Me ha sorprendido enormemente, porque pensaba que un evento así estaba destinado a modelos profesionales, pero parece que el influjo de su apellido y ser hermana de una cotizada estrella, te abre muchas puertas. Y las está sabiendo aprovechar. Aunque lo cierto es que era benéfico, por buenas causas, junto a otras figuras destacadas como Naomi Campbell. No consigue cuajar como actriz, ni como cantante, así que parece que la moda le está brindando más y mejores oportunidades.

Me parece que, a pesar de su belleza, que no me resulta excesiva, no termino de verla como modelo y menos en pasarela. Pero, claro, es un imán mediático y logra despertar cierto interés. En fin, no todo va a ser acompañar a su hermana en eventos, también hay que destacar en solitario.

The event is the third annual Fashion for Relief show organised by Miss Campbell and the second to be held in London.

This year she joined forces with Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown who is patron of the White Ribbon Alliance, a charity devoted to saving the lives of pregnant women and newborn babies in the Third World.

Last year the model raised £1million for victims of the floods in Gloucestershire.

Mónica Cruz, Patricia Conde, Blanca Romero, Ariadne Artiles, Leonor Watling, Laura Sánchez, Bimba Bosé, Natalia Verbeke, Eugenia Silva y Elsa Pataky aparecen desnudas por una buena causa: denunciar el abuso de un recurso tan imprescindible como el agua.

“Más de 200 horas de trabajo y un gran equipo humano formado por más de 30 personas hicieron posible esta superproducción. Se construyerion artesanalmente todos los escenarios de cada una de las fotos, desde un acuario gigante a un desierto o una lavadora industrial enorme, y se emplearon más de 8.000 litros de agua , que se reciclaron por el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona.”

Estas campañas si que le llegan a uno al corazón… o a alguna otra parte.

En dicho número, 10 actrices españolas, al estilo PETA, se desnudaron con el objetivo de crear un diseño socialmente responsable y alertar sobre la mortal gravedad del ambiente: la falta de agua.

El vídeo de la cabecera, mostrado en el mismo evento, es el making off de las fotos de la revista donde las 10 chicas macizotas pasan por el agua todas desnuditas, explicando cada una de ellas los problemas actuales con el agua. Bien es cierto, que con esas fotos tan sugerentes, se llega hasta a olvidar el sentido de las mismas.

Blanca Romero, Patricia Conde, Elsa Pataky, Leonor Watling, Laura Sánchez, Mónica Cruz, Natalia Verbeke, Ariadne Artiles, Eugenia Silva y Bimba Bosé, posan para Elle en este ejemplar, en unas fotos llenas de fuerza y expresividad.

Como si de una sirena se tratase, Elsa Pataky se convierte en la portada del especial del mes de julio de la revista Elle, un ejemplar Eco-Blue. De nuevo podremos ver los encantos de esta exuberante mujer y sin que la revista Interviú haya roto la exclusiva como ya hiciera con el reportaje que la propia Elle le hizo a la actriz para el número de mayo de 2007.

Sin embargo, Elsa no será a la única que veamos en la revista en paños menores porque son 10 las mujeres que se desnudarán por “amor al agua”.

La sesión de fotos contará con Mónica Cruz, Patricia Conde, Blanca Romero, Ariadne Artiles, Leonor Watling, Laura Sánchez, Bimba Bosé, Natalia Verbeke y Eugenia Silva. Además el conjunto de fotografías serán expuestas en la Expo de Zaragoza 2008 y todos los beneficios obtenidos se destinarán a la ONG internacional Oceana, para luchar para recuperar los fondos marinos y salvaguardar los océanos.

Esto no nos lo podemos perder porque con todo este calibre de guapas juntas no me extrañaría nada que las aguas hubiesen alcanzado el punto de ebullición.

Aprovecho este espacio que me brinda vuestra página favorita para hablaros de mi hermana Mónica, a la que yo llamo cariñosamente MO porque ella de pequeña no sabía pronunciar su nombre completo, así que le dejamos lo de MO que era lo único que sabía decir, jiji.

Cuando yo ya era una actriz consagrada, a Mónica se le ocurrió que también quería ser actriz, así que como le gustaba bailar, yo le dije a un productor que me debía un favorcillo: “Cari, a ver si me colocas a la Mo en alguna serie”, y así se convirtió en la protagonista absoluta de la famosa serie “Un paso adelante” (en inglés “UPA Dance”). Para ello la disfrazaron de “teenager”, y la pobre sólo tenía que limitarse a poner morritos y a marcarse unos bailes dentro de un plano general, con lo cual la mayoría de los telespectadores no tuvistéis la oportunidad de admirar su verdadero talento.

Esta era la Mo de aquella época, se nota que todavía no había sido “pulida” por mí, jeje:

 ”Soy choni!”

Pese al fracaso de ese primer intento, no me rendí y tuve una idea genial: recordé nuestros tiempos de cuando éramos crías y jugábamos con el “Creo mi moda” y le dije: “Mo, reina, cógete unos plastidecores y una libreta que vamos a diseñar para Mango“. Y dicho y hecho, como todo lo que me propongo:

Y claro, luego aprovechamos y nos fuimos de gira para presentar la colección las dos juntitas, porque es que nos llevamos superbien y nos hacemos peinados chachis y la manicura la una a la otra:

Y a partir de ahí Mo empezó a acompañarme en todos los eventos a los que me invitaban. Y yo encantada con mi hermana para aquí y para allá, que me hace mogollón de compañía. Otras tienen chiuauas y yo tengo a mi Mo:

Y al final Mo consiguió lo que pretendía, ser actriz de cine ¡¡ni más ni menos que ha interpretado a la madre de Cristo en una superproducción!!:

Así que ahora no hace falta que yo la acompañe, ya que la invitan a todas las fiestas y estrenos, ¡¡incluso a la Gala de los Goya!! Cuaquier día gana uno, os lo digo yo que de eso sé muchísimo. Ahora sólo le falta que la llame…PEDROOOOOOOOO!!!

Y bueno, que como ya os he colado he colocado a mi hermana Mo, pasaré a presentaros a otro miembro del clan Cruz…

The venture was well in the line of what seemed to be another major 2007 trend: sisterhood fashion.

Apparently creativity is enhanced by working with your sister - especially if she is not too famous, but at least has a rough idea of what designing clothes is all about. I don't know much about Monica Cruz's credentials, but they seem to be there, at least to a certain degree.

And another one with apparently quite strong credentials (think Central St. Martins, Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson) is Savannah Miller. Yes, that Miller. As in: Sienna's sister. Guess what the designer and the starlette did last year? That's right: they launched their own fashion brand, Twenty8twelve.

To be fair to them, their line has got some good potential. And, although patroned by Pepe Jeans owner Carlos Ortega (Sienna is also the face for Pepe Jeans' campaigns), at least it wasn't linked to some high-street retail giant or another.

I am actually a fan of a few pieces from the S/S 08 collection:

Unfortunately, I cannot say quite the same about Elizabeth and James, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's 2007 fashion effort. Having been famous as sisters for all their lives, it only seemed natural for them to launch their own clothes line last year, I guess. Definitely nobody can argue about their credentials as famous siblings! But we were never quite convinced about their credibility as designers...

Thankfully, we have no record (yet...) of similar attempts by the likes of Kylie and Danii Minogue, Jessica & Ashlee Simpson or, god forbid, Paris & Nicky Hilton...

“I don’t think it was a wise move for Penelope, as she has always been considered a very classy actress and it wasn’t like she was doing this for a groundbreaking film,[...] But then again, nothing in Hollywood is surprising. People have done worse things and become much more famous as a result.”

As for Monica Cruz’s endorsement deal with Spanish designer Mango, an insider told press that the video may help boost her appeal with consumers.  “I don’t think the raunchy video will affect the high-end feel of the MNG fashion line.  If anything, it will put Monica even more on the map and people will be interested to see her work.”
