Take a look at this photo from a local commuter train:

There is a young white woman speaking on her phone. Notice how the black woman is staring at her with this face of disgust. Directly over her head is a black man grimacing her as well. Over the white man's head is yet another black woman frowning at her. I know that this pic is a bit tough to view because I had to take it while I was on the train. I completely agree with the message of the ad. People yapping on the train on their cells is totally aggravating. But imagine now that the add was just a bit different.

Imagine this add had the black woman yapping on her phone and all the white people in the add giving her dirty looks. The outcry would be everywhere. And the ad claims "Courtesy Matters." It also encourages to 'keep the phone on vibrate and keep the call short.' I have sat on this train and have seen blacks and women hold hour long phone conversations and even select their ringtone for their new phone, never mind vibrate mode. If the black woman was the one on the phone in this ad, it would be down in two days.

The reason is most likey that the MTA didn't want to play into the black woman stereotype of them being loud and rude on their phones in very public places (i.e. train, movies, restaurant). But they are exactly who this ad is for. And since it is not easily spelled out for them, they will miss the point completely.

I can't stand the way because of historical racism, black people can have advocacy groups, and rights supporters. Is there anything more racist than not allowing whites to have the same? Minorities rights groups are encouraged by society, yet all whites have is radical white supremacists like the KKK, who only serve to hinder white people.

Cell Phone Tumor: New Study Says Kids And Teens More At Risk For Brain Tumors From Cell Phone Use! R

Cell Phone Tumor: New Study Says Kids And Teens More At Risk For Brain Tumors From Cell Phone Use! Read on…
Cell Phone Tumor

Several studies over the years have linked cell phone use to brain tumors.

Dr. George Carlo, who was hired by the Cell Phone Industry to front a research group whose main objective was to prove cell phones safe, found-after 6 years of research-that they were anything but!

According to Dr. Carlo, “The big picture is disturbingly clear. There is a definite risk that the radiation plume that emanates from a cell phone antenna can cause cancer and other health problems.”

When he communicated this to the CEOs of the Cell Phone Industry, they ignored him.

Brain tumors, brain cancer, and findings that cell phone radiation caused leaking of the blood/brain barrier, were definitely not considered good for sales and the cell phone industry wanted to hear nothing more about it.

Dr. Carlo eventually resigned as head of the study and went on to become an activist for the regulation of wireless electromagnetic frequencies. His non-profit organization, Safe Wireless Initiative, cites the only safe wireless is no wireless and advocates a return to fiber optics, aka wired technology.
Cell Phone Use More Dangerous for Kids

Instead of taking any precautionary measures, the Cell Phone Industry went on to market cell phones to kids and teens. Kids and teens are now among the fastest growing users of cell phones.

Unfortunately, they are also the most likely to develop brain tumors from cell phone use.

A recent Swedish study head by EMF researcher Lennart Hardell found children absorbed more radiation into their brains from cell phones due to the thinness of their not yet fully developed skulls.

“People who started mobile phone use before the age of 20 have more than five-fold increase in glioma,” said Professor Hardell. “This is a warning sign. It’s very worrying. We should be taking precautions.”

Learn more about the hazards of cell phone radiation and how you can best protect yourself.

I thought of writing this, because this is one issue that i face with my cellphone, low battery!

Follow this tips and pump out more from your battery...

Turn off the 3G mode ( if you have one ), we know its of no use in India.

Whenever you are listening to music, get to the stand by mode of the phone, i.e. to your phone desktop. This would save out a lot of processing which goes in during the music mode like scrolling the song name ( oh yes! it takes up a lot of your processing power to do this! ) etc.

Turn off the Equalizer : If there is less power in your battery, go turn your equalizers off, this would again save in a lot of processing power and thus the charge would last longer.

Turn off Bluetooth and Wifi : Turn them off when you are not using it, when they are on, they would waste up the battery charge in looking for Wifi Access Points or other bluetooth devices.

Disable Animated Wallpapers or Screensavers

Disable the keypad tones... why would you need a notification when you press your phone key?

Drain your batteries ... use up all the charge in your battery and then charge it. It would help you maintain your battery for a long time.

And if you are on roaming, turn off your cellphone. The charge is eaten up when you are travelling across cities and your phone keeps on searching for cell sites. If you are listening to music on your cellphone, switch to airplane mode in that case.

These are some steps that i follow... and there may be a few more.. will update if I come across them.

A continuing compendium of reflections upon the desk calendars I found in my junk drawer recently. T

A continuing compendium of reflections upon the desk calendars I found in my junk drawer recently. The calendars run from 1976-2000 and contain much stuff.

Let's take a look at what can be gleaned from lookiing through the 1977 calendar:

This year started out with a bang! And it was not a good one as Jan. 1 was the day my father broke his arm falling on the ice at Lake Buelah near East Troy, Wis. My dad's uncle worked as a groundskeeper at the seminary on the lake and we would go out there every once in a while to fish or swim. On this particular New Year's Day, we decided to go ice skating. Uncle Clarence had shoveled the snow off a portion of the frozen lake, creating a large, smooth space of clear ice.

My younger brother, myself and my dad got out on the ice after watching Clarence skate circles around us. At least this is how I remember it 31 years later. Now, I have never gotten along very well in the cold, and it was very cold this day. So you know we were not skating -- or attempting to skate -- since when we stopped I was not yet wimpering and pleading to go home due to frozen fingers, frozen toes or any other body part.

All of a sudden, my dad fell, probably said a "bad" word and clutched his arm. Clarence helped him get up, then Dad said we had to go home. I wasn't all that upset, but I would have at least liked to get cold first. However, he drove home with one hand, since the arm with the other hand attached was broken.

Now, my dear sweet father claims that he was checked hard into the board by one of his strapping sons (most have been my brother as I was a weakling of a strongbean at the time), and although I do not recall this event in such a manner, I allow Dad to recall it any way he chooses. After all, he is in his golden years now. So, he has earned that right.

Apparently, I was unmoved by this event as I had the audacity to go to my friend Kurst's house to play the next day instead of staying with my ailing father. Hey, I was 13 years old. Cut me a break, OK?

Kurt's parents were originally from Hawaii, which was interesting for us. His mother came to school once when I was in maybe third grade or so and gave a slide show on Hawaii. She used to pack pineapple in cans. If I have the story straight (and it is possible some details of this are not entirely correct), during World War II, Kurt's parents were stuck in one of those internment camps for anyone who looked Oriental, supposedly for "their own good."

Another thing that took place the first of January was a visit from Grandma Mac, my mom's mother. I loved Grandma Mac. She always had Archway cookies in a kitchen drawer, hard candy in a dish (the soft-filled red raspberry ones were the best) and Lawrence Welk on the TV.

Another aspect of this calendar was that I had used a puple highlighter to highlight two boxes apiece from January through March. No idea what that was all about.

I also see that I'd written "count dough" a few places. This was a time when I was keeping track of my money. I kept track of what I spent and what I earned and was quite meticulous in the record keeping. And every so often during this period of time, I would tally my net worth. It was five figures at the time, two of them to the right of the decimal place.

By the time 1977 rolled around, I was more of a circular guy, with most of the dates that passed being circled instead of the traditional Xs I used the previous year. X is just so bicentennial! Pshaw!

In March, I had a phone number written down. No idea why. But I just did a reverse phone lookup for it on the Internet and it came up as an unlisted cell phone number. I'm pretty sure it wasn't someone's cell phone number in 1977. Remember the first mobile phones? They were so huge. Cannon had one on his TV show. They called them car phones cause they were usually found in people's cars.

I have "WTMJ 2:00" written down on March 19th (a Saturday). Wish I could recall what this was for. WTMJ is the big radio station in Milwaukee. It's part of a media group that included both the big daily newspapers in Milwaukee at the time -- the Journal and the Sentinel, since merged -- as well as a TV station in town. I have a feeling that because I wrote "WTMJ," I meant the radio station. It must have been a note to listen to the station at that time for some special reason. I did go to the WTMJ TV studio once when I was in Cub Scouts, but that was well before 1977. Our Cub Scout pack went to a filming of the Bozo show, some local show that aired on Saturday or Sunday mornings. It featured the clown, who did some stuff that I think was supposed to be funny. They also had kids in the audience, and they would pick some out of the crowd to play a game. My friend, Tim, got picked. I did not. But it was an experience anyway.

I kept track of all the Milwaukee Brewers' promotional days on my calendar that year. Starting with a kids day special on April 14 against the Baltimore Orioles all the way until the end of September, I wrote them all down. The Brewers played their games less than five miles from our house and we used to go fairly often. When my brother and I got old enough, my dad would drop us off at the front gate and pick us up after the game. We went to bat night once and got a red Coca-Cola bat. That was one of the coolest promotions I ever went to.

We also went when we got a gold-colored three-ring binder. It was my first recollection of a promo day, and my dad called it "present day." That was also pretty cool. We used to sit in the bleachers for $2 a seat back in those days. Talk about cheap entertainment. I can't hardly afford to go to Major League Baseball games anymore.

I remember seeing Hank Aaron hitting a home run in the bottom of the 10th inning of the second game of a doubleheader against the Texas Rangers to complete a sweep of the twinbill on July 11, 1976. It was Aaron's last year in a brilliant career and it was the second-to-last home run of his career. My brother and I took a special city bus down to the stadium and wondered if the bus would wait for us as we, along with thousands of others, waited after the game for Hank to emerge from the dugout and give a curtain call as we chanted his name and cheered for him. Later, when I became a sportswriter, I had an opportunity to interview Hank Aaron.

On May 2 (the first school day in May 1977), I started a countdown of the 31 school days remaining until the end of eighth grade. At least I'm pretty sure that's what it was. Day No. 1 was listed as June 13 (a Monday). If the final day of school was a Monday, we must have had a snow day or two added to the schedule. We typically started school the day after Labor Day and got out the second week of June. My kids start the second week of August and get out before Memorial Day. I prefer it the way we did it. I think August should be a summer vacation month. For one thing, the Indiana State Fair is till going on while kids go back to school.

The summer of 1977 was a year of camping for me. I went to a Russian language camp for almost two weeks in northern Minnesota, then took a week off, and headed to Boy Scout summer camp in northern Wisconsin.

Russian camp was cool. It was my only experience with a language camp. We used Russian money to buy candy. We had name tags with our Russian names. We spoke as much Russian as we could. We eyed the girls, played soccer, visited the Mississippi River headwaters and made friends with kids from all over the place. My dad was a Russian teacher -- learned the language in the U.S. Air Force -- and I had him for a teacher for three years.

This particular year at Boy Scout camp, I set the troop record for the mile swim and actually swam more than a mile because the guys in the rowboat in front of me went off course. I'd swam during the summer with the local parks swim club, so swimming a mile was no big deal to me. In fact, when I found out we'd gone too far, I wanted to do it again so I could lower my time even further. But I think the adults didn't feel like rowing a mile again and dissuaded me from my attempt.

I went to Boy Scout summer camp two, maybe three, times. Among the things I recall from that were our troop winning a greased watermelon competition at the beachfront games, accidentally inserting a cooking fork into my assistant pack leader's forearm (anger and frustration are a bad combination of emotions while cooking), having a slightly younger Scout read Bible passages to me and discuss them with me as we turned in at night, whittling a piece of wood into the shape of a deer's hoof and giving it to my dad, shooting a 22 very poorly at the rifle range and the final campfire on the final night.

Hello Everyone,

Spoon, from Season 1 Of Vh1's The pickup Artist, was nice enough to let me interview him. Enjoy the read!

• What is your idea of a perfect date?
--- A date that’s as random as I am. I like to pickup my date on my vintage motorcycle. It’s a great way to get close and really enjoy the surroundings. Oregon is a beautiful state. We would just ride around exploring new areas. Sometimes I like to stop and just check out a new restaurant and see what kind of DELIOUS foods they have. Well, ok sometimes the food is shit. :)

• How would you describe your ideal dream woman?
--- Tara, you are my idea dream woman. And I’m dead serious. I like gals who are down to earth, clever, kind hearted and have a great sense of humor. It’s really similar to who I am. But sadly we could never be. Jdog already said he has dibs on you first. Hahaha. I love that guy.

• What person living today do you most relate to and why?
--- I would have to say Jdog (Co-Host of Vh1 The Pickup Artist Season 1). After I left the show Jdog really showed some heart and character. He really wanted to help me change my life. So for a month he coached me (for free which would normally cost a lot) 1 on 1 and turned my life around. A lot of people don’t even recognize me anymore. I dress differently, talk deeper, and lost a lot of weight, covered with tattoos and piercings and exude personality. Plus we have the same taste in women :)

• What was your experience with women before being on The Pickup Artist Season 1?
--- I was a geeky guy who played video games pretty much all day. My social life was non existent. I was pretty damn depressed. Innocent and naïve, I had no concept whatsoever on how to be around women. I just plain didn’t know what to do. PERIOD! I wanted a girlfriend or a female I could hangout with, but didn’t know how I would meet them or attract them. I attempted to pick up women. I would always start out by saying something funny. I thought if I could just make them laugh all the time they would like me. I found out that in doing so I was only seen as entertainment for them. I would provide them with humor while other guys would come in with their confident, smooth demeanor and sweep them away right before my very eyes.

• What went through your mind when you were picked to be on the show? What were your expectations?
--- I was totally blown away when I found out I was picked. It was always a dream of mine to be on TV. I wasn’t sure what to expect from it at first till I was actually on the show. But I knew that I needed this to change and grow as a person. I knew I was an amazing guy. I just didn’t know how to show it.

• How did it feel to go into the club that first night in Austin?
--- It was horrible. It’s like you got into a car accident and then another car hits and then another hits, and another hits, etc... The longer I stayed in there the more I panicked. I’m not really the club type of guy. In the past I wouldn’t stay any longer then 10 min in a club. It’s generally not the type of people I would want to meet or get to know.

• When we were in the club that second night and you froze up, what exactly were you thinking at that moment?
--- I kind of blanked out and didn’t know what to do. Thinking about it now and I don’t really have words to describe it. But I do remember you (Tara) coming and giving me the support and motivation that I needed for that one moment. That made a huge difference for me and I was able to talk to a group of women successfully. I felt alive. I didn’t think something like that would be fun and exciting.

• Do you regret your decision to leave the show?
--- Yes, very much. BUT that’s only because I’m not the same person who left the show. Back at that time it was the right choice. The pressure of being on TV and doing what I feared most really put a lot of stress on me mentally. The pace was to fast for real change. I really want another chance to show everyone that I didn’t fail at change. I really feel that I actually changed the most.

• If you could go back and do it again, would you? What would you do differently?
--- I would do it in a heart beat. The energy I would give out. The confidence would be at a whole new level. I want that second chance on TV again to show change and to help change other people’s lives. But mostly because I want guys who were like me to know there is hope. Plus I wouldn’t have held back at wanting to fight Kosmo. I don’t like the punk ass or how fake he was on the show.

• How is your love-life and experience with women now?
--- Fantastic. I usually try and go on a date with someone new each week. I work at a jewelry booth at the Saturday Market here in Portland selling handmade women’s jewelry. So I interact with women a lot and it’s a great place for me to expand my experience with women. I get numbers all the time. Some have even bought me lunch.

• Do you think that the being on the show and learning pick-up made you change your personality?
--- My personality is still the same. I didn’t really get the chance to express who I was when I was on the show. Being shy and nervous kept my true personality on pause. Thanks to Jdog I can be who I am. Myself! I am a guy who loves women.

• How is your life now, a year after the show?
--- Looking back on myself then and who I have become now it brings a tear to my eye due to how much I’ve changed. I am definitely more confident and secure in who I am. I am not afraid to show my sensual side, I am more ‘touch’ oriented and I am definitely more comfortable around women.

• Boldest Pick-Up move?
--- Here is the scene. A beautiful, dark haired, fair skinned woman who looked like she was from Europe is sitting in this vegetarian restaurant. I approach her and begin…

Me: The falatio here is great. I know an even better spot for it.
Her: *pause*
Me: It’s right down the street.
Her: *pause* Don’t you mean ‘falafel’?
Me: Isn’t that what I’ve been saying? What does falatio mean?
Her: That you know a great place for oral sex down the street.
Me: Shit!

• What advice would you give the new guys on Season 2 of The Pickup Artist?
--- Have fun and enjoy.

• What would you tell guys out there who have difficulty with women and are in the same position that you were once in?
--- If you really want to change your life you have to really want it and be ready to work for it. Commit to the change and make it happen. Contact Jdog at http://www.myspace.com/artistjdog or http://www.askjdog.com and ask for some personal help. He wants to help and I know he will help you.

• Closing thoughts . . .
--- If you have any questions on what I have been doing exactly to change my life. Leave me a message on my MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/iknowspoon because now you can say you know Spoon.

Thanks Spoon! Keep up the amazing self work!

XOXO,
~Tara

The next time you are in a park and someone in running clothes asks to use your cellphone to ca

The next time you are in a park and someone in running clothes asks to use your cellphone to call their husband because that person just ran 3 miles to a soccer field to see her daughter play a game and since no one was there and she had just biked 24 miles and didn't want to run all the way home and potentially miss the game and she needs to find out where the game is, don't look at her like she has just asked you to pay her mortgage or to give her your left kidney, just smile and say sure and hand over your phone. You may even go so far as to offer her a ride, but I realize that may be asking way too much from society.

Also;

The next time you run into an acquaintance who is still in treatment for cancer don't mention every other person on the planet that you know with cancer and how every other person on the planet that you know with cancer just "sailed" though chemo and looks "wonderful" and has a "fabulous attitude" because even though that all may be very true and very inspiring to the few left on earth without cancer it is somewhat irritating to those of us who do because although you are trying to be nice and supportive and sympathetic it's almost like saying "Oh, Jane just sailed through that car crash she was in last month" because the truth is no one sails through chemo, it is a horrific, brutal shock to your system that really truly sucks while you are in it. Yes people recover from it and come through, just like a car crash, but the memory will always remain and while they are "healing" nicely, they didn't "sail" through anything. More like they rowed and paddled their way through chemo probably having to stop and bail the boat a few hundred times.

So maybe this Tamoxifen has made me a little irritable. Do you think? Or maybe I have moved out of my "I have cancer and might die so the world is a wonderful place and everyone loves me so I should appreciate every minute" mode. Maybe that's it and maybe that's fine. That is a tough attitude to keep up for too long. Completely unrealistic and frankly exhausting. But I do feel better getting it off my chest.

Anyway, if you have continued reading all that drivel you now get actual information.

I will be going in Thursday to have two lumps under my arm surgically removed by my favorite surgeon,Dr. Christian. He will send my lumps to be checked by the lab but hopefully they are just cysts. It will be done under local anesthesia which is good in the fact that general anesthesia is tough on the body but the thought of that needle going in my armpit makes my toes curl. So I won't think about it. I will let you all know the results. I am going to have to get in copious amounts of biking and swimming before the procedure since I will be out of commission for a little while, but I will try to check in here with you all. I'll try not to be so irritable next time.

Keeping our finances simple is one thing that has given us peace of mind and heart during the nearly

Keeping our finances simple is one thing that has given us peace of mind and heart during the nearly ten years that we've been married. Because of the choices that we have made and continue to make on a daily basis, we're able to continue on course when the financial world around us seems to be in turmoil.

Our simple money management looks like this:

We live below our means, even though our current means qualify us for some state assistance.

One of my least favorite sayings is "you spend what you earn." So not true. The very thought of spending my husband's full paycheck every month is frightening.

We lived below our means even when we had two jobs and no children. That made things much simpler when it came time to transition to one income!

We have learned so much about being content with what we are blessed with.

When an unexpected expense comes in (recently it's been doctor bills) we can write a check. The money is there. That doesn't make paying the bill any more fun, but it sure simplifies matters!

Because we live below our means, we are able to give. Giving brings peace to our lives.

Aside from our 15 year mortgage, which we are working toward paying off early, we have no debt.

We are extremely thankful to be nearly debt-free. If something were to happen to our income, we wouldn't have the added stress of trying to hang on to things that aren't yet paid for.

Payments irk me. I can't stand the thought of paying interest money for anything. I would much rather watch interest pay me in our mutual funds (which I am confident will rebound ;-). If we can't pay cash (or we just don't want to!) we don't buy it.

Having no debt leaves necessary wiggle room in the budget. Even though it's hard to watch prices go up on nearly every type of item, we can make the adjustment.

Who are the Joneses, anyway?

It's just a guess, but I picture the Joneses being incredibly stressed out about paying for all the things they've collected, watching in horror as their credit card interest accrues... on items they don't remember needing or purchasing. Again, just a guess, but who needs that?

Another thing with the Joneses. If they really can pay for all of that stuff, what are they sacrificing? Their time? Health? Relationships? Defiitely not simple, and definitely not worth it.

Again, contentment. We're content with our older home (with a nice big yard for the kids to play in and for a garden!) We're content with our tv, and our cell phone, and our two older vehicles. They get us where we're going safely.

Keeping our finances simple has been a true blessing to our marriage. The teamwork that it takes to create and implement our financial goals, and to hold one another accountable when one of us really wants something ;-) , has contributed to our unbreakable bond. We are so richly blessed.

Things that please me!

Okay, so Exquisitetagged me to write about things that please me. I am of the view the material thin

Okay, so Exquisitetagged me to write about things that please me. I am of the view the material things can never please you; they are only the source of convenience and necessity. There are certain things that I like or used to like such as movies (have my own collection), music, PC, Internet and the list goes on.

Today I'd like to pick three things that pleases me in some way.

Books:

Mark Twain said that good friends, good books and sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life. I think he's right. Good books are the ultimate source of pleasure, information, stimulation and imagination. I always feel good after reading something that touches my soul, my inner self. I would have shared my shelf picture... but er... I like privacy and to to be honest it is so stacked with books that it seems like crashing :)

I would nonetheless share the photos of two books that are unforgettable to me due to one reason or the other. The first one is called The making of Asoka. That book will always be important for me since I won it in a draw. Believe me I had never won a single draw before that. If any of you used to read children magazine Taleem-o-Tarbiat you would know that it had a quiz section and those who used to give correct answers would get gift books published by Ferozsons. The problem was that many would give correct answers and then draw would come into play. My best buddy from school, lucky girl, won thrice in a draw. While I would be like, heck! what's wrong with me. As a consolation I would only see my name published in the print.

So when I woke up one fine morning in 2002, I got a mail. I was asked to send my mailing address. I had even forgotten that I had ever participated in that online quiz. I was skeptical but I was proved wrong when within a month I got that big parcel right from UK. Won't forget it. Winning is pleasurable and then winning a book that was about my favorite movie and actors. That feeling is still alive in my memory!

Book number 2 is Still Reading Khan. To understand my passion for books and for SRK it is enough to say that I own this book. Well this is the most expensive book I ever bought. I don't think I'll ever spend that much on any book :P I bought it for 5,000 Rs :? I am not kidding but I think it was worth buying.

Windows Live Messenger/Yahoo Messenger:

Well, I am addicted to both. It connects me with my loved ones. And yes, my messenger buddy list is not something like 50 0r 100 people. It is very limited :)

Cell Phone:

Lastly, cell phone! I like my current cell phone. I am not much into playing music on phone. But I like it for video and still camera and internet connectivity. Whenever I am taking rest I end up fiddling with it. Sending texts, setting alarm (snooze is wicked), writing quick short notes, ringing up my siblings at odd times, checking the time or just to see my way in it's light when the power is out :P

After messenger it is the second best thing.

That is it on my part. Although my list could have been long but I would limit it to three things like my fellow bloggers. I wish I had cute pets to talk about. But I have none! Gosh! I am so boring! :P

I now tag:

Asma

Aadil

Sarah (Though I doubt she'd write on it because she is busy)...

This week was very bad. Monday I went to the police station and waited 2 and half hours for few damned paper - I signed them and they took a photo. The woman said they will text me when my driving license is ready to be received (approx. 4-7 days). I learned maths and slovak from 6:30 to 9 PM.
Tuesday I writed three tests (hungarian, maths and slovak). Evening I broke with my girlfriend, because we didn't have time to meet, just every Friday for a few hours and it wasn't enough so we decided to break away. I think it was a good decision in this crappy situation, but it doesn't change anything - I felt terrible because of that...
Wednesday I didn't want to go to school because I felt miserable but I had to go. I was fucking bored all day long. We had 6 boring lessons, then a lunch break and another three seminaries (one biology and two slovaks). I went home as quick as I could, there was no food, so I went to the Galeri Pub. I drank a few Pilsners (my favorite beer) and before I left I called a girl and asked a date. I waited for her about 20 minutes and when she arrived we strolled in the city. It was pretty good, but I had pain in my right leg, right kidney and head (God knows why), so I couldn't totally enjoy the date.
Thursday after the school I went to the bank and settled up the Internet Banking for my bank account. I sat before my PC and looked around in the forums, checked my mails etc. After an hour my friend visited me, he, my father and me talked a little bit and drank some wine. Dad bought 400 kg grapes and he asked me to help him to grind them.
I walked to my grandfather's house, because there is the grinder, my father and the grape-guy went there with car. I had a phone call and when I took my cell phone off, two fucking gypsy kids came to me and asked my phone for a short call. I said I haven't god credit on it, they begged to me for a minute, but when they saw I won't give my phone to them, they left me. They were about 13 years old, but when they left me, they went across the street where were a couple of older gypsies, one of them was there with his bike. When I saw the biker and the older one of the phone-beggars come across the street and they're coming towards me, I started to run. OMG I didn't think I can run so fucking quickly!!! Fortunately the Galeri Pub was only about 100 meters from that place, so I ran into there and I told the waitress what happened. I rested for a while and I left. I was very aware, I looked around in every second, my eyes were always on the distant people, I checked who is looking at me...
Daddy and me ground all the 400 kilos of grape and my mom came there with car to take us home. I had to prepare for the slovak composition.
Today after the school I came home for a while, but I went to the Galeri Pub almost immediately. It was good to be there, I had also a little work, so when I got the payment, I bought three Pilsners (to my own Pilsner Urquell labeled mug, which I brought to the Galeri today). I talked with my ex-girlfriend on Skype today. Good to know she's fine.
LOL Today I sent a text to a beautiful girl (I just remember her name and that she is beautiful and blond - I was drunk when I talked to her, so I have no idea who the hell is she) despite I knew she won't go out with me. Actually that was the reason why I texted her. I wanted to do something... She answered "Hi! Sorry, I think it's not a good idea to meet" - I thought she will send me a much nastier text.

I heard it's not going to have 3G but Verizon's wireless network is fast enough supposedly. It has 1GB of onboard storage with a 8GB micro SD card bundled in. The main problem is that I'm not a fan of touch screens even though I haven't messed with them that much. Either way I always liked Blackberry's for some reason. It's going to be on Verizon but i'm sure people will get to jailbreakin' when it drops (not that I condone such activity haha.)

I'll be in the market for a new phone this June anyway. It's probably gonna be expensive as hell. Either way I'll be keeping an eye out for this new line of Blackberries in the future.

"When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you're really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you're in the right state of mind?"

This is a really good example of a company doing something that plays to people's amusement and interest...which resulted in some widespread press coverage. My only problem is that I don't know how well I'd fair at the math problems while I'm stone cold sober.

For you text messagers, try LG's cell phone with a breathalyzer installed, as told in the CNET post.

A relationship has really gotten to its endpoint once you can delete the person from your phone. It

A relationship has really gotten to its endpoint once you can delete the person from your phone. It's a surge of empowerment; you are finally saying, I will not give myself the opportunity to communicate with this person again. It’s therapeutic too, like a cleaning ritual or fast, you’re removing the toxins out of your cell phone, and thereby out of your life. It’s almost even a false feeling of dominance – that’s right, I’m deleting you from my phone! Take that! (When most of the time, let's face it, the person you are deleting probably already deleted you; or simply could care less).

How to know it’s time to delete them from your phone?

I can always stick to the same rule of thumb I have with my wardrobe. If it’s been a year and you haven’t worn it, go ahead and let it go. Or, if you have a tendency to drunk dial and want to rid your chances completely of an embarrassing, maudlin call, delete them. It's self-protection really.

It’s sometimes a tough decision, though. I often have feelings of regret after that phone deletion. I think; wait -- maybe I would want to call him in the future. Like clothes you know you aren’t ever going to wear again, but just can’t bring yourself to give away, because what IF they came back in style, and you wanted to wear them.

It's also possible that later you will want to make this contact part of the recycled goods list – the ones you tossed out, but then around the holidays think "well, they weren't THAT bad," and give them a call. (It's only once you acquiesce and go out with them again, you realize they were THAT bad.) Another reason for keeping someone in your phone contacts is so you will know it’s them in case they ever call you again. Likely the latter will not happen, but I like to keep it as a my purported reason even if it is really the former.

We tend to delete the ones who’ve harmed us. It’s like having a souvenir of your time with them, plugged into the one thing you carry around with you wherever you go. Whenever I scroll past the name, I don’t want to think of them, or worse, in a moment of weakness, slip up and dial impusively.

I’ll admit in my time I have deleted several numbers, one of which, I had such torn feelings about, I actually wrote his number down separately on a piece of paper and stuffed it in a drawer before deleting him from my phone. Thankfully, when my nostalgic reminiscing got the better of me, that piece of paper could not be found. Must have gotten lost in the shuffle between moves. Phew.

Who hasn't got an old cell phone lying around? Almost all of us do, since we change cell phones every other year. There are programs by service carriers to recycle phones, but there are other things that you can do with those old phones, like turning them into a Skype handset. We love skype, but the headsets aren't always the best to use. There are dedicated USB/VOIP phones out there, that you will simply need to plug into your computer, but how about creating your own for a lot cheaper? Instructables author JFDuval did the same thing with his old phone. Here's how he did it.

OK almost a year ago I posted an article about Victoria Schattauer, a cheerleading coach in Goshen,

OK almost a year ago I posted an article about Victoria Schattauer, a cheerleading coach in Goshen, Ohio, who took a topless photo with a 15 year old cheerleader and the picture was sent via text/photo message to the cheerleaders boyfriend. (Read More)

Well here we go again!

This time it does hit home Sanger, Texas (Denton County) 10/08/08

A 13 year old female student at Sanger Middle School sent a nude photo of herself to several male students. One of these poor guys has been singled out by authorities and was arrested and sent to a juvenile detention center for Possession of Child Pornography.

The boy is now, as I understand it, under house arrest. The other boys that received the photo have not been charged as of yet.

WFAA Channel 8 posted on their web site, "He's a 13-year-old child. He's in middle school. He's supposed to be out there having fun, hanging out and playing football, which he loves to do. Instead, he's having to sit at home with mom and dad," said his mother.

Bethany Mitchell, a classmate said "I know some girl was taking pictures of herself and sending it to multiple guys. Obviously, they've still got their picture on their phone because they are now getting in trouble."

OK now that you got the story, or at least what I found, here is my two cents!

If you are going to charge the boy with Possession of Child Porn, you need to charge the girl with making Child Porn. Next if the only charge is Possession of... get the records of the girls cell phone and charge everyone she sent the photo too, it's only fair to the poor kid that was charged.

BUT WAIT! Don't go getting all in a tither at me just yet.

First can they prove that the boy requested the photo? If not then it was unsolicited and how can you charge him for that, you should charge the girl with, not only making it but distributing it.

Next, for God sakes he's 13, is he old enough to even know about the laws regarding Child Porn? For that matter, do you the reader know what Child Porn is? Here is a recap of my research on the matter from Last year!

Federal Statutes:

Title 18 of the United States Code governs child pornography. Chapter 110, Sexual Exploitation and Other Abuse of Children. 18 U.S.C. § 2256 defines “Child pornography” as:

“any visual depiction, including any photograph, film, video, picture, or computer or computer-generated image or picture, whether made or produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means, of sexually explicit conduct, where -

(A) the production of such visual depiction involves the use of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct;
(B) such visual depiction is, or appears to be, of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct;
(C) such visual depiction has been created, adapted, or modified to appear that an identifiable minor is engaging in sexually explicit conduct; or
(D) such visual depiction is advertised, promoted, presented, described, or distributed in such a manner that conveys the impression that the material is or contains a visual depiction of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct . . .”

Sexually Explicit Conduct:

18 U.S.C. § 2252 prohibits the production, transportation, or knowing receipt or distribution of any visual depiction “of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.” For the purposes of Title 18, 18 U.S.C. § 2256 defines a “minor” as any person under the age of eighteen years, and “sexually explicit conduct” as actual or simulated:

…….(E) lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of any person

Section (E) prohibits images of “lascivious exhibition of the genitals or pubic area.” Courts that have interpreted this section have done so broadly - “as used in the child pornography statute, the ordinary meaning of the phrase “lascivious exhibition” means a depiction which displays or brings forth to view in order to attract notice to the genitals or pubic area of children, in order to excite lustfulness or sexual stimulation in the viewer.”

Dictionary.Com defines Lascivious as:

las·civ·i·ous

Pronunciation[luh-siv-ee-uhs]

–adjective
1. inclined to lustfulness; wanton; lewd: a lascivious, girl-chasing old man.
2. arousing sexual desire: lascivious photographs.
3. indicating sexual interest or expressive of lust or lewdness: a lascivious gesture.

Texas Penal Code Section 33.021 defines "Minor" as:

(A) an individual who represents himself or herself to be younger than 17 years of age; or
(B) an individual whom the actor believes to be younger than 17 years of age.

*********************************************************************************

OK all that being said, let me state for the record CHILD PORN IS WRONG! Also there is a difference between Porn and (Nude) Art. This line does get fuzzy I admit. Some Examples:

Venus de Milo (Art or Porn)

PersianKitty.Com (Art or Porn)

Ok Those are easy! Right? What about a little more on the fuzzy side Jock Sturges and David Hamilton. Both are acclaimed photographers (of art) but both have done work with nude minors. Both have been arrested and accused of child porn, both were cleared of charges, citing their work was that of Art ond not intended for sexual arousal.

Now my last thought on this particular story is WTF are 13 year olds doing with cell phones, let alone at school?!?!?

*********************************************************************************

In a related story to this and a close relation to my story from a year ago, lets go back to Ohio. Newark, Ohio thios time. Just this past week Fox News reported a story of a 15 year old girl, from Newark Licking Valley, accused of taking nude cell phone photos of herself and sending them to high school classmates.

The girl entered a denial of juvenile charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and possession of criminal tools.

A spokeswoman for the Ohio attorney general's office says an adult convicted of the child pornography charge would have to register as a sexual offender, but a judge would have flexibility on the matter with a convicted juvenile.

OK, in this case the girl IS facing felony charges. Fox News also mentioned that local prosecutors are concidering charging those who recieved the photos. Again I think that charge is bullshit unless they can prove the receptants asked for the photos.

Maybe we should send nude photos to the authorities phones and then accuse them of invasion of our privacy!

*********************************************************************************

Well that is my two cents what is yours? Leave a comment!

Sometimes you hear a story and you just can't pull yourself away from it because it's that good. You're right at the cliff hanger and you have to hear the end no matter what. That's why I originally brought my cell phone in the shower with me. I had to read the last text in a series of three of the most amazing story from my roommate. It's no surprise my phone broke. My alarm has been going off since 7:55 this morning because I can't press the dismiss button. It's not that I didn't realize water and electronics don't mix, it's just that I was willing to take the chance. I'm a risk taker, you know. Gotta cut you're losses eventually though. I'm not happy about buying another overpriced mobile phone with my overpriced service carrier today, but hey, stuff happens.

And I think I'll pay for that new phone in cash, or at least debit. I'm about ready to throw my credit cards away after I saw my latest interest charge. The credit crisis has gone global. Iceland is practically bankrupt, Canada can hardly get loans, the Yen keeps slipping and the government is debating taking partial ownership in US banks. Oy. Whats up with Wall Street today? Nothing, hahaha. Bad joke, but seriously stocks fell again this Thursday. The DOW has been fluctuating all morning, along with the SP500 and NASDAQ.

I always like to see where sentiment lies for these major indexes every day. I find it so interesting how bullish investors can be about a particular index when everything in the market seems to be flailing. Lately, the bears have been dominating the bulls however. Checking the font page of PredictWallStreet, I can see sentiment for the SP500, NASDAQ and DJIA are all bearish, while the DJIA and SP500 are extremely bearish. This isn't too surprising after seeing and reading about the fears the credit crunch has sparked.

Harnessing the collective intelligence of the community, PredictWallStreet has published a bunch of forecasts today. Because of the accuracy of the forecasts (they outperform major indexes like the SP500), the more the better!

There are a few banks forecasted today, which seems appropriate given the recent headlines. Out of the four I'm looking at, only one is forecasted to close up and that bank is Bank of America (BAC). In my opinion, this makes sense. Through all the dramarama regarding banks lately, Bank of America seems to have been the only one unscathed for the most part, staying out of the headlines and away from the eery B's-bankruptcy, bailout, buyout. This is not to say BAC isn't struggling, but maybe it's struggling less. Citigroup (C) is forecasted to close down, along with Morgan Stanley (MS) and Wachovia (WB). Sentiment for C, MS, and WB is all bearish. Looks like Wells Fargo and C can't save Wachovia right now. There down almost 17% right now at 4.21. This love triangle is more o no no, than o la la.

Apple (AAPL) has been seeing some gains the past few days, after a bit of struggling. AAPL is forecasted to close up today. Looks like Research in Motion's new Blackberry Storm did little to move King iPhone. Apple is also reported to be selling there new MacBooks under the scary $1,000.00 price tag; a good move in my opinion. Deals and steals are gonna be what consumers are mainly looking for now. Apple is up 2.5% to about 92.00. When I look at sentiment, I can see that it has been dragging slowly out of its down position and is becoming more bullish.

Wal-Mart (WMT) has been forecasted to close up today. This seems odd to me considering there has been a decrease in consumer confidence and thus a decrease in consumer spending. But I am led to the conclusion that consumers are turning to bargain super stores like Wal-Mart to save wherever they can. Looking at 1 month sentiment and overlaying the price quote, I can see that even when the price dropped for Wal-Mart, sentiment remained relativley strong. Right now sentiment has fallen along with the price but I expect both to be up soon as holiday shopping is right around the corner and is always a time of giant spending.

Ay, I'm off to buy a new cell phone :(
