I'm talking the original here, not the Ryan Reynolds remake, though that one was cool too. There's just something about older horror movies that kicks ass. While most films now rely on over the top gore or cgi, etc, back in the day it was all about creating atmosphere and developing a true sense of fear in the viewer and I really love that. Amityville is 'based on a true story', and while there are arguments about the legitimacy of those claims, the fact of the matter is just having those words associated with a film like this makes it creepier. The basic plot is as follows: There's this family that moves into this house where a big ol mass murder had taken place the year before or whatever..a dude went bonkers and killed his whole family yada yada yada. Buuut this house was their dream house so they weren't gonna have that stop them from moving in. So they do and as time goes by, more and more weird paranormal shit starts goin down in the house and the hubby starts to slowly change into a nutjob like the guy who lived there previously. Things get so crazy that they leave the house just 28 days after they first moved in. blahbalbhalbh. But anyway, this film is the bomb.com, and really, it's direct sequel wasn't too shabby either.

I was recently poking around some sites and I felt that Ryan Reynolds needed to be featured just because he is so undeniably beautiful. Unfortunately ladies, he is married to Scarlett JoHoebag (I'm not impressed by her). But good for him for being happy, while Alanis is not, isn't it ironic?

[caption id="attachment_708" align="aligncenter" width="450" caption="Reynolds. Bearded and Sincere." width="450" height="417" />[/caption]

I know a lot of you come to this website intrigued by its title, lovingly cribbed from Ira Glass and This American Life. You browse through the posts, check out the "about" page and leave more confused than when you entered. "What does this have to do with This American Life? What is this site for?"

First, this site has nothing to do with This American Life other than we all went to school in Chicago and mental-bated to the radio show's uncanny way with words. Second, this site is about too much to coherently articulate. We can tell you one thing this site is specifically against, however: mean-spiritedness. The web is full of gossip rags and partisan vitriol celebrating the petty over the profound. Our tiny contribution to the infinite world of CSS, blogs and Facebook is a sense of honest, reasoned discussion. We'll be the first to admit we know nothing, and we'll never pretend like we do.

That being said, we take this moment to just bro the fuck down. Today's object of affection? Van Wilder, himself, Ryan Reynolds.

We all know Ryan Reynolds from TV, movies and the gossip game. He's dating Alanis Morrisette, no wait he's dating Scarlett Johansson, no wait he's engaged to Scarlett Johansson. You might care, you might not. What's ironically rare, though, in this "celebreal" culture of ours is an actual insight into who these people over whom we obsess really are. Pictures can be misleading and even interviews are distorted through the press junket filter of media corporations and magazines. The only way to know these people is through their words and that seems more difficult than it should be from a group of people who make their living in the public speaking on a screen.

Fortunately for us, all of us, Ryan Reynolds has given us a peak behind that facade US Weekly and TMZ would have us believe is the end-all-be-all of a celebrity's substance. Today Reynolds had a featured article on the Huffington Post discussing his decision to participate in this year's New York City Marathon. Like you probably do now, we thought this would be another self-aggrandizing piece from an over-privileged actor who thinks his opinion on the mundane matters. But the thing is it's Ryan Reynolds. Since we saw him lurking in the shadows on New York's Lower East Side almost exactly a year ago this month in full beard, dapper over coat and cap, Reynolds has held a special place in our hearts. One out of three of us thought he may suck, but all of us could tell we only knew half the story.

We think the piece is well written, simultaneously funny and heart-felt - a straighter, more sincere David Sedaris. But what we think doesn't matter. The power of his prose is the realization that you, me, we are ass holes. His story of his father and his choice to do the most selfless thing imaginable, endure months of torture on a daily basis, opens up that magical division between expectation and reality that Robert McKee locates as the transcendent power of story. There's probably nothing more trite than gushing over the discovered humanity of an actor, but after a day spent reading about political attacks and catty, snarky comments it's enlightening, albeit pathetically, to read something that keeps you mentally in check.

You see, New York corrodes you. It's culture is gossip, envy, irony and anger. That's why the tabloids are based here; that's why shows about high-fashion high schoolers who hate each other are based here. Disgust is currency in the small hives of media mavens in Manhattan and for better or for worse their minority myopia shapes not only the national debate on culture but also your own frame of reference.

That's why the biggest Modern Jackasses of all are in this city and its burroughs, passing judgment on things they know nothing about simply because to have an opinion is to have a thought and to think is therefore to be. I'm the same way. "Ryan Reynolds? SUCKS." Maybe as an actor, but most likely not as a person. I suppose it's more telling of us than of those around us that we react this way to a sincerely written piece by a sincerely bearded dude but we surmise if it could happen to us, it could happen to you too. Maybe you're tired of hating everything because you're told to, also.

The ultimate irony, of course, could be that Ryan Reynold's article on why he's running the New York City marathon was written by a publicicst's intern, who on lunch breaks checks Gawker, Perez Hilton and Defamer. We'll choose to believe otherwise. Call that our totally inverted, narcicistic and superficial audacity of hope.

How much do you hate Scarlett Johansson for nailing one of the hottest guys in Celeb-ville.

Not only is Ryan Reynolds totally F.I.T. he's also got a good heart. The Definitely Maybe (I dare you not to cry at the end) actor is running the New York City Marathon in honor of his father, who has Parkinson's disease.

Ryan says on his Huffington Post column "I've watched my father -- a strong and proud person who successfully raised 4 arguably insane children - slowly, cruelly stripped of his independence.

"Witnessing my Dad suffer over the years galvanized my need to step up. On November 2nd, I'll join thousands of other men and women to march in lockstep solidarity toward searing psychic pain and physical humiliation."

He also speaks about Michael J. Fox, saying:

"Like so many before me, I found it impossible not to be touched by his story of overwhelming strength, passion and relentless commitment to help those afflicted with this insidious disease. The man is inspiration exemplified. Plus, he was in Back To The Future."

Seriously.

Good luck Ryan!! I'm sure ScarJo will be at the finish line cheering you on.

"He graded out at 100 percent," Venables told Oklahoma beat writers during his weekly teleconference. "I don't know that I've ever had that before. I tried to be very nit-picky and he graded out at 100 percent."

Reynolds produced a season-high 14 tackles, including two for losses. He leads the Sooners with 41 tackles after five games.

Venables had a detailed explanation in what went into Reynolds' perfect score.

"It's lining up correctly. No mental errors. No loafs," Venables said. "Playing with great technique every snap. If you're supposed to (get) the curl (route), you cover the curl. If you're supposed to (get) the hook (route), cover the hook. If you're supposed to take your guy man-to-man, you take him. If you're supposed to make certain checks in certain situations, then you do it. And you can't miss tackles when given the opportunity."

So here are my winners and losers from the past week (or so). Hopefully I can make this a semi-regular thing.

WINNERS (this is good)

Ryan Reynolds. Dude, I have to hand it to you. You somehow managed to bag a 23-year old (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) megastar as your lawfully-wedded wife. She is more famous than you, has more money than you, is a big proponent for polygamy, and just did a threesome scene with Penelope Cruz. She even beat Marisa Miller, I said MARISA MILLER, in the Elite 8 of the Bigger Dance. I don't even care that she is a shitty singer or that she likes SpongeBob. Hey man, you remember when she was in the music video for Mandy Moore's first single, Candy? No? I don't either, but who gives a fuck, she has DSLs. Now let's take a look at a brief filmography for the both of you:

Scarlett: The Horse Whisperer, Lost in Translation, Match Point

Ryan: The Amityville Horror, Just Friends, Blade: Trinity

Wow man, you are looking good there. She has done movies that garnered critical acclaim; you did one which had a character named Dusty Dinkleman. But seriously, if you would have gone through with marrying Alanis Morisette I would have condemned you to a life of solitude in the Himalayas with only eucalyptus nectar to sustain yourself on. I can do that.

David Duchovny. Hey man, I heard you completed sex rehab. Congrats. What do they do in there to mute your libido and desensitize you from coitus? Show you repeated images of things that are not arousing? I can only imagine how unaesthetic that must be. Sort of like looking at an issue of something that is the reverse of Maxim. Maybe Redbook. Hey that would be a cool new position, the Reverse Maxim. I don't know what it would be, but I'm sure it would look kind of like a helicopt....oops, sorry. Forgot I wasn't supposed to talk about those kind of things with you. I find it funny that when you have a lot of sex it's called an "addiction." When I do it's called "fucking awesome."

Anyone who went to the Sigur Ros show at Benaroya Hall. Unreal.

Anyone who went short prior to 9/19 or has option straddle positions. You are smart.... and everyone else is crying. A lot.

People who eat $5 footlongs. There is a new sandwich!!!!!! The Chicken Pizziola!!!!!!!!

Bars who held my credit card this weekend. You win. You always do.

LOSERS (this is bad)

Washington Huskies football and Seattle Seahawks football. This is getting ridiculous. The Huskies can't do things they teach you in Pop Warner, and the Seahawks can't do things they teach you in high school. I can't tell if the Huskies are trying to emulate the Seahawks, or if the Seahawks are trying to emulate the Huskies. Thank god for being able to drink in parking lots because there is nothing else redeeming about these "contests." We are like the goddamn team in hit movie Gridiron Gang starring The Rock before they get good. And that is bad.

The Sex in the City movie. I haven't seen it, but what a waste of fucking time.

Clay Aiken. Took you long enough.

Pledges. Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

People who go to Oregon. Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

Also, if anyone went to the Santogold show on Saturday, can you tell me how it was? I was playing World of Warcraft in my basement and didn't make it to the show. Damn wizards and flying dragons....

The celebrities listed below this introduction were chosen because they have either been recently

The celebrities listed below this introduction were chosen because they have either been recently in the news or were run across in my non-scientific Internet search. A short explanation is given about some of their comments or actions in favor of Obama but please take it with a large grain of salt as it is in no way complete. In case someone asks, of course there are a small number of stars that support the John McCain / Sarah Palin ticket like Sylvester Stallone, John Voight, Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels.

It is no secret that most Hollywood and music stars are liberals and have become a reliable source of campaign cash for Democratic candidates. So far according to the Center for Responsive Politics the music and entertainment industry has given over $ 5.6 million to the Obama presidential effort and donated $ 3.4 million to the Hillary Clinton campaign. How did John McCain fare you ask? His campaign has received $ 885,000, total.

Not included are many rap and hip-hop stars like 50 Cent, Chamillionare, Scarface, etc., because around 95% of their community supports Obama’s candidacy. To list them all would take forever. They support Obama by using clothes with Obama’s image on them on stage, by putting up Obama or Obama/Biden banners at their concerts, etc. Almost all speak favorably of the candidate and hope the more outspoken members of their community tone down their support for fear of alienating voters that do not understand what their music is about. Some artists have said they support and will vote for Obama because he is one of them. Others say he is the most qualified for the job with race having nothing to do with their decision. To say that they are excited about this election is an understatement!

Below the stars, more or less in alphabetical order, listed by their last name. Looking for Oprah? She’s under W for Winfrey. How about Jay-Z? He’s under C for Shawn Carter. Homer Simpson? Try S for Homer Simpson. Yes, even Homer tries to vote for Obama.

Enjoy. Or not.

Jeffery Jacobs Abrams (J. J. Abrams): Has donated at least $ 2,300 to the Obama campaign.

Oprah Winfrey: On September 5, 2008 the Drudge Report said that the show is receiving a lot of emails asking that Sarah Palin be on. Half of the staff really wants Palin to appear but that Oprah and a couple of her people do not because it might hurt Obama. In 2007 continues the Drudge Report, conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was not allowed to go on when he was promoting his book. Later on September 5, 2008 Oprah stated to TMZ that she would love to have Palin on, after the election, as the staff had not discussed the Palin appearance and she had made the decision not have her show become a platform for candidates. Oprah has said about Obama: That would be my favorite guy, ….I know him well enough to believe in his moral authority. And that is the number one reason why I am supporting him, ..my Senator, my favorite Senator, and my choice. He appeared twice on Oprah, in January 2005 and October 2006, before she gave him her formal endorsement. On September 25, 2006 Oprah, on Larry King Live, said she hoped Obama ran for President. May 2007 Oprah formally endorses Obama for President. September 8, 2007 Oprah hosted an Obama fundraiser for 1,500 guests, each one donating $ 2,300 to his campaign. From November 2007 to February 2008 Oprah campaigned with Obama in Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire and in California. Many opine it was Oprah that introduced Obama to white American women and because of her active support suffered a huge backlash that continues to these days. August 2008 she was at the DNC in Denver praising Obama’s acceptance speech. September 2008 two University of Maryland economists say Oprah’s endorsement has given Obama approximately 1 million votes he would not have gotten otherwise. September 2008 she asked her viewers to support Senate bill 1738 proposed by Senator Joe Biden and endorsed by Senator Barack Obama. September 2008 Oprah again said her staff had not brought up having Sarah Palin on her show but would like to have her on after the election. She has donated at least $ 2,300 to the Obama campaign.

When most people think of celebrity weddings the most common things to come to mind are paparazzi ph

When most people think of celebrity weddings the most common things to come to mind are paparazzi photos of Armani clad Katie Holmes or the elaborate decor featured in many entertainment magazines following any celeb's big affair; this time though, the event was much, much different.

In May of this year after a year of dating a ring showed up on Scarlett Johannson's finger, which was later confirmed to be an engagement ring from boyfriend Ryan Reynolds, whom she had been dating for about a year (the ring by the way was estimated to cost approximately $30 000).

[caption id="attachment_141" align="aligncenter" width="217" caption="Scarlett's $30 000 engagement ring"][/caption]

However, according to Hello! the couple tied the knot this weekend in Canada. The 30-40 guests in attendance slept in tents and spent the weekend fishing, horseback riding and biking in the wilderness of Vancouver Island.

[caption id="attachment_143" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="The Bridal Suite?"][/caption]

Click the link below to visit the nature lovers' resort website

http://www.wildretreat.com/

The 23 year old actress wanted a small private affair and the couple will likely plan a larger reception later at some time. Their choice of location was away from prying eyes at the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort near Tofino on Vancouver Island and also just a short ferry ride from Ryan's hometown of Vancouver.

[caption id="attachment_144" align="aligncenter" width="225" caption="The happy couple... already in their camping oufits?"][/caption]

According to Stuff Scarlett had told paparazzi that they were in no rush to get married and were enjoying being engaged. Apparently this was meant to throw media attention off and it looks as though it may have worked (that and the fact that they were smack dab in the middle of the forested island)!

According to People magazine the 31 year old groom did some salmon and halibut fishing while the guests participated in various other outdoor activities.

Johansson and Reynolds are not the only Hollywood couple tht has opted for a small private wedding in the last little while.

Ashley Simpson and husband Pete Wentz were married in Simpson's parents backyard

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren married at the Beverley Hill's courthouse, with no guests at all.

And despite her estimated 17 carat diamond ring Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon tied the not on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas

So while the engagement rings continue to grow in size and price, the smaller weddings are becoming more popular among the typically lavish celebrities.

Hey Suz,

Scarlett Johansson got hitched. To Ryan Reynolds. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to shack up with Alanis Morrissette's ex (wow, I most likely totally botched how that's spelled)... Isn't it ironic? And that makes sense because nothing in that song is actually ironic.. like the above statement.

I just ate a pumpernickel bagel and drank an iced coffee and now I feel like garbage. I went out with "Robb Zombie" again last night... drank a large beer and barely got any sleep. Again. That may be part of the reason, or most of the reason, why I feel like a trash can. I forgot to tell you the other day when I went on a date with him on Sunday night, the same night we had the talk about his girlfriend situation (the one I drunkenly forgot about), we went back to my place and messed around for a couple hours. It was hot, steamy and absolutely lovely and ended with him falling asleep.... while I was blowing him.

To be honest, I was falling in and out of sleep as well so I am almost surprised that I didn't wake up with a dick in my mouth not remembering how I (or it) got there. I told him about it the next day and he was shocked. He slept at my house until 4 pm yesterday and he messaged me...

Him: "I slept till 4 today. I guess I was reeeally tired. Haha."

Me: "The fact that you fell asleep while I was blowing you was the first indicator of how tired you were. Hahaha!"

Him: "I'm still amazed by that. You're the best."

For everyone else that doesn't know this wonderfully handsome man, he's a sound engineer so he is essentially nocturnal and barely gets any days off so when he's tired, he's TIRED. Or I'm just trying to cover up how badly I give head.

Clearly, that's untrue.

He and I have been spending a lot of time together which is nice.. he had two days off in a row, which is almost unheard of. He's still asleep at my house right now with Bella curled up right next to him. To say that it's hard to get out of bed when I have a cute puppy laying on me from one side, and my Viking-hunk-of-a-man wrapped around me from the other side, is an understatement.

Ohmigod. "Carrie Bradshaw" (a.k.a. your former employer, and my current employer) just asked about his fucking purple pen. Again.

My father keeps emailing me and I don't know how to stop letting it affect me, and/or ignore him completely. I want him out of my life but it's kind of hard to say to someone "Hi. When I associate with you it makes me feel completely worthless and all you do is make me want to shrivel up and cry. I know I owe you money, but that's essentially the only thing tying me to you at this point. Have a nice life and goodbye. -Kirsten"

I can't wait to get my new computer so I can stop using this piece o' shit PC. And oh, by the way, those new PC commercials suck donkey balls and their only saving grace is that Pharrell is in them and he happens to be extremely sexy.

And this is just ridiculous:

Ta ta for now.

Definitely, Maybe [2008]

Udah lama dikasi rekomendasi sama salah satu temen forum tentang film ini, tapi baru tadi siang sempet nonton.

Film ini mengisahkan tentang seorang political consultant, William Hayes [Ryan Reynolds]. Will memiliki seorang anak perempuan usia 10 tahun, Maya Hayes [Abigail Breslin].

Apakah, Emily [Elizabeth Banks], kekasih hati Will semasa kuliah?

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds married on Saturday (27.09.08).

'The Other Boleyn Girl' actress and her 'Definitely, Maybe' star beau tied the knot in a remote resort near Vancouver, Canada, Scarlett's representative confirmed.

Scarlett, 23, and Ryan, 31, were joined by guests including the actress' mother Melanie Sloan and her brother Adrian Johansson at the intimate ceremony.

The news has shocked the showbiz world, as Scarlett said only last month she had no intention of rushing into marriage, insisting: "We're just enjoying our time. We're just recently - very recently - engaged. So, you know, we're just taking it easy. And no big plan yet. But it's a good time and we're just enjoying our time to be young and engaged. ... more

UPDATE October 5, 2008: An updated and much longer list has been posted HERE.
The stars were chos

UPDATE October 5, 2008: An updated and much longer list has been posted HERE.

The stars were chosen because they have either been recently in the news or were run across in my non-scientific Internet search.

Linda Evans? Try E for Linda Evans.

Enjoy. Or not.

Chuck Berry: June 11, 2008 he endorsed Obama and said, It's no question, myself being a man of color ... Definitely a proud and successful moment for all the people of this country, not just black people, but Americans in general.

Halle Berry: September 8, 2007 she attended the fundraiser Oprah Winfrey hosted for Obama. Has donated at least $ 2,300 to the Obama campaign.

Obama gave an very short speech, about 8 minutes long, to the guests before mingling.

Russel Brand: September 7, 2008 at the MTV Video Music Awards besides insulting President Bush said, Please….elect Barack Obama.

In July 2008 the Obama campaign has distanced themselves from Ludacris because of his song “Politics: Obama is Here” that contains some controversial material the campaign said was outrageously offensive, something akin to: President Bush is mentally handicapped, Vice President Cheney belongs in a wheel chair paralyzed, an Obama presidency is destiny, criticized Reverend Jessie Jackson, and called Hillary Clinton a b***h.

The ad poked fun at Obama because of his comments to tune up cars and inflate their tires to make the US independent of foreign oil. Browne has been a liberal all his life and thought that if his music was used in Republican ads the public might think he endorses McCain.
