McCain blames the nasty campaign on the lack of town-hall meetings?

He says he's repudiated every negative thing said?

He's basically whining.

On the other hand, Scheiffer is asking very tough questions.

-Egmont

9:25

McCain actually looked at Obama!

Even Fox News!

I've noticed that McCain always uses a yellow notepad. Obama uses a white notepad. Did anyone else notice that?

McCain is defiantly more aggressive in this debate than the previous two debates.

Oh shit McCain got game. "I'm not Bush, if you want to run against Bush you should've ran 4 years go"

History time!

-PD

9:18 EST

I can answer my question, I guess, about McCain's aggressiveness. It's a thin line, and I think he's crossing it, from being feisty but cordial to going overboard.

He continues to propound his questionable economic policies, such as freezing spending. Hatchet and then a scalpel? You can't operate on an arm after you amputate it.

Maybe his pork-riddance will help with the Jewish vote in Florida!

-Egmont

9:14 EST

By the way, Mario is also a plumber. Please, some one think of Mario.

I really hope Joe is watching the debate. Joe, Obama's tax cuts won't affect you until 2010 when Bush's tax cut ends. Obama has said middle class about 6-7 times, McCain - 0.

-PD

9:10 pm EST

McCain seems to be trying to stray from his stump speeches more, but he's not doing it particularly gracefully. However, if he can pull it off, and Obama sticks to what people have heard before, he might have some advantage. It's a risk. The "Joe the Plumber" anecdote could provide Obama with a way to rebut, easily.

Also, I wonder how many times Obama will say, "The last point I want to make is..."

-Egmont

I do want to hear more.

Ask them those follow up questions Big S.

It could make a difference...when they are sitting at the table....their feet won't hurt.

Live blog! =D

-PD

Questions to ponder:

McCain: Which McCain will we see tonight? The partisan McCain, or the reach-across-the aisle McCain? Will he name members of his cabinet? Will he be on the attack, and continue his campaigns overall approach, or will he try to be the open, relaxed, 2000-era McCain?

Obama: He's spending so much money getting his message out that all he really has to do is not screw up, and stay on message. McCain might try to throw him off, but that could be pretty risky for him.

Scheiffer: What kind of questions will he be asking? Safe, stump-speech questions, or hard-hitting questions? Will they focus only on the economy and domestic issues, Obama's strong point, or will they expand to other issues; and if so, how much?

-Egmont

Alright, we (Egmont and me) are going to be posting our thoughts throughout the debate. I'm using Egmont's Mac so...if I fuck up don't blame me. :P

The debate has high expectations...and by high expectations I expect it to be pretty much similar to the first two.

Some news today...

Obama is under fire for starting baseball game 18 minutes late

I finally did it!

I always wanted to have my own gaming blog but I always thought it's a quite hassle to manage two blogs at the same time. But I finally got the urge and the guts to do it. You can say I was motivated by my fellow friend and blogger, Mohammed who has his own gaming blog, which I find it very interesting and nicely focused (not to mention his other game-related responsibilities). I know it's going to be hard but I'm pretty sure it's going to be exciting as well. Of course, I will not abandon Final Haven. I'm still going to update it as I always do, but if you crave for more gaming-centric posts, then Gamer Quest is your destination; although, I'll still keep posting reviews about videogames in this blog as well. So, don't worry, nothing will be changed in terms of format.

I hope you have a wonderful time there.

In the spirit of connecting human and natural systems in everyday life I was searching the web for some inspirational blogging material. I found this very simple little design that represents a shift from human made to naturally utilized materials. It is a regular planter you could put in your home but is made out of a tree stump. This is interesting in a number of ways, in an ecological sense it is one less thing (a pot) that we will consume energy making and then throw away. And even more interestingly it provides a change in thinking that is more connected to nature and I think could have some real affect on the people inhabiting the space where it is placed. Now this is a very small design but if we designed everything we did with this attitude our lives would be filled with a more rich and engaging feeling of the natural environment and our connectedness to it. Many small changes can instigate a revolution.

I have an xml file with a listing of images that I need for a site. Typically I fire up IPython with Amara and do my xml wrangling there. But I also needed the files. I thought about using python to also grab and save the files but a little search led to this post. Ironically, while the tip to use Python is good, there was a tip to use curl to get the feed, grep to parse the images, and finally xargs to feed it to wget for downloading.

Thinking Serious » Using Python to Grab Images From a Web Site

curl -s http://99designs.com/contests/6999/feed | grep -Po “src=\”.*(png|jpg)” | grep -o “http.*” | xargs wget -q

My situation is a bit different though. There are no extensions on the files, they are in a tag, and I need to rename them with extensions. After a little Googling I used this which worked very well.

curl -s http://domain.tld/feed | egrep -o "<tag>.*</tag>" | egrep -o "<tag>(http.*)</tag>" | sed -e 's/<[^>]*>//g'
for f in *; do mv ./"$f" "${f}.jpg"; done

I still need to do some xml wrangling with Amara but the files are now just need to be moved to the right directories. Nice.

It hit me the other day that thereason I switched from contacts back to glasses so many times is because they were uncomfortable to me. But the truth is that contacts and glasses are both super uncomfortable. So I thought i would post about some tips to making contact lenses a bit more comfortable.

The first thing to consider is contact lense care. Cleaning your is a bit of a hassle to do it, but it's very important to make it routine. If you buy a "Non Rub" slution it will make it a lot easier. Also, don't get cheap solution or cleaner to save $2. It's totally worth it to get a good brand since you're putting these things in your eyes. Besides, a big bottle of solution is like $7 and lasts about a month, so you're not breaking the bank. Plus it helps reduce risk of eye problems that are inherant to contact wearing.

Next, don't clean your case with soap or water. It dries it ourt and can screw up your contacts. It's better just to rinse it out with "no rub" solution.

And carry eyedrops with you just in case. In windy places it can get pretty bad and a little bottle of eyedrops makes all the difference.

Some people have a hard time with contacts around cigarettes. The best solution to that is don't smoke. And don't hang around people that smoke.

These tips should help out a lot, and make your experience with contacts a bit more pleasant.

Ciao!

With the nights getting colder and longer and Halloween and Christmas not far away, one date still in TV producers' diaries still to go is the famous National television awards!

Hosted again in London's magnificent Royal Albert hall the ceremony will be presented by TV personality Sir Trevor McDonald with a host of guests presenting awards along the way. Now voting for the real winners is underway and you can vote at www.nationaltvawards.com

This years ceremony wages great battles between 'Ashes to Ashes' and 'Doctor Who' whilst it also will separate (for another year) 'Coronation Street' and 'Eastenders'. It is also going to host the battle between the reality TV series' with 'Dancing on Ice', 'The X factor' and of course 'Britain's Got Talent;' hoping to triumph over each other.

Two contenders that are up against each other which has dominated the media recently too is the fact 'Doctor Who' stars Catherine Tate and David Tennant going head to head. And this is for one of the most prestigious awards, the outstanding drama performance award.

So after a great year of interesting television it is almost time to see who really has made an impact. We've had drama in the Big Brother household, trouble in the celebrity jungle, heartbreak in Ashes to Ashes and who can forget Sir Alan's recruit for his next apprentice!

This years ceremony takes place on the 29th October and promises to be quite an evening. Check back here on KennethWatt.com for more National television awards news as it comes! And we can hope for an evening of thrills and surprises along the way!

Cosmetic contacts are contacts that change the way your eyes look. There are hundreds of different types. The most common ones are the ones that change your eye color, but you can also get really weird ones like animal eyes or even glowing contact lenses. I just recently learned about the contacts that glow in the dark and I haven't tried them myself but they seem pretty awesome. 'm gonna look into getting some to freak out a few of my friends.

You can get them from a few places online or pick some up at a novelty shop. they usually run you between $25 and $40 per pair, but it's well worth it since you have so many options. And they go with anything. I will post later to let everyone know what I think of the glowing contacts. I'm not sure what brand I'll try first.

Ciao!

"Pedalantemente legaus"!
