progress bar for an automatic restart could fill up before he noticed and canceled. It actually got within ten seconds or so of restarting once before he stopped it.

Math 240- Dr. Carpenter is an excellent math teacher, although right now what we're going over is simply a review. She is by far the most hyper teacher I have ever had. The first day I was wondering if she swallowed several energy drinks or was always like that. Apparently she constantly has tons of excess energy. Which is good because it keeps my attention. Especially since we have those awful chairs that followed me from high school! They are THE most uncomfortable wooden seat ever designed. In all our other classes we have awesome, super soft, swirly chairs.

University 100 - Yeah, this is one of those classes they stick freshman with so that they have an easy class. All we do is talk about random subjects. Works for me though since there's no homework to deal with.

Engineering 120- Will most certainly be my most challenging class by far. Lots of math and application type stuff (Yuck!). What redeems it though is my Boe-bot. Instead of a textbook we get to buy a little robot that we assemble and program. VERY fun and right down my alley. I'll do an entire post with videos later!

Just a quick little tidbit for any freshman next year. When you hear about Tech Convocation..... AVOID IT LIKE A PLAGUE! Here are the tricks they will use to lure you there. "Tons of people are going!" "You'll meet a lot of people!" "Free ice cream!" "It's mandatory." To borrow my sister's phrase..... "Lies! It's all lies!" You meet no one. Basically you are herded into the auditorium, sit there for an eternity listening to people give speeches that they believe to be inspiring when in reality they are dilapidated and boring (I would think I was being harsh too..... but have you ever sat through a thirty minute story about the letter V?). The only good part was when you came in they handed you a fairly neat looking medallion. Haha, during the speeches I think there were contests going on to see who could drop their coin the most/loudest. Of course they wanted to take the medallion away right after convocation in the form of "a symbolic investment in the Tech University Family". Basically they wanted us to chunk the cool coin that was the only positive part of going to the thing into a fountain. Have they ever been to a mall? Does that mean whenever I chunk a penny into the wishing fountain there I'm making "a symbolic investment in Pecanland Mall?" So we all threw in the only cool thing about convocation. I wonder if *cough* anyone *cough* kept their medallion *cough* instead of throwing *cough* it in? I mean, since there were about 150 freshman (Only half, the rest were smart enough to see through the ruse and not come) and I think I only saw about twenty coins go into the water.....

Oh and the free ice cream? We waited in line next to a band blaring loud Brass instuments less then thee feet from our ears. Ouch! Then, when we finally reached the promised land after standing in line for twenty minutes, we discovered it's the ordinary, every day, popsicle. I was crushed. But then right before I got to the crosswalk I hate because I always feel like the drivers won't stop for me.....
I passed the coolest sculpture ever and got over it.

Opisze tu obsługę programu AP Instrument Tuner 1.02, bardzo przydatnego tunera do gitary.
Zaczynamy od POBRANIA(klik) a następnie go instalujemy, z czym nie powinno być problemów, więc nie będę tego opisywał :)

Zacznę od opisu głównego okna programu:

1. To dźwięk aktualnie wydobywany przez naszą gitare (lub inny instrument)
2. Procentowy licznik dokładności wydobywanego dźwieku.
3. Analogowy wskaźnik dokładności wydobywanego dźwieku.

Teraz pora wyjaśnić jak się nim posługiwać.
Podłączony do komputera mikrofon przykładamy na odległość 3-7 cm od otworu w pudle rezonansowym(im bliżej tym dźwięk jest dokładniejszy) i szarpiemy za strunę, co powinno zostać odpowiedno odwzorowane na naszym tunerze.

Gdy już wiemy jak stroić, warto poznać, jaka struna powinna wydobywać dany dźwięk, a więc:
struna pierwsza (najcieńsza) - E4
struna druga - B3
struna trzecia - G3
struna czwarta - D3
struna pišta - A2
struna szósta (najgrubsza) - E2

Teraz wiemy jaka struna powinna posiadać dany dźwięk, ale jak wygląda ich kolejność w tunerze ?

Gdy tuner wskazuje liczbę procentów na '+' to oznacza że strunę trzeba poluzować, gdy jednak jest '-' to robimy odwrotnie, strunę podkrencamy.

I to chyba na tyle co trzeba wiedzieć :)

Halo Version Changer

Because of the recent 1.08 update for halo, many programs made for halo or haloce 1.08 no longer work. While it is possible to update all these programs, this could take a long time. And the people who made them could be inactive and never update their program at all. The easiest fix is to allow a 1.07 client to connect to a 1.08 server. This way you can still use your old programs, but play on the updated 1.08 servers. This is exactly what the Version Changer will do.

You download the modified strings.dll and overwrite the original one in your halo directory (make a backup of the old one!). Then simply start halo. If everything went good, you will see a small message when halo starts. You can now use the new version command in the halo console:

version: Displays the version of the executable (your real version) and the version you are playing on (the faked version).
version table: Displays all the versions you can switch to.
version 1.0x: Changes the version to 1.0x (for halopc).
version 1.0xCE: Changes the version to 1.0x (for haloce).

It will also disable the "checking for updates" message. Although you will still see this message, no actual check will happen. While it is possible to change between halopc and haloce versions, you will not be able to join any servers if you mix halopc and haloce. The versions 1.00/1.01/1.02 for halopc are not supported. Version Changer will not load if you use the executables of these versions. You also cannot join these versions from a newer client (halo will crash - protocol mismatch?). These versions (and halo trail) will not be supported in future releases, unless there are enough requests of users to also support these versions.

Attention Halo Custom Edition users: Make sure you always include the CE postfix when changing to a different version!
Note: Version Changer only changes the version numbers used. It doesn't patch the actual bugs/exploits in older versions.
Hint: You can use HPE Version Switcher to change the executable version. Or you can directly download the 1.07 executables for ce and pc here.

Verdorie. Ik had nog zo gezworen een literair feest te maken van mijn honderdste post.

Niet dus. Compleet uit het oog verloren. Ik schrijf maar door zonder nadenken. Alleen bij het schrijven kan ik dat, niet nadenken. Terwijl ik eigenlijk toch nadenk. Maar omdat ik het er ongegeneerd kan uitfloepen, denk ik er daarna niet meer aan. Denken, wat een raar woord eigenlijk, als je dat zo tien keer traag na mekaar uitspreekt.

Maar goed. Ik roep deze post nu dus uit tot de honderd-en-tweede op Wordpress. Hieperdepiep Hoeraaaa!
