That was stunning, all right. I mean, I don’t know about you, but I feel stunned.

First, there was endless line of otherwise fairly intelligent Republican pundits who set aside their personal integrity in order to throw themselves on (or perhaps in front of) the Palin bandwagon. Even Rudy Giuliani championed her candidacy, though surely a lifelong New Yorker – and mayor of the city, during the terrorist attacks -- couldn’t possibly take her and her small-town experience seriously.

Next came the Evangelicals, who were only too happy to embrace Bristol and her baby daddy, never you mind that scarlet letter poking out the front of her dress or the dirty details of the sin that put it there.

Not that they haven’t already overlooked McCain’s philandering. After all, he had just returned from Vietnam to find that his first wife, a former beauty queen herself, had gotten a little thicker in the thighs. Isn’t a POW entitled to a “get out of jail free” card on that piddly little commandment about adultery? He oughta be entitled to at least a little somethin’-somethin’ from the woman who would become, as she was last night, a perfect life-sized model for Mattel’s next big thing: Grandma Barbie.

And then, the main event: One Fargo-sounding hockey mom, staring vacantly at the teleprompter like a moose into the headlights, delivering her acceptance speech for the nomination for the vice-presidency of the PTA. Whoops! I mean USA.

Apart from the blatant lies about the facts of Obama’s experience and candidacy, Palin’s little Sarah-nade amounted to a 45-minute snark attack. I mean, had Giuliani not gone on for so long, she could have fit in those closing jokes about Obama’s mom, instead of ending so abruptly as she did.

And boy, oh boy, never was a candidate received with so much hooting and hollering from the oh-so-classy members of the Republican Party. Among whom, might I point out, there was nary an iota of pigmentation, of the hair (or what was left of it) or the skin (except for those two black guys they zoomed in on at the very end).

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah.

Sarah, please! If you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all.

Everybody knows that sarcasm is a way of deflecting an insult, and Palin’s mean-spirited attack did less to establish her as a bright and independently strong politician than it did to put her very much on the defensive, like a tenacious pit bull in lipstick who will just. Not. Let. It. Go.

I’m reminded of wrenching Molly’s jaws apart and shaking her entire head to knock free the slice of pizza she snatched from the countertop. Let it go! Loose! DROP IT! BAD GIRL!

Take it from a sarcastic person herself. I have had to learn the hard way that people don’t want to hear you bitching and moaning all the time.

Nobody likes a downer. Wipe that smirk off your face and say something positive.

If only the GOP thought so. It was clear to me the Rovian Machine had voice coached, put George W Bush's words in her mouth, slicked her up and popped out the Republican Dream Barbie. Reagan in pumps. Victim of the press. Sexy, sassy barracuda. Pit bull with lipstick. At the tail end of her speech, the Republican Party had processed and sold Palinistas and Palinbots at a rate that would impress a Chinese Mattel Factory. Palinistats are the soldiers. Palinbots are the blind faithful. The snarky attacks on Obama are not hers. She has supported Obama's energy plan. It was as though a Chatty-Cathy sound box had been installed and Karl Rove was pulling the string. The media talking points flying right and right, and most of them wrong. "Reaganesque." "Chief Executive Officer of Alaska." "Hockey Mom.""Sexism, Sexism, Sexism." Living in a state near Russia gives you foreign policy? So living near a hospital must give you surgical skills.

Knowing her policy record here in Alaska, I won't vote for her. Supreme Court decisions will be made by the next administration. McCain is on record saying he would appoint justices like John Roberts and Samuel Alito. Alaska can't afford judges like Roberts and Alito. Look at the recent decision made in favor of Exxon over destroyed fisheries and damaged fishermen in Alaska. A woman's right to choose. A rape victim's right to choose. An incest survivor's right to choose. I consider "vaginal control" a benefit of Kaegel exercises, not the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Until you legislate a parent to love and care for a child, you can't legislate forced parenthood.

I've been within arms reach of a brown bear. Wrecked a boat in the cold waters of Alaska. Got married once. All the adrenaline and fear from those experiences must have saved up and dumped at once when I witnessed the selling and buying of a processed Sarah Palin. I have speculated on the political process. I've wondered who really pulls the strings, waves the wand, orchestrates the media. Every four years we hold our nose, vote, and pretend like they are counting. Whatever was organic to democracy has been homogenized, hybrid, seeded and packaged in a fashion that rivals Monsanto.

I am convinced there is still power in citizenry. I'm sure Hunter S. Thompson would laugh at my naivety, but I'm still here, and he's not. I carry five little rocks and the Constitution in my hand bag. My Pop reminded me David only needed one stone to take out Goliath.

Do próximo dia 16 até 29/05 o Shopping Tacaruna estará inaugurando, na Praça de Eventos, uma exposição inédita em Pernambuco, "BARBIE NA MODA - Do Egito Antigo ao Século XXI".

É uma exposição que exibe de forma lúdica e educativa as transformações dos padrões de beleza e costumes através dos tempos, retratando importantes períodos da moda por meio da boneca Barbie e de belíssimos registros fotográficos.

"Barbie na Moda" foi elaborada em conjunto com o Senac Moda São Paulo, que supervisionou a escolha de temas através do seu renomado professor de História da Moda, João Braga, que selecionou as principais transformações da indumentáris para serem representadas nesta exposição através da boneca Barbie. Todo o conteúdo das legendas das bonecas expostas traz extensa informação da história da moda ao público.

A exposição permite, aos visitantes, observações de detalhes dos trajes, comportamentos e movimentos culturais de diversas épocas, refletidos não só nas bonecas, mas também nas fotos destaque o que permite ao especatador a oportunidade de contato com criações de estilistas consagrados como Lino Villaventura, Walter Rodrigues, Alexandre Herchcovich, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Coco Chanel, Bob Mackie, André Courrèges, entre outros.

A mostra será composta por 101 bonecas de coleção, de edições limitadas, que fazem parte de acervo particular do colecionador Carlos Keffer. Cada uma destas bonecas retrata de forma fiel e minuciosa os trajes, penteados, acessórios de 18 períodos históricos. A mostra também é composta por 18 fotografias criadas pelo fotógrafo Ricardo Schetty (que tambem é o curador do evento), das bonecas de destaque de cada época. Sobressaindo na exposição estão as luxuosas Barbie Rainha Elizabeth (representando o período "Renascentista") e Barbie Maria Antonieta (representando o "Barroco"), autênticas recriações de vestidos imortalizados em clássicas pinturas de época. Também é destaque o grupo temático "Neoluxuosas" (caracterizando o retorno ao luxo no século XXI) e, encerrando o evento, como nos grandes desfiles de moda, as "Noivas".

A Barbie é um sucesso absoluto, tanto em vendas quanto em popularidade. É a boneca mais vendida no mundo, 120 milhões de exemplares a cada ano, o que significa que duas Barbies são vendidas por segundo, além de ser a queridinha de crianças e adultos de todo lugar.

mas há argumentos plausíveis para tal atitude: um nicho da prateleira do meu quarto está vazio e logo pensei em colocar a minha velha amiga sentadinha nele. foi então que surgiu o problema - com as roupinhas originais, não dá! mesmo lavando, passando cheirinho, seria impossível deixá-las com uma boa aparência, já que o tempo chegou e deixou o tecido todo encardido. daí vi diversos modelos na loja, não resisti e me joguei na compra. ela está linda. até fiz um penteado retrô no cabelo dela, um lusho. outro bom ponto a respeito disso é o quanto a nova barbie está feia. OMG, fiquei assustada com o novo desenho do rosto que fizeram para ela. lastimável, afinal, as que tenho são tão bonitas...

hoje é dia de aula de design do som, que também começa apenas à noite. mas a minha tarde já tem função - mais horas para colar no meu sketchbook. tenho produzido bastante nas últimas semanas; bom que treino bem a minha composição, já que no final de semana tenho workshop. estou muito feliz e atarefada. para dar uma animada, devo pegar um cineminha no belas. é barato e tranquilo, delícia de lugar. quem sabe meu príncipe estará lá hoje à minha espera? acho que sim, hoje acordei com cara de branca de neve :]

Kemarin sore, dihari pertama puasa, gw and temen kantor gw ngobrol (bukan gosip loh, cuma Prediksi :P) tentang salah satu sekretaris pribadi petinggi di perusahaan tempat kita bekerja.. temen gw dgn yakinnya ngomong kalo si sekretaris berinisial DV itu pasti menggunakan bedak yang ada pewarna pinknya buat glossy-in wajah , makanya mukanya bisa putiih bgt en ada warna pinky2nya yang bikin doi keliatan segar disamping penggunaan Blush on yang gak tau berapa kemasan dia abisin dalam satu bulannya ( tebel bgt) .. tapi ya dengan ditunjang warna cat rambut blondie, sepatu tinggi yang dimatchingan ama baju2 yang kelihatan LUX ( means : mahal) yang kadang gak sesuai dengan lokasi dimana dia berada, Doi sukses meraih predikat Barbie Girl ( padahal dia udah seperempat abad, means: gak cocok lagi dandan ala barbie yang kaya anak ABG ) dan nimbulin rasa iri di karyawati2 lain. So temen gw dan beberapa tim komentator lainnya berkesimpulan kalo doi bisa cantik kaya barbie itu gara2 pake bedak yang pasti mahal, plus gaji yang gede untuk bisa beli baju modis dan mahal di mall2 bergengsi, spatu tinggi aneka warna, ganti-ganti cat rambut en cat kuku sesuai keinginan DAN Mereka juga Berhipotesa kalau mereka digaji sebesar DV, mereka bakalan bisa ngerombak penampilan dan kelihatan cantik kaya DV... so, Beauty 4 them is just a glamour Make up, branded and shiny shoe plus clothes, intiNYa the beast di kisah Beauty and the Beast juga bisa kaya Ken - nya Barbie kalo punya duit banyak dan dipermak di Salon terkenal..

Then di hari yang sama, sorenya sohib karib gw main ke kosan gw yang cozy tapi bermasalah gara2 tetangga sebelah gw pake acara gosip subuh kenceng2 3 jam sebelum sahur.. en kami ngobrolin dirinya yang baru aja diterima di salah satu perusahaan developer ternama dibilangan elit Sudirman.. setelah nyeritain kesuksesannya ngedapetin pekerjaan baru itu, kita beralih ke penampilannya yang bisa dibilang berubah bgt dari jaman kuliah dan menempati asrama dulu .. kalo dulunya dia hobi pake jeans belel plus kaos oblong dimana mana, dia skarang terlihat lebih langsing (pasca skripsi 1 1/2 tahun ) rambut yang dimodelin, terusan kantoran yang feminim ( waktu gw tanya harganya cukup mahal en gak sesuai budget gw) dan yang paling naikin kelasnya ialah Kalung emas yang ngelingkarin lehernya.. waktu gw tanya soal kalung barunya dia bilang kalo itu pemberian Nyokapnya supaya dia kelihatan lebih cantik dan berkelas.. well , another opinion about beautiful is : luxury jewelry on your body as well as the expensive clothes that u put on ur body

Then gw coba ngeliat kediri gw yang jauh dari kesan "cantik" menurut temen2 gw tadi.. bedak yang tiap hari gw pake cuma seharga 40 ribu dan foundation bermerek yang sama dengan harga 30 ribu yang sama sekali gak bisa bikin efek natural pinky diwajah gw kecuali kalo molesin blush one 50 ribuan yang gw beli dari temen transgender dikantor gw setebal2nya..lipstick yang gw pake tiap hari juga cuma berlabel harga 15 ribu.. gw inget waktu gw beli lipstic glossy itu, mbaknya yang tdnya nawarin gw merek P** @ 26 ribu yg akhirnya gw tolak secara halus ngomong kaya gini "wah mba suka yang murah meriah ya??" ( hiks sedikit ada pelecehan dinada suaranya..)

Gw juga gak punya body lotion super halus untuk menghaluskan kulit kecuali petrolum Gel V*****e untuk ngatasin bibir en kulit kering gw..gw gak kenal berbagai rasa dan jenis luluran yang dipake temen2 sekantor gw yang katanya bikin kulit putih dan halus, apalagi istilah creambath, pedicure, medicure dan mandi susu yang sering dilakukan temen2 gw diakhr pekan..

Soal pakaian, believe it or not, gw masih make pakaian zaman kuliah dulu buat kerja sekarang.. gaji gw yang pas pas san untuk bayar kosan dan makan selama 30 hari gak bisa bikin gw bolak balik beli baju mahal sesuai tren kaya apa yang temen2 gw lakuin setiap minggunya, terakhir ini gw cuma mampu beli baju kaos untuk atasan legging gw seharga 20 ribu di ITC Mangga Dua, o ya plus satu daster gak nyerap warna putih dengan fixed price 15 ribu

Apalagi yang namanya emas dan perak.. selama setahun 2 bulan bekerja, gw belum mampu untuk beli satu cincin atau kalung emas untuk gw pake.. ditambah lagi dengan telinga yang gak bertindik cuma bisa bikin gw mandangin temen gw yang selalu berganti2 anting2 sesuai pakaian yang dikenakan yang dirancang sesuai tema hari ini

Well kalo menurut kriteria temen2 gw diatas pastilah gw jauh dari kesan Barbie yang jadi ikon kecantikan masa kini, gak heran gw cuma jadi pendengar setia kalo temen2 gw bicarain baju baru nya mereka atau cuma jadi pengamat mode baju2 baru yang mereka pamerkan setiap minggunya, mereka juga gak pernah ngajakin gw retouch make up setelah makan siang karna tau gw gak suka bawa make up kekantor dan gak hobi untuk molesin bedak atau blush on biar makin nge Barbie..

But I am triying to think about it wisely, yah meskipun gw gak punya cukup duit untuk luluran atau mandi susu tiap minggu, kulit gw yang cuma disabunin pake sabun mandi Cusson batangan cukup untuk buat kulit gw wangi dan gak kasar. Gw juga berterima kasih ama Tuhan yang ngaruniain kulit dengan warna yang gak terlalu gelap jadi gw gak harus beli lotion pemutih yang mahal, atau kulit wajah yang harus dikontrol dengan pembersih ala dokter yang bisa ngabisin duit jutaaan..kulit wajah gw yang dihiasi jerawat kecil2 gk nolak kalo cuma dibersihin pake pembersih murahan di swalayan terdekat

Yeah even tough I am not as pretty as Barbie, gw ngerasa cukup "cantik" dengan apa yang TUhan udah rencanain buat gw..dengan wajah yang pas-pas san ini actually gw udah nemuin pasangan hidup gw yang memang secara fisik tidak sesempurna Ken ( coz i am also not perfect as barbie) but perfect In My Eyes: yang sayang ama gw dengan tulus, yang gak pernah bandingin gw dengan wanita2 berfisik sempurna yang ada disekelilingya, yang gak pernah marah meskipun baju gw mulai menyempit akibat ngemil yang mulai over dosis dan yang selalu bilang kalo gw makin cantik disaat gak pake riasan apapun, yang gw tau bgt jauh dari kriteria yang dirumuskan temen2 gw diatas..Well salah besar kalo gw bilang hidup gw gak sempurna dengan fisik dan pasangan hidup gw sekarang. yeah I am feeling so lucky cause God created me as pretty as I am. Thank God For making Me as "Me".

I know the picture doesn't do it justice, but keep in mind that this was their very first meeting. They were still in the awkward early stages of their friendship. They hadn't yet had the opportunity to stay up until 2am doing each other's hair and giggling about boys. I mean, come on, that was two days ago. Now they are total BFFs.

We also got her a Barbie car. Big D is all over that. And the wife's sister got her a Barbie and a Ken. Poor Ken. He's already being neglected. He just lies in the corner with his Hawaiian shirt and stiff disgusting hair. Apparently, Ken doesn't own a pair of shoes. Not even flip flops. I never realized Ken was so--what's the word I'm looking for--homeless.

Barbie, on the other hand, is a great role model. If you ignore the fact that most of her outfits look like they were specifically made to be marketed under the new line of Crack Whore Barbies, she's a model citizen. (Now that I think about it, maybe that's how she manages all those careers--crack. Not only does it cut out the need for sleep, I bet she couldn't sleep even if she tried.) Nevertheless, she's got Smella preaching the girl power gospel. Tonight while I was giving her a bath, she looked up at me and declared, "I not a baby. I'm a gale."

Well then, you go, gale.

Warmup was light. Dunno what's going on there. Drilled the same takedown to arm choke from Saturday and then a different variation on it. Then rolling. My coach checked on me every round to make sure I was with one of the controlled guys, and I was trying to get them, too. Last round I did get one of the muscling guys; I just worked defense and moving my hips. I've decided, though, that if I do get those guys again that I'm just going to tap right before they overpower me. There's no point in even letting them jerk my joint out. By then I'm already hurt. Had to do it once with this guy.

When we were working the takedowns, my coach paired me up with the biggest guy in class -- a foot taller than me and 80-90lbs heavier! But he won't hurt me, so that's why we worked together. We had to stay on this for a while because most of the guys weren't there on Saturday and were having trouble.

At some point, my coach came over to talk to me and my partner and explained why he wanted this guy working with me and why he wanted only certain guys rolling with me. He said the muscling guys would crank me in to something and then grin and strut like they'd submitted one of the Gracies. (I always turn away from them after they hurt, er, submit me so I can regain my composure and remind myself not to knock their head off, so I'd never seen their faces after.) He said, too, that he doesn't want the guys who roll with me to just take it easy on me -- I'll never learn that way, either -- but that I shouldn't just get beat up every class. My partner said he understood and said he'd have some fun with those muscling guys later. See why I love my guys? :)

I did notice that a few of the muscling guys were trying to get to me for some of the rounds. I guess they like going with someone they can make tap a lot.

There's a BJJ tournament in a few weeks. I want to do it. Need to talk to the guys.

I talked to the kickboxing instructor on Saturday. I need to get down to 118lbs for the tournament in November. I was at 124 after BJJ on Saturday (which should be minus water weight, except the body fat % was much too low, like it normally is when you're well hydrated. Oh, well, it still said 124.), so this shouldn't be hard to hit.

First, this was Barbie's last weekend in Nashville. Sad. Unfortunately, with the craziness that is my job, I didn't get to see her this week, but on Friday I dragged my tired butt over to her house after work to help her pack, load the truck, and move things to/from storage. Afterwards, Barbie and her husband treated us to pizza. Yummy.

I got up again on Saturday and helped them load the last bit into the truck and watched them drive away, off to Canada. I know she'll be back in a couple months and will visit often, but I already miss her. I'm very excited about her opportunities there and I know she'll really flourish - what I really want for her!

After moving Barbie, I went to Bama's house to enjoy her pool. Gotta love friends with access to a pool! We relaxed for a while and later went to a party with Bama's friends. A pretty chill evening, just what I needed.

Today, I slept in...ah the luxury!! I needed it after very little sleep this past week. I don't want to even think how few hours I slept in the past five days. Then I joined Bama at her pool again. Lots of sun and relaxation. We watched last week's Project Runway (my favorite reality show - and only one I've ever tolerated), because work prevented me from being social and joining the regular Girls' Night at Bama's house last week.

Afterwards, I went to my mom's house. She had gotten lots of fresh produce and shrimp. We grilled corn on the cob and shish-kabobs. Yummy, yummy! We sat on the front porch to let the food digest and talk about some important things. Mom has tons of hummingbird feeders. They were flying all around us. So cute!

As it got dark, we went in and mom made some banana pudding that was fantastic! I had brought Woman of the Year and we watched that while we ate pudding. I highly recommend the movie, especially to any women who try to do it all. I adore Katharine Hepburn! It was a great evening with a great movie.

Tomorrow is Labor Day. I think for once I'm actually going to take a holiday. I need it, I deserve, and I demand it! I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Essa gente so pensa em orgão sexual mesmo e em mais nada!

Mas voltando ao nosso amigo que diz não joga bola por ser gays. Eu gostaria de saber se existe uma cartilha de etiquetas gay, que diz o que pode e o que não pode. Isso mais parece um bando de gente sem visão, ou são míopes ou são muito irracionais. Desculpa está última palavra, mas se limitar assim é demais.

No final ele só falava em malhar, academia, corpo. Parecia que era mais importante ter um corpo e somente isso.

Como diria o pessoal "Oh b... burra!"

Ontem assistir o filme "Meninas Malvadas", original em inglês "Mean Girls". Acho que tem muito haver com os gays. Aquelas meninas fúteis querendo mandar no pedaço, por sorte no fim tudo acaba bem. Vejam o video da malvada Regina. E assistam o filme. Tem uma mensagem.

A de não nos transformamos em criaturas fúteis, só porque tem um grupinho, ou grupão de babacas querendo que sejamos uma só cópia sem identidade.

Deixo para vocês essa semana um clip manerin, com uma concepção muito manera. Da marie Digbi, ela começou com videos no youtube e hoje é um sucesso. Então diga "Say it Again".

Hace unos días llegó mi suegra con un regalito que una de sus nietas le había entregado por el "Día de los abuelitos", era una manualidad que había hecho en el colegio y que tenía la carita de una abuelita (una mujer de muchos años, cabecita blanca, lentes que le colgaban de la punta de la nariz). Cuando lo ví recordé la edad de mi madre y la de mi suegra. Recordé que mi mamá ya tiene 2 nietas, mi suegra 5. Que cuando las ven, a la gente le cuesta creer que ya tengan nietas. Que no tienen la cabecita blanca y que a los niños se les entrega un estereotipo de abuelita -como la del regalito- que, en muchas familias, ya no es tan real.

Cuántas mujeres hay en el mundo que ya tienen nietos y que aun no llegan ni a los 60 años, que están muy lejos de ser aquella imagen que nos venden en la televisión. Creo que mi generación tiene a una abuelita que ya pasó los sesenta hace rato, pero en la generación de mis hijas las cosas son completamente distintas.

Anacé ve que su abuelita (mi mamá), a quien llama "Mami Luz María", maneja moto y que alguna vez manejó sola desde Lima hasta Ecuador sólo para ver a su esposo que allá trabajaba. Mi suegra, a quien Anacé llama "Mamá Vicky", juega y juega en la computadora con la nieta torneos de "minijuegos" y de cuando vez juegan voley. Ambas mujeres están completamente fuera del estereotipo de abuelita.

Mis abues, Marcia y mi "mama", sí son cabecita blanca, completamente distintas las dos y bastante activas. Los años se les notan hace rato y es un placer escuchar todo aquello que tienen que contar, sus recetas, sus anécdotas, las historias de mis papás cuando eran unos niños... Recuerdo el olor de la mazamorra que mi mama me preparaba cuando era chiquita y que cuando estuve embarazada de Ale se me antojó y sin dudar me volvió a preparar. De Marcia, como yo la llamo, cada vez que voy a su casa en navidad hay una cantidad enorme de adornos que parece que entraras a la casa de Mamá Noela, casi todos los adornos los hace ella.

Sólo quería hacerle justicia a mi mamá y a mi suegra, y a todas las mujeres que son como ellas. Que tienen nietos, que disfrutan de ellos, que manejan moto, que manejan muy bien la pc y que tienen harto que contarle a los hijos de sus hijos. Sólo quería hablar de mis abues, jóvenes de espíritu y con la sabiduría que muchas quisiéramos tener ya.

PD: También quiero desde aqui enviar dos felicitaciones. La primera, a mis papás que ayer cumplieron 28 años de casados. Cada vez que alguien les pregunta -a la expectativa por conocer una, seguramente, romántica respuesta- acerca de por qué se casaron, ellos contestan que por mi culpa! Sí, son un amor ambos. Felicidades a ambos por tantísimo tiempo juntos. Por mi parte, santificaré a mi madre por haber aguantado tanto tiempo a mi papacito :P

La segunda es para felicitar a mi querida amiga Viviana, a quien tengo el gusto de llamar mi amiga, que ganó el primer lugar en la categoría Familia del concurso realizado por Blogsperú. Personas como Vivi, y su familia, están para enseñarnos a ser mejores personas y a asumir con mucho cariño todos los regalos que nos da la vida. ¡Felicidades nuevamente Vivi!
