Speed burst in for video

okies so Sonic is now a were-hog, in his new game Sonic Unleashed that SEGA is trying to revive the age old character, things were looking good where sonic run at full speed, making it feel like the good old sonic we used to know, but surprise as the hedgehog turns into a were-hog and things start to slow down as it becomes an action beatup game. Overall I am quite interested with the 2 game modes variety in a game is good. The speed running parts were fantastic showing off some interested ways to doge obstacles. The wer-hog parts were a little skimpy but I believe giving SEGA a chance, it will deliver.

Game comes out 2008 on PS3, XBOX360 and Wii

Hoje o site da Famitsu divulgou novas imagens direto da E3 de Sonic Unleashed, além de um cara "fazendo cosplay" de Weresonic que, convenhamos, até que não ficou tão estranho como todos estávamos imaginando. Confiram a seguir:

adios a las aventuras, adios a buscar tesoritos debajo de la tierra, que acaso estamos jugando banjo kazooie? NO! esto es sonic, nosotros queremos velocidad y si que la tendremos, este juego se viene con un renovado sonic, que solo se dedicara a correr, saltar y dar vueltitas en el aire como un loco a pura velocidad. Sin embargo habra una nueva introduccion a la saga, q sera la transformacion a una especie de erizo des-evolucionado y mas bestial que aunque reducirá su velocidad tendra mas fuerza y nuevos movimientos por ver.. hay que denotar que por los trailers que hemos visto, se necesitara casi que reflejos jedi para pasar el juego, porque los obstaculos se te vienen  y te dan milecimas de segundo para esquivarlos, cosa que me parece, da mas exitacion porque vas a sentir la verdadera velocidad del juego

Al parecer el juego saldra para los 3 reyes magos (play 3, Xbox 360 y wii) pero no esta todavia confirmado obviamente para cada una de las consolas se aplicaran algunas diferencias en cuanto a graficos, y otra cosa es que el nombre podria cambiar tambien. Asi que todavia falta mucho para liberar adrenalina con sonic, todos tranquilos que estamos seguros que la espera valdra la pena.

This is a continuation of the post below, in which I highlighted some of the natural and agricultural sights that are found along Interstate 82 in Eastern Washington.  Of course, as with any sufficiently long stretch of road, there are bound to be a number of interesting sights along the way.  Travelers so inclined could probably spend days along this stretch of road, hopping from one winery to another (preferably with someone else to handle the driving for them, of course)  but even for those people that prefer to prefer to enjoy their trip down I-82 in sobriety, there are a number of interesting sights to see.  Of course, even for a slightly impulsive and easily distracted person such as myself, there's not much point in heading out for a nice long drive like this without having at least some sort of destination in mind (trivial though it may be.)  In this case, the destination was the city of Kennewick,for reasons that soon be made apparent. Before we get to that though, let's take a look at some of the interesting sights to be seen along the way, which you will find after the jump.

As I mentioned in the previous post, the evening before this journey was spent camping out with my ward at church at a place known as Ensign Ranch, a few miles west of Cle Elum.  Given the state of the available restroom facilities at the campsite, a stop at the rest area a few miles into the journey on I-90 was the first priority.  There's nothing particularly unusual about this place, with the possible exception of a name guaranteed to get the kids and/or immature cartoon characters chuckling.  At least it was clean and surprisingly graffiti-free.

As you approach Yakima, you see this rather prominent building appear near a freeway exit in Selah, offering the promise of fruit antiques.  Although I tend to prefer my fruit to be a bit more modern, I hadn't ever actually stopped into this place on any of the trips I have taken down this road (usually with someone else driving,) so I figured it was worth a look.

Judging by the really old (and apparently defunct) refrigeration units in front of the building (not shown) and by this sign on the side of the building, I'm guessing that this place has probably been around for a while...

...But not nearly as long as this building across the street, which I would presume to be their former location.It does look like the building is still in use in one form or another though, and the decay seems to be limited mostly to the old signage.

Shockingly enough, as you venture inside the building, there is fruit and there are antiques.  If I had the slightest clue what I was doing when it comes to antiques, I'd probably spend hours in places like this, but more than likely I'd just end up with a bunch more junk cluttering up the house, so I just stick to browsing.

Not only are there fruits and antiques here, but apparently they even manage to combine the two as well.  I managed to resist the temptation to ask what the vintage of the pears was though.

But it's not just fruit and antiques, it's PRECISION fruit and antiques.  Apparently they water each tree with exact, scientifically calculated quantities of water each day, and measure each fruit with calipers to determine the optimal diameter before picking.  Even with the shamefully limited knowledge I have of agricultural sciences, I know enough to realize that precision doesn't seem to be a term that would be often applied to farming, but apparently these people have the whole thing down to a science.  Either that, or it's just a catchy name.

Moving down the road, we eventually reach the quiet little town of Zillah, roughly 20 miles past Yakima.  Although much of the town is relatively unspectacular, there are a couple of interesting landmarks found within this town.  This is the town's main drag, showing a classic rural downtown, although a number of the buildings along this stretch of road currently sit vacant.)

Not that the town of Zillah provides much opportunity for one to get themselves lost, but this sign, found across the street from where the previous photo was taken, doesn't seem like it would be all that helpful.

Nearby, a community bulletin board shows this leftover advertisement for a nearby fireworks stand, which seems to be going just a little overboard on the quotation marks.

Zillah's most notable landmark is actually found a couple miles down the highway from the town itself.  The Teapot Dome Service Station was built in 1922, in response to a political scandalthat had befallen the Warren G. Harding administration.  Although this structure is a federally recognized historical landmark, it ceased to operate as a service station many years ago, and currently sits vacant.  For some time now, Zillah's Chamber of Commerce has been working to raise funds to move the former service station into Zillah proper and convert it into a tourist information booth.

The old gas pumps still remain at the site, showing prices that have not been seen on any functioning gas pump in quite a long time.

From Zillah, it took about 63 more miles of driving to reach my ultimate destination of Kennewick.  Until now, I haven't ever actually been to the Tri-Cities (with the possible exception of a gas stop or two in Richland before heading into the self-serveless wastes of Oregon where you aren't allowed to pump your own gas,) and as as someone coming from the other side of the mountains,  the look of the city surprised me a bit.  The climate of Eastern Washington is very different from that in the Puget Sound region where I make my home, with much hotter summers and colder winters.  As such, a much more desert-like climate prevails over this area than what you might find in Western Washington, and in some ways the architecture and design used in buildings around here seems more reminiscent of what you might find in Arizona than what you would expect to find in the Seattle metro area. 

Sure enough, the temperature outside during my visit to Kennewick reached as high as 95 degrees.  Thank goodness for air conditioning.  But what exactly was I doing in Kennewick, you may ask?  I was there to sample some of the culinary delights on offer that you just can't seem to find on the other side of the state...

Well OK, it's actually just Sonic, but it's been ages since I've been anywhere that had one of these.  I may not be quite as obsessed with Sonic as some members of the family might be, but I still have fond memories of the Sonic in Los Alamos where I grew up, and have to make sure to drop in whenever I'm near one.  Since they haven't gotten around to opening one of these things anywhere near Seattle just yet, this is just about the closest one of these you're going to find to Seattle (actually, it's the second closest one.  There's one in Vancouver WA that's only about 175 miles from Redmond, but I figure I was already 70 miles in this morning, so I went to this one.) 

I could tell that this Sonic was fairly new, especially compared to some of the other ones I had been to, with nice features like the ability to pay with a credit/debit card right from the car.  They even had carhops on roller skates when I was there.

Here's my standard order whenever I happen to be somewhere that I can find a Sonic:  An extra-long Cheese Coney, an order of tater tots, and a large Ocean Water or Cherry Limeade (not pictured.)  Given the fact that I haven't been to one of these in a while, and the fact that it was so freakin' hot outside when I was there, I actually ended up getting both the Ocean Water AND the Cherry Limeade.  Somehow after drinking all that, I even managed to somehow make it all the way back to Redmond on only one bathroom stop. 

While I was in the neighborhood, I figured I'd also go check out the local mall, just a couple of blocks away from here.  The Columbia Center Mall (Mall  homepage, Wikipedia Entry) is a fairly large regional mall owned by Simon, which benefits greatly from the relative lack of competition in the area.  Beyond this, the closest competing malls are found in Yakima and Spokane, and this mall attracts shoppers from hundreds of miles away, especially along the I-84 corridor in Oregon which offers few opportunities for shopping.  The mall is anchored by two Macys stores (one being a Mens and Childrens store in the space where this mall's Lamonts used to be), Sears and JCPenney, with another former anchor space being divided into a Barnes and Noble Bookstore and a movie theater.  The mall opened originally in 1969, and in spite of fairly extensive renovations that have taken place, there is still a fair bit of late sixties and early seventies style in evidence here.   I'm not going to bother going into detail on this one, since it's a bit too far from here for me to do much research or photo-taking.

Before heading back across the mountains, there was one more order of business to take care of.  Before embarking on this trip, I was asked to bring some Sonic Blasts back for my mother.  Being the kind, obedient (sometimes) son that I am, I was able to locate a small ice chest and some dry ice at a Fred Meyer a few miles away, which I was then able to use to keep three Sonic Blasts (a couple for my parents, and one for myself since I was probably on way too much sugar at that point anyway)  frozen for the 220 mile journey back home, which was done relatively quickly and with only a single gas and restroom stop in a not-so picturesque area of Yakima.  All in all, I put in somewhere around 450 miles on the round trip (including the drive across Snoqualmie Pass to the campout on Friday evening.)  All that just for a chili dog and a cherry limeade.  Now if we could just figure out how to convince someone to open up a Sonic up here...

Aun cuando en la conferencia no se dieron tales noticias, de forma indirecta, se ha encontrado información sobre esto, en una página dedicada al entretenimiento como películas y videojuegos, expresan sus hallazgos.

Aun cuando bungie tenia promesas de dar una gran noticia durante el lunes, tuvieron que posponer todo anuncio oficial por razones de desarrollo, pero por voces “undeground” se ha dado a conocer el secreto, se trata de un nuevo titulo de Halo y no se refieren a Halo Wars o al proyecto de Peter Moore, un nuevo titulo traídos por el ahora independiente Bungie, ¿será cierto esto?, y si lo es, ¿será una secuela?, ¿un nuevo tipo de juego? Solo falta esperar para saber.

Por otro lado, Nintendo a dado información de una forma un poco inverosímil de proyectos a futuro que tienen, entre ellos, esta una secuela de Mario galaxy, una versión de Wii de la famosa saga Pikmin, un nuevo Zelda y un nuevo Mario para ds, declarando: “No puedo hacer ningún anuncio oficial, ya que saben que no nos gusta decir nada hasta sentir que el juego esta listo para que el publico lo vea” dijo miyamoto a los entrevistadores que no paraban de hacer preguntas. ¿Será esta la respuesta de Nintendo para los hardcore gamers?, solo falta esperar para saber si son ciertos estos rumores.

Sonic ha vuelto, y esta vez mas salvaje que nunca. SEGA quiere retomar las raíces de lo que solía ser Sonic, antes de tener… tantos tropiezos, lo que hasta ahora se ve como un juego de Sonic que podría estar mejor que sus ultimas entregas, solo esperemos ( y personalmente lo espero mucho ) que este juego sea merecedor de lo que una vez fue SONIC THE HEDGEHOG.

Qué onda, qué cuentan?? Nunca falta la gente/avatares que tiene muchas ganas de hacerle de DJ en las  grandes fiestas secondlifescas y se han acercado con la intención de que les explique como es todo este rollo del stream y todo eso. Así que el día de hoy, les explicaré (con mi humilde conocimiento acerca de éste tema) lo que se necesita, cuanto y cómo para poder transmitir su música en el metaverso!!

Los elementos necesarios. (aparte de muchas ganas =P) elementos básicos como un stream, un programa que tenga capacidad de enviar ese stream y.. pues su música y/o en dado caso la voz =D

-Stream: Básicamente es la “señal” que se necesita para enviar o transmitir el audio, considérenlo como una especie de estación de radio. Por lo general se renta, hay proovedores que manejan distintas tarifas y plazos, algunos los encuentras dentro de SL. Hay diversas calidades de stream desde 8kbs hasta 320kbs; entre mas kbs sea, mejor calidad de audio va a tener, pero, igual se debe contar con una buena conexión de banda ancha ya que entre mas calidad mas velocidad de conexión necesitarás. Tomando en consideración lo anterior unos 128kbs es de calidad decente donde una conexión de velocidad promedio pueda tolerar sin problema alguno.

-Software: Hay 3 programas populares: SAM, virtual DJ y Winamp.

SAM Broadcaster es un programa especializado para transmitir streams y manejar listas de música; no es gratuito pero tiene una sesión de prueba que dura un mes para que lo uses y decidas si ser DJ es lo tuyo.

Virtual DJ es otro programa donde su fuerte es la mezclada de música, puedes hacer tus pininos y compartirlos con todo mundo gracias a su capacidad de envío de stream, igual este tiene un costo pero se puede bajar el demo y ver de que se trata.

Winamp es otro programa que prácticamente es un reproductor de música, cuenta con capacidad de stream (con el plug-in del shoutcast), es algo austero en cuanto a la mezcla de rolas y uso de micrófono pero permite la instalación de plug-ins para poder darle un poco más de estilo a tu show y lo bueno del winamp es que es FREE!!

Pues bueno… hasta aquí les dejo, esperen mi próxima entrada donde explicaré mas a detalle los siguientes pasos para poder así debutar como todo un DJ!!

Sunday, June 29.  After a delicious breakfast of convention center coffee and a Target wholesome multi-grain cereal bar that, I realized too late, contained a tremendous amount of discount bran, manual labor resumed at the booth. The morning’s task involved folding 200 blue t-shirts adorned with the egg-shaped noggin of the robot who stars in our animated movies. The shirts were printed several years ago on the cheap. As such, the robot, whose normal skin tone – or pantone, as the case may be – is a pleasing burnt sienna, appeared to be the color of jaundice mixed with a hint of creamsicle. In some cases, he looked so ill we had to trash the shirts. It was a smidge challenging to neatly fold – and then sort by size – that many garments with one functioning hand and the other still stuck in its palsied claw-like c-shape, but thankfully, I had some help. By the time the noon hour struck, Hope and I realized with a mix of horror and joy that once again we needed to visit Target. On the way back, Hope was kind enough to take a side trip with me to Fort Sam Houston, where Lew (aka my dad) miraculously survived basic training in the summer of 1972. As it was approximately 200 degrees in the shade during our visit, I have no idea how he was able to accomplish this, and have to assume that the army goes easier on kindly physicians than the average G.I. Joe. While I myself had never set foot at Fort Sam before, I felt a strong connection to the place on account of Lew, and as if I now shared an even more special bond with my father. As Hope and I were driving around, past the PX and the commissary, imagining where each of the Army Wives leading ladies would have lived if they'd been stationed here instead of Charleston, I discovered the real root of the emotions that were overcoming me: Sonic. Looming on the horizon, just off the base, was an outlet of this exotic and not-yet-experienced-by-me fast food eatery. We still had to find a Kinko's, so the only ethical choice was to avail ourselves of the famous drive-in feature. I chose a dee-LICIOUS lemon slush for my virgin Sonic experience and was quite happy with it. It was refreshing and just the right blend of tartness and sweetness. Later that evening, I asked Lew if he'd frequented said Sonic during his time at Fort Sam, hoping that perhaps we'd received frosty beverages from the very same window, 36 years apart. Alas, he had no recollection of receiving anything from any Sonic, ever. 

We spent the rest of the late afternoon and evening ransacking San Antonio for a copy shop that was open on Sunday, having dinner at a sad and mediocre Mexican restaurant called La Fonda, getting lost again, and finally returning to the Marriott. Generally, I love the smell of hotels, but this one had an atypical aroma that I would describe as 1970s airport. Luckily, it was fairly easy to ignore the aroma because of all the good televisual options the San Antonio airwaves offered. For starters, there was NASA TV: FASCINATING and not at all sleep-inducing real-time coverage of people floating through the air in stylish blue jumpsuits. But beyond that, and more important, whatever channel I flipped to, whatever time it was, King of the Hill was always on.

My other find is the strawberry slush from Sonic.  I did get to enjoy some of the slush, and it was completely delish!  Strawberries are  one of my favorite fruits.  I also enjoy apples, oranges, grapefruits, and peaches.  I do not like bananas, though, and will only eat those as a last resort.  I'm just like my mommy - she hates bananas and says they have a terrible texture.  Oddly enough, she does like bananas in her smoothies.

I was also able to enjoy some hot, crunchy-on-the-outside, mushy-on-the-inside tots.  Give me some tots, Napoleon.  Daddy doesn't share very well, but I managed to get a taste anyhow.  Nobody can resist my big, soulful brown eyes.

Well here's your silver lining: New wardrobe time!!! That's right baby, pack on the pounds then hit the clothing rack. You'd also be surprised that at McDonald's, Burger King, Sonic, and Arby's if you come in at 300 lbs. they automatically push your meal to the next valued size. They don't even ask it's automatic. Also your food comes out faster, because hey no one wants an angry fat guy coming after them in closed quarters. So there you have it, you'll kinda be like the Hulk... ripped clothes and all.:)

Fall Out 3 will be out this Fall. They didn't go into much detail so there isn't much to report on it.

Microsoft will have their first Resident Evil game out on Friday, March 13, 2009. It seems really cool.

Now, onto Fable 3. This game seems REALLY cool. You start as a kid then gradually turn into a full-blown super hero. The game is different for everyone. Depending how you play, your player will look different, the world will look different, everything will be unique. It will be out October this year.

A game called Gear of War 2 will be out November 7. Exlusive to the Xbox 360.

This is the cool part. There is a new dashboard for the Xbox 360. It is fresh an much simpler. You will be able to make an avatar for Xbox Live. Parties with friends is another cool feature.

Micosoft partenered with Netflix. If you're a subscriber with Netflix, you will be able to download movies right to your 360 consol.

There is a new game called You're in the Movie. You will create and star in a movie. It reminds me of Sony's EyeToy. You're in the Movie is coming soon.

There were many other games and stuff, but they weren't that interesting.

I've seen ads in the Lansing State-Journal for Sonic managers and there's even been a little bit of talk on this blog about what, where, and when.  I contacted Sonic's PR department to see if I could get any more information.  This afternoon, I recieved a reply from Christie Martin who is the Real Estate Coordinator for Sonic Restaurants Inc.

She did confirm that Sonic is interested in the Lansing market and they are actively looking here for expansion.  However, no specific location has been identified yet.  The hope is to have a store open in the next 12 months.

I remember the first time I ever saw a Sonic.  It was in Vandalia, IL (home to the oldest surviving State Capitol in Illinois).  We were coming home from a family vacation in St. Louis.  It had ben a long week and every body was exhausted and just ready to get home.  We still had about a three hour drive, so we didn't want to try something we weren't familiar with.  It was years before I finally ate at one.  

Just a few weeks after I started dating my girlfriend, we had a wedding to go to.  We were both invited before we started dating, but ended up going together and shocking everyone there who knew us.  The night before, we went to my place after work and needed dinner.  I wasn't in the mood to cook and we kept seeing commercials for Sonic on TV.  My girlfriend really likes the Limeades and a new Sonic had just opened in East Peoria.  The whole car hop thing is still wierd to me.  I'd rather just go in.  I hate drive-thrus and this just a version of a drive-thru.  The food was alright.  It was fast food and it tasted like it.  The drinks were really good though.  I went with the Limeade and that made up for the fast food burgers.  I'm not overly disappointed there are no Sonic's here right now, but it would be a welcome addition for a lot of people.

Ustedes alguna vez han visto la movie Office Space? si ese es el caso (si no, se las recomiendo) seguramente se pondrán algo tristes al recordar ese famoso case of the mondays, o sea con su traducción al mexican power como san lunes: donde ni las gallinas ponen jaja y pues si, efectivamente, a veces puede ser uno de esos días donde la eternidad existe, la torpeza sobra y el café simplemente no basta ¿y qué mejor solución para contrarestarla? una buena sesión navegando por el metaverso SL =P

1. Su uso indiscriminado en la industria.- Es de muchos conocido el caso de las pobres ballenas, cazadas porque su grasa se usa ampliamente en la industria de los cosméticos. Esta explotación desconsiderada pone en peligro la especie. De igual manera, el uso exagerado del erizo azul en toda clase de productos desde party games, ridículas y pobres re-ediciones de los mismos juegos y los juegos "nuevos" que son prácticamente la misma cosa (y que cada vez son peores) han llevado a Sonic al punto mismo de la humillación.
2. Cambio de Hábitat.- Una especie tiende a desarrollarse de una mejor manera si lo hace en el ecosistema para el cual fué creada. ¿Pero qué pasa si se le traslada de manera hostil a un ambiente completamente diferente? Catástrofe, eso es lo que sucede. Nuestro azul amigo era feliz cuando se desenvolvía en los espaciosos e intrincados ambientes de los juegos de Génesis. Podía explotar su principal característica, la velocidad, a sus anchas y lograr una experiencia sumamente entretenida para el jugador. Ahora lo ponen en juegos con pistolas, patinetas voladoras (en dos ocasiones), en las olimpiadas y  con personas reales. Y lo peor de todo, en juegos lentos.

   Uno de sus nuevos juegos, que aún nisiquiera ve la luz, es un ejemplo estelar de mi punto. Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood es un RPG!!. Sin embargo, será desarrollado por BioWare, creadores de excelentes juegos (entre ellos el aclamadísimo Knights of the Old Republic), y existen casos de este tipo de alianzas estratégicas que han traído excelentes resultados. Por lo tanto, algo bueno podría salir de todo esto
3. Interacción con especies ajenas a su ecosistema.- Un punto ampliamente demostrado e incluso regulado por las leyes internacionales: la introducción de especies a ecosistemas distintos puede causar un grave daño. Todo estaba bien hasta, digamos, Knuckles: the echidna. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="258" caption="Esto es un equidna, por si se lo preguntaban"][/caption]

   Pero no, a la gente de Sega no les bastó, y terminamos con animalejos tales como Big el gato, Vector el cocodrilo, Crema la coneja y Charmy Bee... CHARMY BEE!!!

   Cada uno de los personajes que se agregan a la saga parecen ser más inútiles, molestos y reciclados que el anterior. Todos éramos felices cuando eran sólo Sonic y Tails (siendo Tails, desde mi punto de vista, una mera justificación para añadir a un segundo jugador)

Es muy triste lo que han hecho con Sonic. ¿Cómo se puede pasar de ser una mascota capaz de darle batalla al mismísimo Mario a ser la burla del medio de los videojuegos?

Hay esperanzas de una reivindicación venidera, pero las cosas se ven difíciles para el erizo. La siguiente línea de juegos (que está muy próxima a ser lanzada) tal vez sea lo que lo reestablezca a su sitio, o le dé el golpe final.

O sofisticado projeto, chamado Lilypad, tem um quê de Angel Island dos jogos do Sonic – e, como não poderia deixar de ser, é um sonho para poucos: estima-se que cada condomínio desses custaria cerca de US$ 30 bilhões para ser construído (um apartamento de 400m² sairia por módicos US$ 11 milhões).
