Another youtube artist I hope to see music on iTunes very soon is Airto He sounds like Stevie Wonder and has just some amazing singing ability. I hope he keeps with the old style songs and I think he will do great. Amazing vocals and talented on many instruments as well. In the days of old I hated people who covered other artists' songs. I mean if you aint write the song dont sing it pretending its yours. But now, I have come to realize that some people can sing some songs better. They can own the song sometimes making it better than the original. And this girl here absolutley OWNS this song. Rappers from the South, I can barely understand you, are you speaking english? Even some of the rappers I used to like are having issues these days.

So much on my miiiiiiiind.  Ever just really want the week to be over?  Heck, it's only the first week of classes and I'm already emotionally drained.

However, I am understanding everything in my classes!  Yes, that means the science ones too.  And no P-Chem Lab tomorrow, so that means I get to sleep in. YAY!

Today I was so proud of myself because I've finally figured out my way to my chemistry classes in St. Benilde Tower (a.k.a. Germantown Hospital) without getting lost.  Unfortunately, after my classes today I took a turn down a wrong stairwell and ended up in the psych ward...where there are still patients.  I really need to come back in my next life as a homing pigeon in order to redeem myself.

Today should have been my schedule from hell, but it wasn't that bad.  Then again, it didn't last the whole time.  We got out of African Literature a good hour early.  Oh yeah, and that class was NOT what I thought it would be.  I thought it would be more like Things Fall Apart or Amistad type things.  Instead, it's all about African political activists and such.  I was thinking it was going to be more along the lines of African Culture.  Buzz kill...

Taping footage for the Meet the Masque opening video was fun.  It took a little longer than we thought, but it was worth it.  Oh if only Emily had time on her hands to make a bloopers reel!

Here's my list of things I want to do or else I'm going to be in deep shit in some way or another:

-Find my CD of The Midterm
-Prepare my "lesson plan" for my education class on Wednesday
-Stay on top of my science classes
-Read a whole book that I've been assigned for once
-Get the Activities Fair poster finished
-Find the supplies I need at ACMoore
-Practice my song for auditions
-Not get sick

If I don't do everything on that list, I'm gonna be screwed.

Just reading the lyrics stirs up so many feelings. Just the first lines alone iare awesome. I wish I could be a song writer, its so poetic, so perfect. I find it amazing how all my feelings deep inside can be summed up in just 60 words or so. I wanna scream this song out loud, but I don't know all the words just yet. When I find something I like I tend to go into an obsessive repetitous loop of overkill.  When it comes to music I'll know a great song if it can pass this phase and months down the road it'll still bring me 4 minutes of joy while giving off a blank stare at my office wall.  Today, that song is Adele's Chasing Pavements.  I've discovered of this song only recently from my nursery childhood friend, Matt.  In my opinion, he's an awesome musician who recently inspired me leaving my face all smiled out.  He's had an inspiration of his own which lead to his YouTube videos which will be covered in a future article.  This song has been playing for at least 4 hours in my office today.  Hope you like the clips.  Begin the overkill!

My choice is to stop chasing pavements...they lead no where, as the song warns...

"should i just, keep on chasing pavements??" adele croons passionately, and i sigh to myself and scroll my cursor over more unpopped bubblewrap as plastic-y popping noises mix in with rich instrumentals. 

"should i give up? or should i just keep chasing pavements.. even if it leads nowhere?" my stomach is grumbling unhappily with the weight of an enormous plate of cheese and chili-smothered nachos i hoovered several hours ago. my white mocha is too sweet, stupid newbie baristas. the song builds up and rings in my ears and swells up in my soul and i feel like i

definitely need to start actually studying.

Il a fallu combattre la chaleur moite de la salle en agitant tout ce qui pouvait servir d'éventail (carte postale, tickets de concert), subir la première partie avec Ludeal (désolée mais je n'ai pas du tout accroché), avant de voir le nom d'Adele s'illuminer de 220 volts avec la centaine d'ampoules qui composaient son nom.

Elle est arrivée sur la scène souriante et rayonnante, habillée d'un simple jean slim et d'une blouse noire aux manches trois-quart, chaussettes aux pieds (!!!) comme si elle nous recevait dans son salon chez elle. Elle aussi souffrait de la chaleur puisqu'elle est arrivée sur scène les cheveux attachés à la va-vite avec un élastique, la frange plaquée avec une barrette pour que celle-ci évite de se coller sur son front pour cause de perspiration. Malgré la serviette avec laquelle elle s'épongeait la figure à la fin de chaque chanson et la bouteille de bière pour se désaltérer (elle n'a pas ouvert sa petite bouteille d'eau soigneusement placée sur le tabouret par les personnes de la régie...), elle a du retirer ses faux-cils sous les rires et les applaudissements de la salle "because otherwise I can't see you!".

Elle sait mettre le public dans sa poche la petite Adele avec sa fraîcheur, sa spontanéité et ses pitreries. En arrivant sur scène, elle avait accueilli son public d'un "meurci d'être vénou ce souar", en français dans le texte, tout en lisant les mots qu'elle avait gribouillé au stylo bic sur sa main.

Avant d'attaquer "Crazy for you" en acoustique, elle s'excuse d'avance pour les fausses notes car elle revient tout juste de sa tournée américaine où elle était "really drunk the whole time". Elle a même fait une pause et une grimace complice en direction de la salle qui a retenu sa respiration, avant d'entonner la première note haute sans aucun couac. D'ailleurs il paraît impossible qu'une seule fausse note puisse sortir de sa bouche, tellement on a l'impression qu'elle maîtrise sans effort cette voix flexible et puissante.

Elle a chanté presque toutes les titres de son album, en compagnie d'un guitariste, un pianiste, un batteur et d'un quatuor de cordes (violons et violoncelle) avec en plus une reprise de "Dreaming of you" des Corals. Elle a terminé son tour de chant avec "Chasing Pavements" puis s'est en allée malgré un tonnerre d'applaudissements de près de 4 minutes pour obtenir un rappel, hélas en vain.

Elle sera au Montreux Jazz Festival le 12 juillet.

Chasing Pavements by Adele, from her debut LP - 19. Recently discovered the magic talent of this 19 year old London lass. Great timing in that I caught this performance on Letterman this week.

Adele's current live show is much different than the stripped-down performance that I saw at New York City's Joe's Pub in March. Currently on her first full-scale North American tour, Adele now performs with an eight-piece band that features a four-piece, all-female string section. Adele's powerhouse voice backed by the tight backing band is quite something. Mixing her own songs with covers of tunes by The Coral, Bob Dylan, and Etta James, Adele put on a great night of music that left the packed house at The Highline Ballroom more than satisfied.
