It was for Discobelle. a really cool music blog. they asked me to do a 30 minute mix for their Mixin' It Up feature. You make the mix then write up why you chose each track.

Kish Mauve - Lose Control (Fred Falke Remix)
I found this remix on a blog recently. I pretty much love everything Fred Falke does, for that matter all the things Alan Braxe does too. Their production is leaps ahead of everyone else.
So here's a great Alan Braxe remix of Kelis. Got this one off a mate ages ago. Genius. I'm sure if I was to ever be a DJ and play this one out (as they say) it would literally blow up the dancefloor with things flying off the hook all over the place. I particularly like the lead synth that comes in just as the rap finishes and the chorus begins. it's little touches like that that make Alan Braxe so good.

Rio - Race Is Set (Part II)
When i was working sourcing music for ads I found this track on someone's myspace and followed it all the way to Beautycase Records in Germany. Absolutely brilliant. with synths that remind me of Prototype by Rex The Dog, which unfortunately was too slow to mix in here but worth checking out.

Tiga - (Far From) Home (Digitalism Remix)
Another track I found through my old job. Got the ep with about 6 mixes on. The DFA remix is pure joy.
A few weeks later I went to see Jackson and his computer band at Fabric and Digitalism were playing just after him. it was mental. I'd never heard so many bit crunched basslines side chained to hell.

I love the simplicity of Surkin's work. just raw dance tapped straight from the glands of daft punk

Kavinsky - Testarossa (SebastiAn Remix)
The Ferrari man remixed by the guy that brought us Ross Ross Ross. I know it's old, but how could i not include it. Ross x3 pretty much changed my life. that's the whole reason I got into Ed Banger Records. And the whole reason I produce my tracks the way I do. That and Jackson and His Computer Band.

Felix Cartel - L'Amour
Another track I found on a blog recently. Loved the bassline immeadiately. there's something of a boys noize to it. I can imagine all kinds of shit happening on the dance floor if this one's dropped firmly in the club

Teenage Bad Girl - Vacuum
My flatmate played me Fuckin' Frog a few months ago so I bought the album, which is fantastic. really dirty with some great remixes from boys noize and hystereo (whose 2005 album corporate crimewave is a must have)

Heavy Rotation - Run For Your Life (Diamond Cut Instrumental)
This track takes a swift glance at the 80s. and then takes the reverb off the drums and realizes it sounds better like that! great melodies in this one. was going to try to mix in Europa by Bob Sinclair but wanted to whack the next one in more.

The Presets - This Boy's In Love
Oh my god. You need the new Presets album. It's tonnes better than the first, and I loved that one!
this track is amazing. gets the hairs on the back of my neck standing up. Really reminiscent of so many golden 80s tunes with that piano riff. Something Vince Clark could have written if he'd been so inclined. Makes me feel like I'm going mental in a gay techno circa 1990.

Revolte - Blackout
A new guy to my ears. Really Justice/SebastiAn. Whatever...it's great. I'm definitely getting the album.

Bumblebeez - Rio
A great album my Press people gave me. I must say this is the best track off the album, but it is pretty good despite its similarity with Basement Jaxx.

Mr Oizo - Nazis (Justice Remix)
I don't i need any words to describe this one. crazy remix for a crazy dude. When that bassline drops I can't help but thrust my pointed hand into the air. Despite sitting here in my bedroom with murder she wrote playing silently on the tv behind me. I know...I'm a loser.

Rescatamos el éxito de Bob Sinclair el World hold on para remezclar el Hot Stuff de Craig David. Nos queda una combinación muy buena de la voz de Craig David con el ritmito de la canción de Bob Sinclair. La mezcla esta muy currada y suena muy bien, otra gran perla para añadir a la collección.

Hoy decidí salir con un amigo que no veía desde hace mucho tiempo, me invito con sus amigos y acepte la invita. Fuimos a un antro gay, cabe mencionar que tengo siglos sin pisar uno. Todo me inspiraba un ambiente muy familiar pero olvidado: los hombres amanerados, la música fresa pop, la libertad entre las personas de expresarse. Yo perdí la costumbre de visitar estos sitios y por supuesto era como Adán después de comer la manzana. Tenía vergüenza y traía un sombrero gigante y lentes para ser despistado, según yo. Mis amigos se dieron cuenta que me quedaba viendo a un chico y ellos le hablaron y me lo ligaron como archivo adjunto. Al principio no pasaba nada pero después tuvimos cierta química y recordé cuando conocí a PsicoKiller y bueno bailamos al ritmo de Bob Sinclair y me sentía super bien. Nos besamos y pasamos un rato agradable. Cuando el se retiraba nos intercambiamos teléfonos y el pregunto –¿Nos volveremos a ver? A lo que respondí –Sí, me encantaría. Era verdad, me gustaría verlo otra vez pero dentro de mí sabia que no era posible, ¿para que?, ¿con que intención?. No ofrezco nada estable, no tenia sentido.

Sleepzone was a fine place and I managed to meet a few nice people, however it wasn't the most personable spot around. It really catered to large families, large families that liked to cook very, very large meals, in the very very large, crowded kitchen. Not the best scene to meet people. The free internet, however, was a great thing, as I'm watching my euros pile up as I type away. Another great thing about the hostel was the ever-friendly Canadian Tony, who has been living in Ireland since last fall and took us on a great pub crawl through the town last Monday night. I don't even remember all the places we went, it was that great. We heard traditional live music in at least four different pubs, and by the time we stepped into the first club of the night I was shocked back into reality by the blaring American hip-hop, and decided to call it a night.

Taken in the early hours on the bus from Shannon to Galway- the most sun I've seen since I've been here. As the town scizophrinic informed me over a Guiness in the Quays, this is one of the worst weather-related summers Ireland has seen in years. He knows because it brings out his bi-polar disorder. I quickly finished my Guiness and headed back out into the rain.

Swans on the River Corrib. There are a whole bunch, and they hang out at the mouth to the bay by the Spanish Arch. There's a tiny waterfall, and when I was walking by a whole crew of swans seemed confused as to why they couldn't swim up the waterfall. I felt bad for them for a second, until I remembered that swans are mean, like "I'll drown you with my long neck-mean', and then I didn't feel so bad.

And as promised, a shot of the new haircut. It's already grown a bunch in the past couple of weeks- I can almost get it all into a ponytail. That will be a great day.

Yesterday we paid a visit to Music in the sun for music, food and drinks as the sun set over Don Valley.

Who did we see there? I'd heard Steve Lamacq mention Hiem a few times before but never watched them live. They appeared in the main arena and were good, quite electronic but more melodic and poppy than I was expecting. This is Electricity from 2004:

And following them was Steve Edwards, who I didn't realise wrote and provided vocals for Bob Sinclar's 2006 hit World, hold on (children of the sky):

Bob Sinclar also released Love generation, which Steve Edwards also performed live on Saturday.

There were several other arenas with other performers and DJs playing, as well as graffiti artists, food, drink, retail stalls and fairground rides.

The festival continues today from 1pm. If you do go down, also don't miss the tasty African/Caribbean food from Broomhill's UK Mama.

Bob sinclair de nuevo, uno de los djs más prolíficos de nuestro blog toma este tema de Madonna y Justin Timberlake y le da un pequeño lavado de cara.

Añade un poco más de ritmo a la canción y realiza un edit de la misma, la canción suena algo más pero sigue siendo muy parecida a la original, mantiene entonces una buena valoración pero no consigue mejorarla.
