GnR will always have a special place in my heart. When I was at the tender young age of 6, I received my first cassette tape ever, from my older cousin. That tape was Appetite for Destruction. It had a song on it that I called the police song because of the siren, but you may know it as Welcome to the Jungle.  I remember being mesmerized by the cassette liner that had some crazy picture of a scary robot and some girl with her boob hanging out. I didn't quite understand that the robot was raping the girl, but I knew it was cool.  Thanks GnR for exposing me to my first image of machine on human rape, I look forward to Chinese Democracy.

Kawałek "If The World" znalazł się bowiem na ścieżce dźwiękowej do filmu "Body of Lies". Z kolei "Shackler's Revenge" będzie dostępny w grze video "Rock Band 2".

Materiał powstaje od 1994 roku, a jego produkcja pochłonęła już około 14 milionów dolarów, o czym pisałem już wcześniej.

Cuando era un adolescente, las fotografías de Axl Rose llenaban las carpetas de muchas chicas del instituto (desde heavies hasta pijas) y Guns N' Roses formaba parte de la lista VIP de grupos musicales. Hoy, seguramente muchos adolescentes no sepan siquiera quién es Axl Rose.

Desintegrada por las drogas y el ego y las excentricidades de Axl Rose, la banda, que cuenta como único mérito haber publicado en 1987 uno de los mejores discos de la historia del hard rock -Appetite for Destruction- vuelve ahora a las portadas con un regreso por muy pocos ya esperado. 

El 23 de noviembre,  Guns N' Roses lanzará un nuevo disco, Chinese Democracy, que se pondrá a la venta en la tienda Best Buy, y del cual ya se pueden escuhar dos temas en el videojuego Rock Band 2 y en la película Body of lies.

Han pasado nada menos que 17 años desde la publicación de los Use your illusion I y II, con los cuales Rose firmó la decrepitud de la banda; y 15 años desde la salida de The Spaghetti Incident?, último trabajo de estudio de Guns N' Roses, todo de versiones. 

En 1994, Guns N' Roses -o más bien Axl Rose- anunciaba un nuevo disco en el que estaba trabajando y al que pondría por título Chinese Democracy. Pues ese álbum llega 14 años después, tras haber sido anunciado año tras año, hasta haber frisado la condición de leyenda urbana. Ahora que parece que sí se va a publicar, se comenta que ha costado 30 millones de euros, lo cual no me extraña dada la trayectoria de este disco y de Axl Rose, el único que se mantiene de la formación original.

La firma es la de Guns N' Roses, pero el disco -que nadie se engañe- es exclusivo de Axl Rose.

Y que nadie descarte un enésimo contratiempo de última hora...

En septiembre en un Blog fueron filtradas rolas del disco indevidamente levantaron una demanda contra el wey del blog ahi un chavo de 27 años que se llama Kevin Cogill que fue puesto en custodia por las autoridades de los Angeles y en la corte admitio haber filtrado 9 rolas del disco que esta pronta a su salida, como era de esperarse los abogados dicen que esto provoco perdidas millonarias para Guns 'N' Roses, si solo se estan compartiendo cuando salga el disco los fans lo van comprar a huevo.

Yo les iba a poner las rolas, pero no quiero que Slash me vegan a partir la madre mas si anda pedo, con eso que dice que todos los que filtraron sus rolas quiere que se pudran en la carcel. XD

Bueno si los que han jugado Guitar Hero II ahi viene una rola que es adelanto de su nuevo disco el track es Shackler’s Revenge” y tambien en los creditos del final de la movie de Leo Dicaprio y Russel Crowe que se llama "Body Of Lies" se puede escuchar algo de lo nuevo de la rola “If the World”.

Otro detalle La bebida Dr. Pepper, que había prometido regalar una lata de su bebida “a todos en Norteamérica” si la banda lanzaba el disco antes de que terminara el año, parece convencida de mantener su compromiso. Tony Jacobs, Vice Presidente de marketing de Dr. Pepper dijo: "Estamos esperando escuchar 'Chinese Democracy' como los otros fans de Guns 'N' Roses. Pero si los rumores son ciertos, estamos poniendo a Dr Pepper a enfriar" que cumpla putitos jajajaja.

]]> http://ondeafears.wordpress.com/?p=2305 Fri, 10 Oct 2008 13:00:47 +0000 Jason Austinite http://ondeafears.com/2008/10/10/guns-n%e2%80%99-roses-%e2%80%93-chinese-democracy-finally-to-be-released/ For the last week or two, some news outlets have been reporting that the long-awaited and mythical album Chinese Democracy by Guns N’ Roses will finally be released on November 25.  Right.  I’ve heard that one before.  What seems to provide these reports with the air of legitimacy is that fact that the news comes directly from the mouth of the band's manager to Best Buy employees at a convention, the company through which the “band” will reportedly release the album exclusively.  Could it even be possible that, after over a decade of waiting, one of the most famous unfinished records in history will finally be released to the public?  Will it be any good?  Will anyone even care?

Probably not.  On all three counts.  First, for the past few years, we have heard tons of stories like these, coming from some in an even better position to talk about the release date than the Best Buy rep mentioned above, such as Axl Rose himself.  He’s written several posts on the official GN'R website mentioning official release dates over and over again, and each time, the date passes by with no album.  It must be a testament to the band’s early work (okay, just Appetite for Destruction, really) that people even still have the patience to discuss this subject.

Second, I think people are probably deluding themselves if they think that this record will measure up to any standard besides mediocre.  Axl Rose is pretty much the only remaining member of the original lineup, and without the others, especially Izzy Stradlin and Slash, what does Axl really bring to the table?  If the leaked tracks from the album are any indicator, I would say not much.  Like other bands who have recently emerged to release new albums after a long hiatus, the songs sound like a pale imitation of what the band used to be, with several key elements conspicuously missing.  We saw it with the relatively recent release of a new Smashing Pumpkins record, on which Billy Corgan demonstrated a painful misunderstanding of what made that band formerly so great.   Siamese Dream was packed full of quiet songs played loud, their dreamy melodies nearly buried in heavy distortion.  Corgan seemed to forget every element of those tunes except for the loud part, as if “Zero” was the only song Smashing Pumpkins ever wrote, and the new album was a failure.  At this point, I don’t see how any new GN'R material could come out sounding like anything more than a pale shadow or sad parody of the original band’s fire.

Third, will anyone care?  I think that there will be a high level of curiosity at first, but, if my other expectations come true, then the album will ultimately end up as a forgettable career closer for a band that should have been allowed to die years ago.  Instead, it has been allowed to continue, with Rose as the gnashing skeletal remains of a once powerful band, too scared to just lay down and be buried with its legacy intact.  Instead, we’ll most likely get an embarrassing footnote to Rose’s career, a last grab at relevance that will likely end in the same way as the last three Star Wars releases: a pathetic effort that stains the legacy of a once legendary force in entertainment.

So basically, the semi finals for eScala start off with the hosts talking about the previous auditions. Stuff like that. Nothing too interesting. However, I do like this line:

“I quite fancy the one in the purple dress”

“They were all wearing purple”

“I know”

XD

And then we go into the fancy little intro getting a bit more information on eScala along with a pretty little title screen of them.

But before we get into this section, they do a little play through showing the highlights of the audition in black in white. Although I can’t help but think that it sounds better than it did during the actual audition.

However, I find this pic of them all happy and cheery when they found out that they were making it to the semi finals very amusing. The cellists Tasya (middle right) still looks mentally insane (and she made that weird cat noise) and the first violinsts Victoria (middle left) looks like a lunatic pig.

THEN, we move on to the interview section. Normally, this is the part where most competitors attempt to make some really annoying sob story to make everyone sad and get more sob votes, which I really fucking hate. That’s part of the reason why they couldn’t make it to the top three, and why I’m sure lots of actual talented people couldn’t win. Luckily though, we aren’t treated to this annoying cliché crap. All we get to see is how these 4 girls have been working ever since they were very young to get to where they were now.

In fact, the only thing closest thing to something sad here is how they were just a background gigs kind of group and after the auditions, they want the prize even more.

Then we move to the “suspenseful” part of the intro, where they basically just try to build up the hype. However, what I find the most amusing about this section is this shot:

During this section, they’re actually playing Bonds Allegretto in the background which is actually Bonds version of Palladio. What makes it funny is that eScala happens to be covering the same song, and they make it look like eScala was playing it in the black and white scenes. Ah, originality. But whatever.

So now, we finally get treated to the actual performance.

And this is why I love cello. I love how they were able to get a shot of this area, because it’s just really hot.

Then suddenly, my happy time is gone when I get to see Tasyas face. I know she’s trying to smile and enjoying herself and her playing, but she looks like she’s about to murder someone during this romantic scene. D: I’ll give her credit though. It takes skill to move your hand that freakin fast.

And I also really like this scene. Their positioning is perfect, and I like how theres a cello solo for once. Everything seems romantic.

However, things get even better when the violins get into action. I just love their bowing. ; ;

Then suddenly, the girls apparently go through their periods, and flames just pop out of nowhere.

Although I have to admit, I love how Izzy and Victoria really get into it with their movements.

Then suddenly, the girls either forgot to take their birth control pills, or they ran out of tampons/pads which explains the even more sudden mood change with fire flying out everywhere.

However, they only seem to be mad at their violins (they’re pretty much pounding away at them) since they’re smiling at the audience. Which really didn’t make much sense but whatever. I think the smiling wasn’t needed here. They really should have just looked REALLY intense. But at least they look hot. By the way, that shot of Izzy is my favorite.

Then, things get even BETTER when suddenly the violins just started pounding away at some insanely high notes while bass makes some pretty kickass destructive music.

Then, just when things couldn’t get even better, it does, as these girls decide to show off their amazing legs in a cool marching dance. If you guys look the HQ version during the beginning, you will see that Tasya has a strap system on her cello which allows her to do this.

Sadly though, the girls aren’t experiencing their monthly anymore, and we go back to the romantic phase of the song. However, I have no problem with this.

Mainly because the cello is freakin amazing here.

And so are the violinists bow strokes. I feel sorry for Chantal (viola) though, as she doesn’t seem to be noticed as much.

Also, here’s more proof of Tasya and her psychopathness.

In this scene, you see her smiling enjoy herself.

Then in a matter of seconds, she gets pissed off and looks like she wants to kill someone with her cello.

Soon, things are finally coming to an end.

When the cherry on the cake appears. This is personally one of my favorite scenes from this performance. I just love that “impact” that Victoria had during this moment.

Plus, I like how they stomped their feet on the ground and suddenly fire just came bursting out.

Then things come to an end with the crowd giving a standing ovation, along with the girls in perfect bow sync.

However, I’m too lazy to do the judges section. Plus, I really don’t care. I absolutely loved this performance as it was their best. I’ve watched this video countless times. An interesting fact though is that I have air cello’d and air violined to this performance while I watched it those countless times.

Just last night I was wondering what was going on with my favourite bluesy two piece around, The Fumes.

If you haven't heard these guys, hunt down Guns of Gold this weekend and sit in the sun with your girlfriend/boyfriend wearing your tightest black jeans and some short sleeve plaid shirt/singlet, drinking beers ever so slowly. It's what I'll be doing, only without the girlfriend/boyfriend.

Anyway, whilst flicking through a Drum Media at work, I saw that they're about to head into the studio to record their sophomore LP with Jim Fucking Diamond, and are playing one last show tomorrow (Saturday 11th) at Manly Fisho's. If you're in the area, go see them. You'll love it.

Last time I saw them was supporting Queens of the StoneAge at Luna Park in March and they blew me away (again). Can't wait for their new album.

More than a decade after its conception, Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" will finally see the light of day before year's end, sources close to the situation confirms to Billboard. As first reported here, the set will be a Best Buy exclusive and will be available Sunday, Nov. 23, rather than the usual Tuesday.

Beyond enticing pre-Thanksgiving shoppers, the move is tied to the structure of Best Buy's sales week, which runs from Sunday to Saturday. As such, "Chinese Democracy" would not be eligible to chart on The Billboard 200 until the week of Dec. 1, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

In the run-up to release date, album track "Shackler's Revenge" will debut in the video game "Rock Band 2," while a portion of "If the World" is playing over the end credits in the new Leonardo DiCaprio/Russell Crowe film "Body of Lies."

In addition, GNR's seminal 1987 debut, "Appetite for Destruction," will be reissued on vinyl on Oct. 28 via Interscope.

The band's last new studio albums were the simultaneously released "Use Your Illusion I" and "II" in September 1991. A covers set, "The Spaghetti Incident?," followed in 1993, and featured some of the last GNR recordings from original guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan.

Turns out that the long rumoured release date for Gn'R "Chinese Democracy" for Nov. 23rd is true!

Like I said once before, I'm not believe this if this is actually on the shelves Nov. 23rd. If Axl pushes the release date back again for the 100th time, I give up on Guns N' Roses.

On Nov. 23rd I will go to Best Buy to see if the album is on the shelves for myself. If it is, I'll definitely pick it up.

Lets hope 14 years is worth the wait.

Like the presidential election, I can't wait til this is all over.

Mas o bom rock, o contestador, tocado e representado por cabeludos bad boys que deixam os pais de adolescentes de cabelo em pé, este não ressurgiu das cinzas como deveria acontecer ao menos uma vez em cada década.

E eu fico preocupada quando vejo a molecada sem um meio tradicional de gastar a energia excessiva da idade. Falemos a verdade, nada como uma boa banda de rock para criar adultos mentalmente saudáveis....Ao menos, fiquei sabendo que Sandy e Júnior se separaram de vez e que a fantoche de barbie virou senhora casada. Tomara que deixe a carreira de lado. Será um enorme bem à humanidade!

Me perdoem os apreciadores do gênero, mas eu realmente tenho problemas com sertanejos e suas crias. (Não com caipiras, estou falando da safra estragada surgida de Chitãozinhos e Camargos).

Musicalmente Já fui bem mais chata e radical. Confesso que tive uma fase lamentável na volta de Porto Seguro..Mas continuo achando Ivete Sangalo uma ofensa aos meus ouvidos. E provavelmente com esta afirmação estou comprando briga com meio mundo...fazer o que...

Sinto falta de ver a molecada idolatrando uma mega banda. Algo gigante e meteórico, que os faça ir à porta do hotel, acampar na Frente do Anhembi, vestir orgulhosamente a camiseta, que marque época. E não vale falar de Rebeldes ou qualquer boys band. Bandas com coreografia serão rapidamente esquecidas, além de não merecerem atenção da adrenalina juvenil. Não. Tem que ser algo realmente contra os padrões e de certa forma espontâneo. 

Falo por experiência. Não há nada tão legal nestes anos de descoberta do mundo, quanto idolatrar uma banda e querer ser seu ídolo ou se apaixonar por ele perdidamente.

E eu fui loucamente, ensandecidamente fissurada por Axl Rose, o líder problemático do Guns N' Roses. A última grande banda de que tive notícia.

Tudo começou com o pop. De A-Ha, passei rapidamente por Bon Jovi e conheci a verdadeira paixão na transição dos anos 80 para 90, com o Guns. Ao ouvir pela primeira vez Appetite for Destruction, o disco de estréia da banda, eu estava definitivamente inserida no saudável mundo do rock and roll. Portas de hotéis, shows, galerias do rock, camisetas, bolachões e fitas cassetes eram parte do meu mundo. Na era pré internet não era muito fácil ter notícias, ver os clipes, encontrar outros fãs. Mas isto era parte do show e tornava esta árdua tarefa de ser fã ainda mais legal.

Axl era tudo o que os pais consideravam errado. Era a encarnação do rock. E era lindo, divino com seus olhos azuis expressivos e seus cabelos escorridos envolvidos por uma bandana . Serpenteva pelo palco assobiando Patiente e jogava o aparelho de telefone da janela do hotel quando pediam seu número. Parava shows no meio e batia em fotógrafos. Saía com as mais belas modelos, fumava cigarro barato e sorria com indiferença despertando as mais impublicáveis fantasias.

E a lógica disto tudo está no fato de que ele era a tranferência e descarrego de boa parte da carga destrutiva, indolente e problemática da molecada. Eu vivi aquela vida doida na trajetória do Guns enquanto era uma jovem até certa forma comportada e careta. Ouvi os discos até riscar, fiquei de plantão na frente da TV para o lançamento do Use you Ilusion. Fui uma das milhões de jovens que viveram um tórrido romance imaginário com o roqueiro do mau.

E não me interessa o fim que teve, se Axl está gordo e caretíssimo, o que importa é a formação original perfeita e incomparável com Axl, Izzy, Slash, Steve e Duffy e aqueles anos inesquecíveis onde o Hard Rock enlouqueceu meus vizinhos e me fez ser uma rebelde sem causa sem causar problemas.

Ainda curti muito Van Halen, Iron Maiden e um pouco de grunge. Mas nada se compara a avalanche que foi ser fã de carteirinha do Guns.

E me digam se Sweet Child O' Mine não é a melhor música de todos os tempos, com o riff de guitarra mais legal do mundo?

But from the message boards, Guns fans are already aware of all this news and are... well, ecstatic. They should be cautiously ecstatic. I don't believe it until I see the CD sitting in the shelves at Best Buy, and even then — if I buy the damn thing — I won't believe until I see an actual disc in the jewel case. And then sound coming out of my stereo.

Can't everyone just be happy with one of the greatest rock albums of all time — Appetite For Destruction — and then call it a day? You can't top that for GNR and why should you. THAT was the real Guns N' Roses. This Axl project should be called something else. Really.

In the meantime, if you want a taste of the new Axl GNR and don't want to buy Rock Band 2 to hear "Shackler's Revenge," the closing credits of the movie, Body of Lies, coming out this weekend, will feature the GNR song "If the World" (this, however, go figure, will not be on the soundtrack disc).

All I want is a Dr. Pepper, okay. Really. Get that shit out, Axl.

I like my Michael Keaton Batman, but this summer's Batman was pretty good, too. Wonder if dead Ledger will get an Oscar?

Prolly, because Hollywood does corny stuff like that. I'm not hating on Ledger, but I think that if he didn't kill himself, he'd probably not be in consideration. We'll see. Not that I much care for awards anymore anyway, because it's just the industry insiders strokin' one-another. Unless its the People's Choice Awards. Now that's respecting talent. Back in 1998, that included folks like Tony Danza, Tim Allen and that groundbreaking show Veronica's Closet.

BIG TRUCK

BIG TRUCK are a young West London-based rock band. They have been established for just over a year now, having played almost 50 shows in and around the London area. In this time BIG TRUCK have not only recorded their debut album ‘One Long Saturday Night’ but also played a sold-out show at Camden’s Purple Turtle to celebrate its first press. Since then BIG TRUCK have been well received on many independant radio stations in the UK including Total Rock, Inferno and Brit FM to name a few.
