The story starts out with young Matt Murdock, who lives with his father the former boxer Battlin’ Jack Murdock. He is a quiet boy and his father wants him to stay out of trouble and take his studies seriously in order to become successful in life. But one day everything changes, when while trying to save a blind man from being run down by a truck transporting toxic waste, he gets involved in an accident. In the resulting crash, some of the waste spills into Matt’s eyes and blinds him permanently. Somehow the blindness however not only augments his other senses, but magnifies them tenfold. When Matt is released from the hospital and returns to his favorite Gym he is met by failure and frustration, but then when he almost gives up on himself a man approaches him. He calls himself Stick, says that he is also a blind man and wants to train Matt and turn him into a warrior. Their training is hard, but soon enough Matt learns how to concentrate and use his other four senses to his advantage. When his father, who was paid off to throw a fight, wins his match and is afterwards killed by the mobs goons, Matt swears to avenge him. However, while attacking his enemies, something goes terribly wrong and a young girl dies during a struggle. As a result, Stick abandons him and Matt leaves his crime fighting days behind him. Years later, while studying law at a renowned University, he runs into a girl named Elektra, a girl whose feminine charms he can’t escape.

I don’t want to go into too much detail, as the story should not be spoiled to any of you. Let’s just say, that this short synopsis only covers two of the original five issues, so there is still a lot that happens before Matt puts on the costume of the Daredevil. Frank Miller once again imagines a very dark and somber tale. His New York is ruled by the Kingpin a fearless crime lord, who rules the city with an iron fist. The origin tale of Daredevil is both emotionally gripping and action packed to the brim. John Ramita Jr.’s art is spectacular and simple at once. He manages to make the action sequences feel alive and gives the characters speed and agility. This book should not be missed by any fan of the Daredevil and also those who are not familiar with the character should take a look.

Wreszcie udało mi się dotrzeć do kina (mimo, że mam je praktycznie po drugiej stronie ulicy) i zobaczyć długo wyczekiwanego Mrocznego rycerza. W tym czasie multipleks zdążył już wywietrzeć z tłumów, a ja ponownie zaobserwowałem, że samotna wycieczka na film, nie jest wcale taka cool. Spokojnie, KNO nie przemienia się w emoblog. Thanks God, mamy blogosferę, gdzie mogę sobie poużywać ;)

Najpierw małe wprowadzenie. Kiedy na początku lat 90. do Polski przybyły pierwsze amerykańskie komiksy, wydawane pod jakże zgrabnym szyldem TM Semic, podzieliłem się z bratem superbohaterowymi fascynacjami. On kolekcjonował Spider-Mana, a ja Batmana. Pamiętam też, kiedy pierwszy raz przeczytałem i obejrzałem Mrocznego Rycerza w wersji Franka Millera. To był ten styl mściciela z Gotham, który najbardziej mi odpowiadał. Oczywiście, kiedy pojawiły się ekranizacje autorstwa Tima Burtona, byłem zachwycony, ale dziś myślę, że chyba dlatego, że nie miałem porównania. Niektóre elementy tej historii pominę milczeniem, bo po co się denerwować wspominając to, co powyczyniał Joel Schumacher. A potem stała się jasność i nadszedł Nolan ze swoją świtą. A właściwie zapadł mrok.

Mrok, tego właśnie szukałem, to najbardziej pociągało mnie w postaci Batmana. Burtonowska wizja była dla mnie trochę zbyt kolorowa, to nie był mój jarmark. Nolan był gościem, który mógł sprostać zadaniu zmierzenia się z ciemną stroną duszy Człowieka-Nietoperza. Lubię jego spojrzenie i zaangażowanie w kino, mam satysfaakcję z gry, którą reżyser bardzo umiejętnie prowadzi z widzem. Dobrze się razem bawimy. No to juz chyba nie będzie zaskoczenia, że i tym razem było dobrze i że napiszę coś dobrego.

Powiem krótko - rozrywka na wysokim poziomie, nawet się zdziwiłem, że to aż 152 minuty, tak to sprawnie nakręcone. Odpuszczę sobie zachwyty nad warstwą techniczną, bo wiadomo, że jak się ma wysoki budżet, to można kupić najlepszych specjalistów, zrobić świetne zdjęcia, nagrać znakomity dźwięk i jeszcze to wszystko mistrzowsko pomontować. I się udało. Dodam jeszcze, że efekty specjalne są tam, gdzie być powinny, nie są przesadzone i nie przeszkadzają. Ale klimat, o to mi chodziło. Oh yes, you made my day ;)

Można z całą pewnością, że po tym filmie słowo "szaleństwo" nabrało całkiem nowych znaczeń. Oto przeciwko Batmanowi stanęło dwóch największych psycholi, o jakich słyszał świat. Joker i Two-Face.

Najpierw ten pierwszy. Wiem, że w obliczu śmierci Heatha Ledgera, pisanie o jego roli jest balansowaniem na granicy kiczu i nastolatkowej fascynacji zmarłym idolem. Ale siedząc dziś w kinie w ogóle nie myślałem o tym, że mam przed sobą jakiegoś aktora. Widziałem tylko wielkiego świra, wariata i psychopatę. Scena ze "znikającym" ołówkiem autentycznie mnie przeraziła. Joker nie był tu żadnym klaunem, to był perwersyjny anarchista, czerpiący satysfakcję z braku poszanowania dla reguł i zasad. Pewnie, że pamiętam Jacka Nicholsona z pierwszego Batmana. Ale właśnie, pamiętam, że to był Wielki Jack. Ten Joker pozostanie dla mnie tylko i aż Jokerem. Postacią do cna chorą i przerażającą. Za parę lat będzięcie nią straszyć swoje dzieci.

Two-Face wcale nie jest gorszy, choć długo się rozkręca. Aaron Eckhart daje radę. Bardzo podobała mi się jego charakteryzacja po wypadku, taka odrealniona, bliska komiksowym wyobrażeniom. W tym szaleństwie naprawdę jest metoda.

Na plus odbieram również wymianę aktorki grającej Rachel Dawes. Niech Katie Holmes zajmuje się jednak rodziną i kościołem scjentystów, bo w poprzedniej części była zdecydowanie zbyt drewniana. Co prawda Maggie Gyllenhaal też nie ma zbyt wielkiego pola do popisu, ale i tak bardziej mnie przekonuje.

I wreszcie Jego Mroczność w pełnej krasie. Bale jaki jest, wszyscy wiemy, poniżej pewnego poziomu nie schodzi. Ważniejsze było dla mnie, jak Nolan poprowadzi tym razem postać. I przez dłuższą część filmu byłem rozczarowany. Batman był zbyt jednowymiarowy, niemal przezroczysty. Wydawał się rycerzem bez skazy, tak jakby zapomniano o tym, że jest przecież Mrocznym Rycerzem. Ale sama końcówka wynagrodziła moje oczekiwanie. Mrok ponownie zapanował nad światem. Batman różni się od innych superbohaterów tym, że tak naprawdę nie ma żadnych nadprzyrodzonych mocy i jest po prostu Brucem Waynem, ze wszystkimi jego słabościami. Ta część jego osobowości jest najbardziej fascynująca i bardzo bym sobie życzył, żeby w tę stronę eksploatować dalej Gotham i okolice.

Gdy wyszedlem z kina, z niewiadomych powodów wydało mi się, że Sonic Youth będzie w stanie utrzymać ten nastrój. Idąc z Evol w uszach przez mroczne osiedle, wyobrażałem sobie jak wszystko płonie. Jakże plastyczna wizja. Chyba Nolan osiągnął to, co chciał.

Dziś bez części video, żeby nie psuć przyjemności tym, którzy jeszcze nie byli w kinie.

5.   This film from Robert Rodriguez is nearly a panel by panel remake of the series written by Frank Miller. With its film noir style, amazing camera work, and an all-star cast, it is no wonder that Sin City has made it onto this list.

4. Groundbreaking is just one of the ways to describe this film from Zack Snyder (based on yet another Frank Miller story). Other ways to describe include: action-packed, bloody, exhilerating, and amazing. Utilizing the bullet time film technique originated from The Matrix in a swords and sandels action film was a wise choice from the director, adding to the granduer of the Spartan warriors in 300.

3. What can we say, watching this movie just makes you want to dress like a pilgrim and overthrow your government. Directed by James McTeigue who worked on all three Matrix films, Dark City, and more is an updated version of Alan Moore's graphic novel by the same name. It is nothing less than inspiring and features all the strangeness that one would expect from Alan Moore.

Granted they updated the origin story to fit in more with modern times, but the result was a action-packed, special effects extravaganza that lends itself quite easily to repeat viewing.

Bale plays millionare Bruce Wayne and Batman with equal skill, Ledger's Joker is now legendary, Ekhart as Two-Face by far tops Tommy Lee Jones' version, and it sits at #2 in all time box office earnings with $504,798,337 and climbing under its belt.

Multiverso es un término usado para describir a un hipotético grupo de todos los universos posibles; generalmente usado en la ciencia ficción, aunque también como consecuencia de algunas teorías científicas, para describir a un grupo de universos que estan relacionados (universos paralelos). La idea de que el universo que se puede observar es solo una parte de la realidad física dio luz a la definición del concepto "multiverso".

A continuación os vamos a contar como usa la factoría DC Comics (Supermán, Batmán...) el concepto de multiverso en sus obras, y como ello permite que dos Batmán o dos Supermán coexistan en las mismas páginas, proveniendo ambos de universos distintos...

El Multiverso es uno de los hallazgos clásicos de los cómics de DC y, a la vez, uno de sus mayores quebraderos de cabeza. En los tebeos de la editorial, varios personajes iguales pueden coexistir en las mismas o en diferentes página. Eso significa que, sin problema, se pueden ver dos Superman, o dos Batman o dos cualquiera. Cada uno de ellos viene de un mundo distinto.

Sin duda, la idea del multiverso ha permitido historias clásicas de la editorial, como todos los cruces entre la JSA y la JLA previos a Crisis en Tierras Infinitas. Además, a media que DC iba comprando otras editoriales, los personajes de éstas se incorporaban a la continuidad de la editorial simplemente diciendo que venían de "otra tierra".

Sin embargo, hubo un momento en que tantos personajes duplicados, tantas historias paralelas, hicieron difícil que el lector nuevo pudiese leer un cómic de DC sin perderse. Por ejemplo, ¿cómo se entendía que en unos tebeos Batman se hubiese casado e incluso hubiese muerto y en otros se pareciese al que ahora todos conocemos? Eran historias que se publicaban a la vez y que podrían haber vuelto loco a cualquiera que no fuese ya seguidor de DC.

En la editorial, en una maniobra comercial excelente que dio,a demás, un buen resultado en forma de tebeo, se solucionó todo reseteando su historia en Crisis en Tierras Infinitas, la saga que involucró a todo el Universo DC y que sirvió para que todos los personajes empezasen de cero. En principio, gracias a ella, desapareció el Multiverso, pero el paso de los años, y en especial Crisis Infinita y 52, lo han traído de vuelta.

Crisis Infinita fue una especie de homenaje a los 25 años de las primeras Crisis. Desde aquel reseteo, DC había cometido muchos nuevos errores y la continuidad empezaba a tener un embrollo considerable, la mayoría de las veces por culpa de los propios jefazos de la editorial, que crearon sagas y eventos anuales que no hicieron otra cosa que liar la madeja.

Con Crisis Infinita, no se empezó de cero, pero se solucionaron algunos problemas graves de determinados personajes. Y, además, se dio vida a un nuevo multiverso. A diferencia del pre-Crisis, el de ahora es limitado. Sólo existen 52 mundos, de los que ni siquiera conocemos todos, porque van a pareciendo salteadamente en distintos cómics de la editorial, como por ejemplo Cuenta atrás a Crisis Final.

Éstos que vienen a continuación son algunos de los mundos más importantes del nuevo Multiverso:

• TIERRA-1: Nueva Tierra es el nombre oficial del principal mundo DC, el que surge en Crisis Infinita #6. Si estás leyendo cualquier cómic normal de DC, lo más probable es que esté ambientado en Tierra-1.
• TIERRA-2: Un mundo donde todos los héroes pertenecen a la Sociedad de la Justicia. No hay ni Superman (pues era el Kal-L que muere al final de Crisis Infinita, cuando comprueba que estaba equivocado), ni Power Girl, puesto que ella es la que vemos en series como la JSA. Aparece por primera vez en el último número de 52.
• TIERRA-3: Un mundo donde los papeles están cambiados. Es el hogar del Sindicato del Crimen de América, la versión maligna de la JLA. Los héroes aquí son gente como el Joker. Aparece brevemente en 52 y en breve lo vamos a poder ver en la edición española de Cuenta Atrás a Crisis Final.
• TIERRA-11: Todos los héroes de este mundo son como los de la tierra original, pero con los sexos cambiados. Así, Batman es Batwoman, Superman es Superwoman y Wonder Woman es Wonderman.
• TIERRA-12: La tierra del futuro de la serie de animación Batman Beyond.
• TIERRA-19: La línea Elseworld servía a DC para historias fuera de continuidad. COn la llegada del Multiverso, algunas de ellas se han incorporado a las historias oficiales, como el excelente Gotham: Luz de Gas de Brian Augustyn y Mike Mignola.
• TIERRA-22 - La tierra de Kingdom Come (Mark Waid y Alex Ross).
• TIERRA-30 - La Tierra de Superman: Rojo (Mark Millar y Dave Jonson).
• TIERRA-31 - El mundo del Batman maduro de Frank Miller: es decir, de las historias del Retorno del Señor de la Noche y de DK2.
• TIERRA-43 - La tierra de Red Rain (Doug Moench y Kelley Jones) donde Batman es un vampiro tras su enfrentamiento con el mismísimo Drácula.
• TIERRA-50 - Todas las series de Wildstorm viven en este mundo.

Hay muchos más mundos, hasta completar la cifra de 52. Como veis, DC trata, con este nuevo Multiverso, de aprovechar las ventajas de tener varios mundos "oficiales", pero sin que la cosa se le vaya de madre. Lo malo es que Cuentra Atrás es una serie tan aburrida que, de momento, no se está sabiendo aprovechar el potencial de la idea. Veremos a dónde lleva todo y cuánto tardamos en vivir un nuevo reseteo de la historia de DC.
