I may direct the pack, but the pack continually pushes back. Sometimes this is in straightforward acts of resistance: the rare not coming when called and the far more common pretending not to come when called. Sometimes the pack attempts to carry out surreptitiously what it has been told not to do. Have you ever seen a dog dig or chew while pretending it is neither digging nor chewing? Sometimes the pack will direct its junior members to carry out the forbidden acts. There are also more benign pressures. Many of us have heard the story of the pet border collies at a house party who, over the course of the evening, subtly herded all the guests into a cluster in the living room, then sat contentedly to survey their work.

If my pack had its way, my day would consist in staying very still in a selection of locations in which they could pile on top of me: the bed, the couch, the other couch. I would only get up to feed them or open the door. While pack law dictates that this wish cannot be directly expressed (by standing on the couch and barking at me, for example), it can be conveyed in other ways: through disappointed silence as I work at the desktop or in the kitchen for example; through polite and theatrically selfless waiting outside the bathroom while I shower.

Fundamentally then I see the pack as a sophisticated system that is both part of and extrinsic to its members, containing them, serving their needs and developing, over time, into a composite world view. My presence in the pack means that in many ways I live like a dog, sensitive to their social ordering and particular needs. In exchange for maintaining the pack's solidarity, I get to be the object of their affection. This works well for both me and the señor, the pack's adjunct senior member.

I still want to write about my fast but am finding that most of my days are just consumed with regular stuff so I think I will put off posting about my fast until fall when things slow down for me a little.  I still post every Sunday at the PMS Club so if you are missing me feel free to stop over there.

A tough week of therapy, of both the physical and mental kind. Ever since the accident I have pain and doubts. Just how safe is the world? I still have nightmares. The feelings of being trapped, isolated and unable to get away from external tormentors.

The good news is that my knee is now not hurting as much and I can run again without aggravating anything. An hour in the gym and pool helps a lot with that.

There’s also a really cute new staff member at the gym! Yes! The great thing about work place seductions is that the lady in question is obliged to talk to you which always makes the openers that much easier to run with.

This charming man introduced himself to new girl and asked the slightly obvious questions about where she was from and how she’d got the job at the gym. Simple openers.

Such a sweet smile on her. Black hair all neatly tied back, very little makeup and a body that looks like she knows how to use the gym equipment.

She spurned the chance of having coffee with me but I’ll work her a little more next week.

To choose a place

An important factor to learn how to make money at home is to choose the type of work for you. If you choose something that you do not know, you might luck, but that is just as likely to hate what you're doing. On the other hand, if you choose work you have previously had experience in a way that you know what is at stake, you can make a choice based on information not think desires.

Prepare to earn money from home requires you to pay attention to a little common sense and do whatever the nature of the work to decide which is good for you. For example, to be precise in everything you do. You can not be a person other than the client for your search. If not correct spelling, grammar or punctuation, which reflects poorly May and that prevents it from doing additional work that the client or other people who read criticism of the client.

How can we win?

In most cases, their ability to earn money at home, is only limited by the amount of time you want to work. In fact, you can earn a good income without compromising their health due to overwork. Enough of the gaming comparision. The bottom line is, this place has developed big time. And I live there. My parents came down. Will be here for a month. On the gadget side, My linksys router's fabulous. Tata sky's cool. Oh ya, And the fridge is loaded with some goodies to last fa sometime. This time around i need to learn some cooking from my mum. So that me can cook cos yan can cook.

Around noon we jumped on the bus and made our way to the Bronx to set up for the BBQ! It was another good trip over, we are starting to feel like native New Yorkers... :) When we got there it was raining and there was a chance that we would have to cancel - so we spent some time in prayer asking the Lord to bless the day and give us a good turn out. While we were setting up the tables and food people were already starting to gather. Families, moms with kids, kids on bikes, old men, young men, black, white, hispanic... we saw so many types of people. Right at 5:00 we started serving hamburgers & hot dogs and by the end of the day we had served around 400 patties and dogs! We ran an assembly line that people walked down to get their food and everyone had a job to do. We had condiment squirters, pop ice top cutters, chip hander outers and beverage re-stockers. If you weren't doing one of those jobs you were putting cheese on buns, sorting garbage into recycling bins or serving the meat to people. And the best part was that the rain never came. :)

Several of us had a chance to have conversations with the locals which was a neat opportunity. I spoke with a woman who had moved to the states with her husband years ago from Cuba. They had a son who did not know the Lord and she was very burdened for him. I told her we would be praying - please pray for Rafael. 

We closed out the night tonight with some group time at a local Starbucks - we've grown so close together as a team - the inside jokes and nicknames abound. God has been so good to give us safety, health and good directions everywhere we go. It's hard to believe we only have a few days left. We are eager to see what the Lord puts in our path! My laptop has since died on me, refusing to switch on either with a battery or directly plugged to an adaptor. So being me, I have decided to do it my way.

Which is to ignore it for now. The thought of lugging my laptop down to the Acer Service Center on the extreme west of the island @ International Business Park is not my idea of an off day.

So here I am, making do with the desktop that belongs to my youngest brother.

Anyway, I've been pretty busy. My studies have wrapped up, and I'm awaiting my cert. My training at work has also wrapped up, and I'm in the permanent night shift for now, doing reservations support. Work has been extremely fun for me, much to the disgust of my colleagues who cannot comprehend why I like working so much. I somehow always manage to look on the other side of things. I figure, why not enjoy what you do while waiting for the next payday, eh?

The Mr and me are still as good as ever. And I thank God for that. He's been talking an awful lot about settling down and having kids. Hmmmm. I figure that if I can actually slot him in on my off day, then we'll get married. :)

Things on the home front are okay, both families are doing fine and with the addition of little Puteri, we're all having fun passing her around and tending to her.

I finally managed to watch Wanted yesterday. Angelina Jolie is so hot. I keep telling the Mr that she would be the only other person I'd dump him for. I loved the storyline, and the action, whoa. I'm so much into assassin flicks. If there was such a career option, I'd go for it. :(

Anyone need a part-time assassin? Maybe get rid of an ex-boyfriend or something? I'd be glad to try out and practice. :P I could do with the extra money. If all goes well, the Mr and me sure could use a break at the end of the year in Miami. God bless employee travel passes.

Today's another night shift, and tomorrow as well. Followed by three days off. I foresee days in bed (oh, and I also managed to slot in a minor room makeover, with me throwing the bed out, so now I'm sleeping zen style, and cupboards shifted all the way around) with books and lazy days in the kitchen.

Or I could just make the Mr cook instead. There are just some days I'd settle for food that's overdry, undercooked or even "Oh, I forgot the salt."

Life is okay, for now.

Emily turned 7 on Wednesday... complete w/ swimming and American Girl movie fun.

Last night we had friends over for sweets and slip&sliding and sparkler fun.

And since I forgot to mention it... jme bought me a label-maker - I am in organizational heaven.

Sailing smoothly through the doors at baggage claim, i had to wait a bit until they arrived.  Spotted them pulling up to the curb a few minutes later...

The whole entourage came to get me!  The Boy at the wheel, The Brown Dog slobbering in the backseat, and The Girl riding shotgun... Holding a cardboard sign out the window as they moved slowly along the curb...

"Mom?"

Except it was upside down...  i love my kids... they always know how to make me laugh my ass off!  Great trip, great to be home...

* Well, not counting my failed attempt to stock up on single malt scotch at Heathrow's Duty Free because i wouldn't be checking my bag homeward.  Have to exit security in Philly after customs... Bastards...

** They had come home to a very sparsely populated pantry.  Even worse than usual.  The Girl was in charge of dinner, The Boy responsible for dessert.  Hence, vegetarian tacos and jello pudding cups on the menu.  What The Girl called a "hobo meal" - the "shit you eat when you don't have money".  Over the meal, they decided they should open a taco and pudding restaurant - to be called "Taco del Pud".  Pronounced "poohed"...

I found a few things to write about for next week, but I am taking a vacation from blog posts of any substance until then.

I found this great new home tour on Apartment Therapy this afternoon, whilst lounging on the sofa with the laptop this afternoon.  clean and simple, minimal but luxurious and deliberate arrangements throughout...this is my kind of place.  and a Gold Coast Chicago address (like the kind I occupy in my bizarro make believe life).

Bali, also known as the 'Land of Gods' is probably tourist's dreamland in Indonesia. First trip with family but the second trip for me! Will be staying 2 nights at a villa in Jimbaran, and another 2 nights at Ritz-Carlton Bali. The 2 nights at the villa seems good, as the villa is newly opened and their website can be accessed here. Since it is a newly opened establishment (just recently in May), it should be great!

I really can't wait for this trip! After all it has been some time since the whole family went on a holiday together.

Number one. I'm painting the red door white to match the other houses on the block and I'm going to cover that icky #1 paint job on the mailbox with a pretty #1 sticker.

I'm going to put a dresser in my foyer for a place to drop my keys. Oh. And my landlord is painting the white to match the rest of the paint (a sort of taupey gray).

I'm painting the bathroom Dior Gray by Benjamin Moore. I'm hoping it'll look a little more luxe in the end.

The Kitchen! I'm planning on updating the hardware here.

This is the dining room. It looks smaller in this pic than it actually is. I'm putting a bookshelf and a tulip table in here. It might also work as my home office.

My living room! I love this room (so naturally I'm painting it). It's rectangular and is going to be perfect for entertaining!

These are the stairs that lead to my loft bedroom. This carpet grosses me out. I found out that it's hardwood (painted white) underneath it so I'm hoping to get the landlord to rip this up and just work with the home's natural bones.

This photo seriously doesn't do my bedroom justice. It's got slanted ceilings, a big closet and an even larger storage area (that's the door to it there). I'm also painting this room now - I found it looked a bit like a cave in this brown colour.
