First, there was Moonlight. *sniff*

Now, I started getting into Men in Trees, because my sister watches it with almost religious fervour. And I like this show. It's sweet and funny. It won't be my favourite show of all times, but it's really nice.

So, I watched the first two seasons and went to imdb to see, when the third one would be out. And guess what? Yeah. No third season for me. Or anybody else.

At least, they had some kind of closure for my favourite characters - Jane (Seana Kofoed) and Sam (Ty Olsson). But other characters were not that lucky... *sigh*

(Oh, btw... Wasn't Anne Heche gay a couple of years ago? Obviously, she isn't anymore, as she's dating her co-star James Tupper. [And boy, he's HAWT.] And she's just getting divorced.)

Anyway... it's not like there's no shows to watch anymore... Pushing Daisies and Heroes will start soon again and Eureka already did, so that's good.

And you know what? You should keep an eye on Bryan Fuller, as I will in the future. He's responsible for Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls (which I haven't seen yet), and he wrote two episodes of Heroes and a lot of Star Trek stuff. Very good credentials.

Así, el 2 de septiembre el canal estrenará la quinta temporada de Caso abierto serie creada por Meredith Stiehm.

El día 4 le tocará el turno a los nuevos episodios de la segunda temporada de Shark que quedaban pendientes tras la huelga de guionistas, el 8 de septiembre podremos ver el estreno en la programación de FOX de la décimoquinta temporada de Los Simpson.

Finalmente, también en septiembre el canal estrenará la segunda temporada de la serie Men in Trees.

É de lá que é feita a maioria das fotos turisticas que vemos nos cartões postais, aquelas que mostram a cidade vista do alto.
Tinhamos ido lá dois dias antes da Lapin - Fille chegar, para aproveitar o tempo bom.
Descobrimos que tem uma atração que não consta nos folhetos de publicidade turistica: um guaxinim!!
O danadinho fica esperando o povo jogar comida para ele bem abaixo do Belvedere (mirante) e o danado está gorducho que só.
Todo mundo sabe que não se deve alimentar animais assim, mas para que o guaxinim fique perto e se possa fazer boas fotos, muita gente dá. E o local acaba ficando emporcalhadinho...  :(
Também visto familias numerosas de esquilos, inclusive uma tinha um bebê-esquilo, ligeirinho que só ele!

Depois que Lapin-Fille chegou, fizemos uma segunda visita, desta vez conseguimos fazer foto com céu claro e também a noite. Embora tivesse mutas nuvens no céu, ainda assim a vista estava linda.
Ela amou o guaxinim, que batizou de Rocky (sabe como é, Beatles e Men in Trees)*.
Ah: quando estavamos no metro Mont Royal esperando o buso que sobe o morro (#11), tinha uma trupe francesa de instrumentos de sopro muito animada dando show na saida do metro.
Agora vcs. não imaginam o nome deles... Lapin Super Star!!!!!

ah: o onibus deixa a gente ebm pertinho do Belvedere, aqueles que como eu não sou lá muuuuuito esportivos, podem ir tranquilos!

Mañana Domingo 27 de Julio por Warner Channel no te pierdas el último episodio de la serie MEN IN TREES. La serie fue cancelada este año debido a los bajos ratings en los Estados Unidos. Afortunadamente, la serie no terminó dejando a los fans colgados.

Den nächsten Fehler hat man nun am Mittwoch gemacht. Einst war dieser Tag der erfolgreichste der kompletten Woche - als "CSI" noch zusammen mit "Criminal Intent" im Doppelpack zu sehen war. Eigentlich wurde der Mittwochabend fest als Krimi-Abend etabliert, wenngleich die Quoten nach dem Wechsel von "CSI" zu RTL deutlich rückläufig waren.

Was gibt es Schöneres als einen fest in den Köpfen der Zuschauer etablierter Programmablauf? Zu schätzen weiß man das in Köln aber ganz offensichtlich nicht, denn wie wäre es sonst zu erklären, dass man inzwischen zwischen 21:10 Uhr und 23:00 Uhr die bereits am Freitagabend gefloppte Serie "Men in Trees" ausstrahlt. Aus Sicht der Fans dieser Serie zwar sicherlich ein Grund zum Jubeln, doch aus programmplanerischer Sicht ein kompletter Irrsinn.

Nun hat man den Salat, der eigentlich zu erwarten war: Fast niemand interessiert sich für "Men in Trees". Und schlimmer noch: Die Zuschauer wandern zur Krimi-Konkurrenz bei ProSieben. Unglaublich...

Yesterday a man fell out of a tree. He landed on the road, in front of my moving jeep! We were both lucky I was able to slam on my brakes and not run over him.

He fell in a prone position, landing on his back. I believe the backpack he was wearing may have saved his skull from slamming into the pavement along with the rest of him. To my amazement he rolled onto his side, bounced up into a run, and disappeared between two houses. 

He had the look of a street person.  Both he and his backpack were dirty and tattered looking.  Which makes me wonder...

Has he built a nest up there?

Are there more ‘Men in Tree’s’ on Cook Street?

Is his name is Leif?

Or was he simply on the run and hiding up there?

This tree is across the street from my home. Looking up into the tree the leaves are so dense that it's hard to see thru them. Anything could be hidden or lurking up there. I'll continue to watch that tree, along with others on my street, in hope of establishing an answer to what he was doing up there, in the first place.

It's interesting that in a shortened season, due to the writer's strike, that networks would cite poor ratings as the reason they were pulled. No one had any idea when these shows were airing, when they were new and there was little to no time to invest into characters.

I really don't care about most of the shows, but I am sad to see Men in Trees go. It was a cute, quirky show that filled the void that Gilmore Girls left. But it changed time slots six times and went on two VERY long hiatuses. While I think Anne Heche is a loon, this show just worked for me. I mean how can you not like a show that features a recovering prostitute, a hot man that lives in the woods, and a self-help guru who moves to Alaska from NY. It has the makings of a cult-classic. ABC never gave it a chance.

I tell ya in the world of scripted tv nothing makes sense. Why in the world is the Ghost Whisperer still on CBS (4 years)? Why is David Caruso, a no talent hack, still employed? Do we need 18 CSI's?

One more reason to love non-scripted tv. Go Bravo, TLC, and HGTV.

Following last year's night time market success, the city of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa decided to expand the summer attraction by opening the market earlier (May 15) and adding street happenings to the market action. Not far from the northern beach of Jaffa, were you can feel the evening's cool breeze, the flea market of Jaffa will host this summer's nights of street art and culture. Every Thursday from 8pm till midnight, the flea market will be open for business while musicians, street theater artists, circus artists and street exhibitions will fill the streets and entertain the shoppers and visitors.

Pishpeshuk promises a full evening of urban delight: examining retro items and haggling for the one piece you must have, street theater, live music, changing exhibitions, yoga classes, holistic space and comfortable sitting areas scattered around the market.

In the music department you can expect to catch some ethnical bands, Arab music, Funky-Jazz, Balkan music and anything else that goes well with a flea market and a Mediterranean summer night. Exhibitions will include 60/60 - Sixty years and sixty Independent Posters (May and June), by students of Ariel College and Moments of Home: Sixty years of "small" moments in the homes of great leaders (June-July), by photographers David Rubinger and Ziv Koren.

Pishpeshuk is not an event... it's an ongoing summer-night-out option and you should keep it in mind while strolling along Tel Aviv promenade after watching a dreamy sunset.  Pishpeshuk will be there to spice up your romantic street roaming. It will culture it up a little and add a fun-ky soundtrack to your market exploring adventure.

Hillary...COMEON!  WHA???  Ugh, I will admit I am constantly disappointed by politics, but this just takes the cake.  I don't even know if I can make myself vote this year.  Between Schmuck 1 and Schmuck 2, it doesn't look I have a whole lotta options.  I'm just going to end up writing you in.  And don't even THINK about taking the VP position.  Seriously?  I can imagine nothing worse than having to be Obama's lap dog.  Don't even.  I am this close to smacking you upside the head for not running a smarter campaign.  I saw this coming, but I was holding out hope.  And now that hope?  Crushed...apparently by "change I can believe in."  *Snort*

In other news, the boy and I have decided to stay in the Duluth area.  Huge heapin' spastic HEAVES of relief, people.  Seriously.  Ya'll don't even know.  Now we just have to find an apartment and a bed on which to set our new King-Sized Schneidermann's Sealey mattress.  As well as figure out all the other minor, minor, oh-so-freakishly minor details.  *Ahem*

And in entertainment news...who here LOVES the show "Men in Trees"?  Anyone?  ANYONE?!  JUST ME?!  OH MY GOSH...BEST FREAKIN' SHOW EVER!!!!  I heart Anne Heche ...crazy, quirky, Celeste-from-another-planet-who-randomly-wanders-into-other-peoples'-homes-and-pretends-she's-a-lesbian-Ellen-Degeners-lover-from-outer-space-Anne Heche.  But I looooove the rest of the cast too.  It's like "Northern Exposure" meets "Ally McBeal".  It is freakin' WUNNERFUL.

Quest’oggi, a partire dalle 19, inizia su Canale5 una nuova serie tv dal titolo Men in trees. Il telefilm è già andato in onda recentemente sul digitale terrestre di Mediaset Premium, ma per quanto riguarda la messa in onda in chiaro si tratta di una prima visione. Una scelta azzeccata da parte di Mediaset quella di collocare Men in trees nel preserale di Canale5, perché si tratta di una serie adattissima al target della rete ammiraglia, a metà strada tra un telefilm vero e proprio e le soap-opera di stampo tedesco che in questi ultimi anni stanno andando molto di moda. La classica storia d’amore che non decolla come fulcro, sullo sfondo di un piccolo paesino dell’Alaska, Elmo.

Protagonista del telefilm è la brava Anne Heche, già vista in Everwood, Ally McBeal e in qualche episodio di Nip/Tuck, oltre che al cinema in Psycho, Sei giorni sette notti e John Q. Anne interpreta il ruolo di Marin Frist, una scrittrice esperta di sentimenti e relazioni di coppia le cui conferenze hanno un incredibile seguito. Convinta di avere una vita meravigliosa e di essere amata e rispettata dal futuro marito, scopre per puro caso che in realtà il fidanzato ha una relazione extraconiugale con una giornalista. Tutto accade velocemente, mentre lei si trova in un paesino sperduto dell’Alaska per una conferenza. Delusa e depressa, mette in discussione il proprio lavoro - visto che ha fallito proprio in quello che in teoria le riusciva meglio - e decide di prendersi una vacanza.

In Alaska, in quel paese con poco più di 200 abitanti dove non è facile nemmeno trovare un pacchetto di sigarette, non è certo facile staccare dal passato, soprattutto quando si proviene da una città come New York, caotica ma con tutto a portata di mano. Eppure le persone, in netta prevalenza di sesso maschile, sono cordiali. E nell’unico bar-ristorante del villaggio, luogo di ritrovo per tutti gli abitanti, stabilire dei contatti umani è molto facile. Sia con i simpatici “anziani” che con i giovani, tra i quali c’è quel tenebroso Jack Slattery (James Tupper) che non lascia certo Marin indifferente.

Il telefilm non brilla per originalità della trama. La maggior parte delle vicende sono scontate e la love story che non parte tra Marin e Jack non è poi così “emozionante”. Men in trees non è però da buttare, innanzitutto perché non ha la pretesa di lasciare lo spettatore col fiato sospeso e poi perché certi paesaggi dell’Alaska, dove è realmente girato il telefilm, sono da mozzare il fiato. Alcuni degli attori protagonisti poi sono particolarmente bravi, anche se purtroppo il doppiaggio con voci che non c’entrano nulla con l’originale, ne ammazza la recitazione, trasformando anche il più profondo dei dialoghi in una banale chiacchierata tra macchiette.

Men in trees è andato in onda sul network ABC per due stagioni. Recentemente è stato reso noto che la terza non si farà a causa di ascolti non proprio esaltanti. Oltre ad Anne Heche e James Tupper, nella serie troviamo Abraham Benrubi, il ricco proprietario del bar, Derek Richardson, proprietario della locanda dove Marin alloggia nonché suo grande fan, Emily Bergl, una fan che segue Marin fino in Alaska, John Amos nei panni dell’unico pilota del paese e Seana Kofoed, l’editrice di Marin.

It's really weird.  I've been waking up so groggy, probably not getting enough sleep.  Another thing I need to work on.

I had a very productive day at work and managed to get ahead with a project I have been working on for awhile.  I haven't been sure about how I wanted to post reviews onto our website,  I think it's still a work in progress.  But, at least the reviews are up for now.  I want to make this as useful and user friendly as possible. 

I had a nice cup of organic Matcha powder green tea.  And then a fresh, organic romaine salad I tossed with raddishes, sweet yellow and orange peppers, yellow tomatos and red onion.  I had cherries for dessert.  It felt good to eat so healthy.  While I love my typical gluten-free canned soup lunch, eating fresh fruits and vegetables is, of course, the better choice.

After work, I needed to get gas.  I felt like I just headed to the gas station.  That's because I refuse to pay more than $25 at the pump, which, as we all painfully know, isn't going to get me that far.  I keep hoping the price will go down so that the next time I put $25 in, well, it'll be more fuel!  I keep getting my thunder stolen, the prices keep rising.

I stopped by my place to feed the cats and refreshed my make-up, then headed toward downtown.  I hit an enormous amount of crazy traffic.  I thought to myself - what is this?  Seattle?  That makes me cringe to think about more people moving here.  I saw a handful of California plates and worried about more Californians going through the worst housing and gas crisis, forcing an exodus to the cheaper neighboring state.  Where's the border control?? 

I have been trying to get my parents to return to Oregon ever since I moved out here in 2004.  My dad is from Eugene and I think it's long overdue for him to come back home.  My parents really liked Ashland.  Perhaps they can buy a house down there and then my dad can work for the state to do routine border control.  I could just see it.  My dad in a uniform (he's a retired LTC, this is not a stretch) sitting in a tower with his beloved Italian Beretta shot gun in his grasp.  Keeping watch for illegal CAL-aliens.  I'm kidding, of course.  Kind of.  Of course I am!!!

I treasure the open spaces here.  I treasure the small town feel of this city.  I loathe the idea of these things getting spoiled by urban sprawl.  When will these people learn that it rains a lot, it's gray all of the time and makes Willamettites, especially Portlanders, pissy???  Not so green and perfect now, huh?

I got a little lost this evening.  I printed directions to Grand Central Bowling and found myself up near NE 33rd, when I needed to be down by 7th and Morrison.  It's a long story how I got pulled in the wrong direction, and because traffic was so horrible, I couldn't maneuver myself off the dreaded path I was on.  I finally made my way to Sandy Blvd. and arrived at Grand Central at around 6 p.m.  I missed the puck off and the first period.  This was beyond sub-optimal.

The Redwings didn't fare much better.  The Penguins beat them in game three of the Stanley Cup finals in Pittsburgh.  So, Redwings are up 2 games to 1.  They need to win on Saturday.

Grand Central is a generous and trendy space, it's not your typical sports pub or bowling alley.  There's a swank decor with clean wooden floors and lots of open space.  There are several large flat screens on each side of the bar.  Upstairs, where we sat, the large bar also has large flat screens on each side.  There are comfy lounge areas with leather sofas and a fireplace, as well as billiards tables.  It's definitely a place worth returning to for a change of pace.  I'd love to hit the bowling lanes.

I got home just after 8:00 p.m.  I didn't get a workout in and did 200 crunches to make myself feel better.  But, even before I started my first set, I wasn't feeling great.  My stomach hurt.  When I finished the two sets, I made a cup of Yogi ginger tea, a natural soother for upset stomach. 

I checked emails and was thrilled to hear from a potential writer's group.  This is the group that I learned about from the director of the Writer's Dojo.  I think this is the final destination on the road of book edits before I get the book published.  I felt really good about this.  I have been starving for this kind of community.

I had the television on and caught the second half of Men In Trees.  Sadly, I heared this program has been cancelled.  I am disappointed.  It had bounced around from different evenings and time slots, which, in addition to this winter's writer's strike, only made it difficult to keep a solid fan base.  Such is life.  Sometimes our favorite fixes must come to an end.
