I do admit that at first, I did not dig their sound on this sophomore album (with the first single "Makes You Wonder"). But after a while, I began to move my head and tap my fingers every time I hear that song... And surprised as I was, I found out that I am liking the songs... specially when "wont go home without you" came out!

Checked the CD in the mall a few times already. Price tag is still steep at P450. I can still wait a couple more weeks. :)

The second CD that I want to buy is the latest from Matchbox Twenty - Exile on Mainstream! The carrier single for this Greatest hits CD is "How far We've Come", which also has a very cool music video.

Being said that this is a greatest hits CD, I'm sure the ever loyal fans of Matchbox Twenty (like myself) will grab a copy of this for the addition of their collection. Price tag? P450.. same same same.. :)

Resistono in vetta i Maroon 5, mentre sale di una posizione il nuovo singolo di Fabri Fibra e restano ancora sul podio i Blow Up col brano che ha spopolato nelle feste di capodanno, "John Travolta". Menzione d'onore per il brano di Timbaland con i One Republic che raggiunge le 10 settimane di presenza.

Depois de Madonna com o álbum “Confessions on a Dance Floor” (9/10 - 2005), Justin Timberlake com o álbum “FutureSex/LoveSounds” (8/10 - 2006), Marron 5 com o álbum “It Won't Be Soon Before Long” (8/10 - 2007) e Rihanna em 2007 com o single “Umbrella” (9/10) e “Shut Up and Drive” (7/10) não podemos deixar de sentir que entramos recentemente numa era onde os novos sons, nomeadamente a electrónica e alternativa conexa com o rock, pop e R&B. Outros dois bons exemplos são Timbaland (com os recentes “The Way I Are” e “Apologize” - 9/10). Isto é que o público-alvo (jovens) ouve, e de tal modo, os artistas e as suas respectivas editoras tendem a obedecer a moda. Britney Spears e Enrique Iglesias, dois artistas musicais aparentemente desiguais em estilos e letra, não foram excepção em se igualarem um pouco.

Certo é que todos esperavam alguma mudança em Britney Spears (havia apostas, inclusive), pelo que com este “Blackout” – o nome até é irónico visto que não se podia adivinhar o resultado desta re-estreia –, mas com Enrique Iglesias (“Insomniac”) a mudança era desnecessária. Apesar disto tudo, o resultado dos dois álbuns, aquando o trabalhos posterior de ambos artistas, foi positivo.
Antes de irmos à minha opinião sobre os álbuns, vamos aos singles que os apresentaram. “Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)” foi uma excelente aposta - 10/10. A música é, numa opinião pessoal, muito viciante e refrescante para os nossos ouvidos – tenho até quase mil audições no iTunes! Foi bem aprovada pelos fãs de Enrique Iglesias e tornou-se num sucesso entre os adolescentes dos EUA, Espanha e Portugal. Já “Gimme More” – 7/10 – é uma canção que a repetição já não funciona, apesar de ser agradável ouvir. A sua promoção, especialmente nos EUA, foi dispensável – penso que todos vimos o vídeo de Chris Crocker ou actuação de Spears na MTV Vídeo Music Awards 2007. Todos repararam que esta Britney não era mesma da “Oops!... I Did It Again” (8/10), “Toxic” (8/10), “Stronger” (9/10) ou até mesmo “...Baby One More Time” (8/10). A música não tinha mensagem, aquele poder que nos tínhamos acostumado ouvir da chamada “princesa da pop”.
Quando o “Insomniac” saiu fiquei de imediato apaixonado por todas as músicas. Uma das que mais ansiava era a “Ring My Bells”, pois após ter visto o anúncio de Iglesias para um perfume em 2005 quis de imediato a música. No entanto, a de 2005 era muito mais mexida, pelo que a opção de a pôr calma não resultou bem…

Já a segunda música, “Push”, lembra muito Timbaland e os seus paralelos. Após a “Do You Know” temos a “Somebody’s Me”, que regressa às originais de Enrique Iglesias como “Hero”. É uma música diferente, mas muito boa, tal como “Little Girl”, que é semelhante. Na número 6 encontramos outro single muito bom, “Tired of Being Sorry”, como na número 8, “Wish I Was Your Lover”. Temos também três adaptações para o espanhol, incluindo os dois singles.
Já em “Blackout”, a primeira impressão vai para uma série de músicas que fazem mal aos ouvidos como “Heaven on Earth” e “Radar”. Em contrapartida, tem duas músicas muito mexidas e boas que eu adorei: “Get Naked (I Got a Plan)” e “Piece of Me”. A pergunta que todos fazem é: será este um bom regresso? Por mim, sim…
Numa comparação geral, quem ganha é o álbum de Enrique Iglesias, apesar de recomendar “Blackout” igualmente, da Britney Spears. Em baixo, sigam as melhores e piores músicas dos álbuns na minha opinião:
